Chapter 25 - THE SECOND SISTER

RACHELLE'S POV

Everything froze in time birds hang motionless above the sky, the leaves that were swept by the wind stayed in place unable to reach the ground. The dragonflies that were previously flying around remained above the lotus hovering in the air, looking a Kristy even she is motionless her eyes are half-lidded and her mouth is slightly ajar.

The surroundings remained the same despite its motionlessness, nothing truly changed other than the woman that is now standing right in front of me. Her hair resembles those of a raven- smooth and black. However, hers is wavy while her eyes are bright blue- so bright they are almost glowing, or maybe they are actually glowing. She wore a red robe as if she's a goddess-like one of those in the Greek Era she stared at me with her soul piercing eyes causing me to notice the mole under her left eyes, her lips held a small subtle smile in her red painted lips.

"My sisters wouldn't like that" she said simply as she shifted her eyes to Kristy.

The woman flicked her fingers and out of nowhere, a black book appeared it floats in the air right in front of her, the book has a hard bond cover but a little thin while elaborate golden engravings of flowers and vines decorated the cover. But the most noticeable part is the name engraved in the book, with golden bold letters just like the decorations the name reads 'Kristy Hunter'.

The woman then waved her hand and the book opened with a faint white glow.

"According to this Kristy Hunter died in the lake and her body will never be found but you changed it" the woman said with an exasperated sigh.

"Did you really expect me to let her die?" I questioned her with my brows knitted together.

"No, not all… you're Rachelle after all. Don't you like playing the role of a hero 'oh I'm Rachelle and I like to save lives and make people happy'" she said mockingly as she tried to copy my voice.

"Come on now dear, I've seen you grow along with that impeccably annoying mindset" she stated with a chuckle.

I gritted my teeth, despite of the anger rising inside me I stayed in silence.

"It was annoying, to say the least, however people's fates change every time and that's alright, if the human race's fate was completely in our control your kind would've been extinct a long time ago" she said with a cheery voice as if everything she's stating is normal.

I stood up in order to face her at the same level.

"Who are you? And what do you want?" I asked firmly.

She smiled dangerously as a faint glow emitted from her eyes.

"Don't give me that tone Rachelle or you'll regret it" she said threateningly.

"Ah! How dreary!" she suddenly said while the glow in her eyes faded and her voice returned to its cheery tone as if she wasn't threatening me just a second ago, is this woman insane?!

"Anyway as I was saying before I was rudely interrupted, humans are not always following their fate some will fight it and others will change it. But you know what that's normal, that is the very reason why I and my sisters existed" she said looking at me with a small smile.

"We make sure that there would never be any loose end, even if you change the child's fate she will still die eventually but this time in a different manner and different time. Do you know why? Because there is no escaping one's fate no matter what. What must happen, will happen and we will make sure it does" her eyes once again glowed a little.

"You said you have sister?" I asked confused.

"Ah! Yes, my sister. I'm the second sister, the first one that you've met she's our third sister you know black grayish hair wrinkly and old then there is our oldest sister- I trust she already paid you a visit? She may have appeared as a young child with olive skin, long straight black hair, and freckles? Yes?"

I only nodded in response, still a bit confused.

"Our appearances are depending on how we prefer it therefore do not overthink" she said bluntly.

"Your sister said I wasn't supposed to know anything, so why are you?" I asked.

She turned as if she's leaving therefore I quickly followed her.

"Come let us stroll, it would be a waste if we didn't explore such a beautiful place" she stated.

Silence swallowed us both until she spoke again.

"To be honest you and Alexander are going nowhere with your 'research'" she said as she quoted both her index and middle finger in each hand.

"If I didn't tell you a thing, both of you will read everything in his dusty house and still couldn't find anything. Tell him not everything is in books will you, you two gets really boring" her voice was exasperated again, this woman has some serious attitude problem.

I stopped walking and upon noticing this she did as well.

"Then what is the clue you what to provide?" I asked her as I looked her in the eyes.

With another smile- she spoke ,"You want to end our conversation already?"

I remained silent, waiting for an answer.

The woman sighed and moved closer to me "Tell Alexander that 'we spin, we weave and we cut', I'm sure he's smart enough to understand" she whispered in my left ear.

After that, she distanced herself while was ready to run back to Kristy.

"Ah one more thing, tell him you shouldn't have requested those phoenix ashes" she said before vanishing into thin air.

Immediately I turned to run back to Kristy and when I finally reached her she was asleep, but her breathing is stable now.

I sat next to her feeling exhausted both physically and mentally, now that I think about it I haven't been doing my exercise routine.

With a sigh I looked at Kristy again, she's going to be fine.

"Rachelle!" a voice shouted I turned to look in the direction where it was coming from, and sure enough it was Alexander. He was running towards us with Hannah in toe.

Upon reaching us he was breathless "What…happened?" he said in between deep breaths.

Alexander then kneeled to check Kristy.

"She fine now Hannah just panicked, there was just a sudden wind then out of nowhere she was under the water" I told him as I started standing up.

"What about you? Are you alright?" he asked as he touched my arm.

Pulling away I nodded in response "I'm fine just a little tired"

"Let's go back then, I will deal with that Kelpie later" he stated.

"No Alexander, it wasn't the Kelpie. I didn't even see him around, I-I think it was the woman" I told him in the defense of the Kelpie.

"Who?" he said knitting his brows.

"I'll tell you when we get back" I replied shortly.

Nodding in agreement, Alexander bent down to pick Kristy up.

He rested her head on his shoulder while his arm was around Kristy holding her close.

"Let's go" he said as he extended his free hand to me.

I took his hand and with that, we began to walk back to the mansion.

The night is close and the sun is setting, the sky is now tainted in a dreadful color of red.

But for some reason it doesn't matter because right now we are walking side by side, his hand in mine.

And for some reason I know that I will be safe, no matter what.
