Chapter 27 - A LITTLE CHANGE OF FATE

A SECRET POV

A woman in a red robe entered a luxurious room, where two other women are sitting comfortably on a white sofa with golden trimmings. One appears as though a young child and the other an old woman in her oblivion, despite their true age. Above their heads is an enormous chandelier made out of the fines crystal, put together with golden scrolls and arms. While four bases- filled with blooming carnations stand in each corner of the room. And at the center is a heart, flame blazing high and mighty- providing warmth to the people inside the room.

"You're late Lachesis" the youngest sister spoke, evidently irritated due to her sister's tardiness.

"Oh stop your winning Atropos" Lachesis replied with a scoff.

"How could you steal a book on my domain, I was to cut the thread but the book is missing!" the other replied once more.

Lachesis sighed exasperatedly "I changed her Fate, I grew a fondness for the child. Get over it!"

"What?! You can't do that on your own! You'll mess the threads up!" the younger sister complained.

"Calm down, your wrinkles are getting worst. Besides, there's nothing wrong with a little extra work- every now and again" she said smiling brightly, trying to convince her sister.

However the other will not be swayed easily "It's easy for you to say such things because you're not the one who will be burdened!"

"Enough both of you, you're making my head hurt" Finally the eldest sister spoke, her child-like appearance is radiating with ominous power that is scared even her siblings.

With glowing blue eyes, she spoke "Lachesis you do realize that changing her fate is normal, however, if you extended her time to live it will create a riff"

"O-of course Clotho" Lachesis's cold sweat drops down her temple.

"That borrowed time will be repaid by other people's time, which means as Kristy Hunter lives people will die" Clotho spoke calmly.

"Yes, however a little casualty here and there never really hurt. I will work on the other books to change people's fate as an exchange for her borrowed time" the other sister replied.

"How long exactly, do you plan on doing this Lachesis?" Clotho asked.

"Oh don't worry, just long enough to make a dent on Alexander's walls" the woman held a grim smile on her red painted lips.

Clotho turned her head "Do what you want then so long as it magnifies his punishment"

"Ah! I will not disappoint you!" the other replied with a bright smile on her face.

"Atropos, I will hold on to the book for the time being" Lachesis said to her younger sister, her happiness radiating ever so strongly.

With that last bit, Lachesis left the room as quickly as she came.

She has a new mission to entertain herself with, from that point she will choose her least favorite humans and temper with their fate in exchange for Kristy's borrowed time.

Lachesis walk down the marbled floors of the hallway, her heels echoes each time it hits the surface of the floor she's walking on. While the vases of carnations stood on both sides of the walls, each is a meter away from the other.

Finally, she reached a huge double door-painted in white. The door is decorated with golden carvings of a spinner, behind it are three hooded figures. One is spinning the wheel, the other pulls the thread while the last figure holds a pair of shears as to cut the thread.

Lachesis held the golden knobs of the door and with a bit of strength, she pushed it open.

The other side reveals a dark circular room and in the center is a wooden spinner, scattered around the floor are dozens of yarn balls- each is a representation of a human's destiny.

As she entered the room, the books finally came into view.

There is a singular shelf which covers the entire wall of the circular room, turning her head up Lachesis looked at the shelf covering the walls. Which scales so high you will lose sight of the top.

This is the tower.

The place where the books and yarns are kept until it is time to hand it over to death himself.

Lachesis waved her hand and immediately some of the books glowed in a faint golden light.

Once more with a single gesture, the books flew right in front of her, Lachesis scanned each one with cold eyes filled with boredom.

These people bore her to death- in her eyes, their lives are meaningless: so insignificant, so worthless, and should be snuffed out without a second thought.

Lachesis reached for the book in the middle it was a book of fate for a girl in the busy capital, the girl is a maid working for a rich family. Lachesis still remembered when she gave the girl a chance to change her fate, she made the girl's master fell in love with the maid but she threw it all away.

In spite, Lachesis took the quill placed inside the book and rewrote the future the girl will have to face.

'The scullery maid named Marie was ordered to fetch some water from the nearby creek in the middle of a cold night.

The breeze bit in the skin of her rosy cheeks.

Taking a deep breath, she gathered the courage to walk through the dark path. She does not have a lamp nor a torch to guide her in the dark, oh how she regrets not taking one.

With another step, she felt the wet soil around the creak while the sound of rushing water echoed in her ears.

Marie took another carefully calculated step, she reached the side of the creak. Bending down she was ready to fill the pail.

She placed a hand in a nearby rock as a support, a fatal mistake.

In a swift slip, she fell into the water, its cold temperature made her gasp several times that the water, filled her lungs.

Her struggling figure was swept by the current further and further away into the deepest part of the water, with a burning filing in her chest she tried to reach up but it was too late.

A single tear was shed which immediately merged with the murky water, a final breath was released and the maid sunk to the bottom of the water.

Only to be found in the morning, soaked in water, pale as a ghost and as cold a speck of snow.

She had left the world with another soul in her womb.'

Smiling Lachesis feels proud of her piece, it was tragic, dark, and chilling.

And she loved it.

Her heart is filled with joy even after taking two lives for a cause so shallow.

Her eyes shined and her painted red lips curled into a cruel smile, she scanned the books that float in front of her.

"Now, which one is next?"
