Chapter 30 - BLOOD CONTRACT

[WARNING THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS HEAVY GORE, PLEASE READ WITH CAUTION]

ROBBIE'S POV

I stood in the middle of the room the chaos I have created splatter in front of me, it was messy while...I... I'm messed up. At this point as I stared at the dead bodies of the people I've killed I'm torn in between, should I continue on or should just-

"Robbie, it's time" Amber spoke

With a heavy sigh, I went to the back of the house to take the jar containing the candles from the witch along with the small sack of sulfur.

The night is dark and the moon is barely shining from the back of the thick clouds.

The winds are strong, blowing unforgivable cold air. It would seem that a storm is coming.

Picking up the materials I've received from the witch, I immediately went back inside.

Returning to the living room of the family I just slaughtered, the warmth once again embraced me.

I swallowed the lump forming in my throat, it's time to begin the summoning.

I do not have the paper where the instructions are written however, I know it by heart.

After all, ever since the voices appeared they kept on reciting the incantation and the instructions.

First, I need to draw a pentagram using the virgin's blood. Making a beeline to the table, I went for the clay jar that I've used to collect the child's blood. Carefully I poured the blood out from the jar to form a huge circle, then I drew a horizontal line inside the circle. Afterward, I drew two slanted lines crossing each other just above the horizontal line, and finally, I drew a 'V' in the middle completing an inverted star.

The second step is to make a bigger circle that is supposed to surround the pentagram using the sulfur.

The third is place the candles soaked in black goat's blood at each end of the star. Opening the jar, it released a putrid rotten smell. It was so disgusting I almost puke, reaching for the candles my hand submerged in the semi-congealed blood of the goat. The feeling of the thick and chunky liquid covered my hand, I can't even compare the revolting feeling.

The next step is to set the sacrifice in the middle of the pentagram, the hands are to be placed above the abdomen.

Walking towards the disfigured woman, I bent down to pick her up. She's still breathing but barely, just alive enough for the ritual to succeed. As I carry the woman- her blood, soaked my shirt even further.

I successfully lied the sacrifice inside the pentagram without ruining the lines and now it is time to set the heart next to the sacrifice.

Taking the heart from the place, where I placed it after ripping it out of the infant's chest. I briskly went back to the pentagram to set it.

Now, everything is in the right position.

The only thing left to do is to recite the incantation.

Taking a deep breath, I gathered the courage I needed.

I look over to the other side of the room where Amber stood, she held a small smile on her face. It was sweet and precious, maybe… just maybe everything that I have done so far is actually worth it.

I returned the smile she gave and started the incantation.

'I call upon thee the demon Murmux! I summon thy name from the other side!'

As I spoke the demon's name a strong wind started to flow inside the house, in a circular motion is kept of going blowing my hair and the other lighter things present in the room.

'Hear my prayer and let us forge a fact!'

The wind became stronger that I struggled to keep my ground.

'By this flesh and blood, I command you!'

'From hell and under'

'From ashes and fire'

'Rise!'

Finishing the incantation the wind vanishes, thunder boomed and rain fell from the sky.

After the first clasp of thunder, the entire room fell into a deafening silence.

Nothing happened... d-did I... failed?

My heart sunk and my world seemed to crash, after all of this mess. I wasn't able to bring Amber back.

With disbelief, I stared at the disfigured woman inside the pentagram.

I looked over at Amber but her face bears no emotion.

Was all of this for nothing?

There was another thunder and out of a sudden, the candles burst into flames.

The sulfur surrounding the pentagram is now a circle of flame.

The heat is intensifying each moment while sweat has started forming in my temple.

In the middle of the fire the French woman slowly melted into a pool of blood, her pitiful form is no longer in existence.

The blood started boiling, wait!

No! it's not boiling but rather it is moving.

Little by little the blood is rising and forming into a humanoid figure, a skinless man stood before me. He had two horns sticking out of each temple, sunken hollow eyes, a missing nose, and dried up dark lips. He stands tall in front of me, about three feet taller than my own height to be exact.

He raised his left hand which holds the infants heart and out of a sudden the fire died down, from the ashes and smoke a tattered black cloak formed and covered the demon in front of me. With his right hand, the demon point at me and gestured for me to come closer.

With trembling legs, I did what I was asked.

The demon's long bony finger wrapped around my left forearm, I held my breath terrified of what will come next.

In a quick moment his long nails, almost as if a claw slit my wrist.

I tried to jump back but he is far too strong.

"Calm down Robbie" Amber said coldly, I only nodded and allowed the demon to continue.

He bent down and sucked my blood from the wound, once the demon retracted the wound immediately healed.

After drinking my blood the demon extended the hand that holds the heart, I stood and did nothing.

"Eat" the demon spoke his voice raspy and dry as if he never said a word for a very long time.

Shook, I stood still this creature wanted me to eat human flesh.

"N-no" I said simply.

The demon screeched, a horrifying sound of death and chaos.

I quickly covered my ears for my head feels like it was about to explode.

"Robbie do as he says this to seal the contract!" Amber screamed over the never-ending screeching of the demon.

Moving swiftly, I took the heart from his hand.

The screeching stopped and with a shaky hand, I raised the heart into my mouth.

Taking a deep breath, I calmed myself down.

Slowly, I took a small bite.

The metallic taste and soft flesh left a revolting feeling in my mouth, I wanted to spit it out but I swallowed it anyway.

"ALL" the demon spoke again.

A dreadful feeling took over me as chills run down my spine, he wants me to eat the whole heart.

Knowing I have no choice… I did what I was told.

I closed my eyes and with shaking legs I took another bite, while blood dripped down the side of my mouth.

It was horrible but I have to do it, I've already made this far, and besides who knows what this creature will do if I didn't do as he says.

For the nth time, I had the urge to throw up however it would be best to keep it in for the time being.

Swallowing the last bit of the heart, relief finally washed over me. Using the sleeve of my shirt I wiped the blood off of my face.

"The contract is now sealed, I shall bring back Amber from death" the demon spoke again.

My heart lifted with joy, our wish if finally about to be fulfilled.

I looked over at Amber both of our faces held small smiles, this is our path to a new life.

Away from all of this mess.

Yes, after this.

We can finally have a normal - happy life.
