Great, now how am I going to explain that to Talon when I get back, I thought to myself after I the portal dropped me off in a dark alleyway. Now's not the time to think about that, I need to figure out where I am so I can get this done as quickly as possible. I glanced around the alleyway to see if I can find some clue as to where I am at. Ahead of me I see that the it opens up to a busy street with cars and people rushing by. Gathering up all my courage that I could muster up I made my way out of the alley.
As soon as I made it out, I was instantly swallowed up the business of the sidewalk. It seemed like everyone decided they needed to go somewhere all at the same time. Dodging between people so they wouldn't run into me and thus them wondering what they ran into I made my way to the newspaper stand that sat just a little way away. Hopefully it will say where I am, I thought as I picked up a paper and begun to read it.
Eagle Ride Paper "Your go to for news on paper"
What a weird motto, was the only thing I could think of at the moment as I set the paper back down onto the stack. Now I just have to find the inn. I went up to someone who was sitting on the bench and tried to ask them where it is.
"Excuse me," I said politely. After a few seconds of awkward silence passed I said it again, "Excuse me." Again, after no response I waved my hand up and down in front of the person. This still didn't affect the person. These people are very rude here, I thought to myself before I realized I was still invisible. That's why they weren't responding, they can't hear or see me.
Taking my scythe, which I still for some reason have full size, and I visualized myself becoming visible. Immediately, a tingling feeling began to spread around my body as what I assumed was me becoming noticeable. After the tingling stopped, I tapped my scythe against the ground and it began to shrink and turn into a keychain with the scythe on it. Putting it in my pocket I then proceeded to get the person's attention for a third time.
"Excuse me," I said for the last time. Causing the guy to turn and face me.
"What is it?" he asked.
"I'm not from around here and I got turned around," I answered. "Can you please tell me how I can get to the Pirate Ship Inn?"
"Why certainly young man," the guy replied. "It's just a one block over that way," he pointed further down the street towards a not so distant corner. "It's a little unique building, there is no way you could possibly miss it once you're on that street," he went on.
"Thank you," I said.
"You're welcome young man," the guy said before I turned towards the direction that the man was pointing to. I can't wait to get back and see Talon again, wait why am I thinking about him now all of sudden. I only talked to him for ten minutes before Anubis interrupted our conversation. All of these thoughts that were going on vanished when I rounded the corner and saw what was further down the street.
Before me stood a giant pirate ship that looks like it had been carried and placed here from the ocean. From the outside it still looked like it could set sail if it was placed back into the ocean. The only difference from the original pirate ship was the flag. Instead of the skull and crossbones it was the American flag flying in its place. Other than that, it had all the makings of a real ship. This has to be it, I thought before making my way inside of the ship.
The inside of the inn was more elaborate than the outside was. I could tell they spared no expense building this thing. Too bad it will all be ruined by a shooting, I thought as I looked around the lobby.
The floor was made of wooden planks; the kind you would see on a wooden ship. From the celling hung red banners that were dangling down. I saw that the front desk was even better; it was made out of granite and looked to be hand crafted with designs of sea battles taking place. The wall had paintings of famous pirates with their name's underneath which were hung with the upmost care.
After taking all of this in I stood by the wall looking for any potential targets. Realizing I was still visible I placed my hand inside of my pocket and grabbed the scythe and thought of myself being invisible. The tingling feeling came and left leaving me free to do whatever I wanted without drawing attention to myself.
No soon had I turned invisible a commotion started unfolding before me. I guess its time for the fun to start I thought as I watched what was happening in front of me.
A tall, medium build guy wearing a black ski mask strolled in and walked up to the front desk and pulled out a gun. He then proceeded to point it at the young attractive guy that worked the front desk. Wait did I just say a guy was attractive? What's happening to me? I thought to myself. There is no way I could be gay, was there? A gunshot dispelled any thoughts that were in my head. I saw the guy with the mask run out of the inn and the guy behind the desk drop to the floor.
I made my way to the front desk and went behind it. The young guy had short blond hair and crystal blue eyes, though the eyes were filled with pain as he struggled to breathe. From the corner of his eyes tears started to appear as he realized that his time on this Earth was at its end and that he will never see his mother again. Blood flowed from the wound in his chest and stained his white shirt. It pooled underneath him spreading across the wooden floor. Seeing this I almost looked away, but I had a job to do and I really didn't want him to suffer anymore.
I took the keychain out of my pocket and touched the bottom of the scythe. It quickly expanded to normal size. When I touched the man with the blade his body begin to glow and then slowly the glow ebbed into the blade and faded from the body. When the glowing vanished the guy's labor breathing stopped and his body went limp. I quickly closed the guy's eyes which were still open and still had the look of pain in them.
Turning around I thought of my new room and swung my blade causing another portal to open. After stepping through it I came into my room the portal then closed. Looking at the time I saw that it had just reached the end of the school day. I guess I didn't miss much here, I thought. Feeling drained from the events that unfolded today I laid down. I wish I was able to get Talon's number tomorrow, was my last thought before I fell asleep.
