Logan
I was jolted awake by the smell of something burning. I groaned when I realized what it was. Apparently, Raven was trying to cook me breakfast again. No matter how many times I told her she really didn't have to she still took it upon herself to try. Even though we both know she could even burn water if it were at all possible. I guess it was her motherly instincts that made her keep trying even though the smell I'm currently smelling is always the result.
Sighing I got up and quickly got dressed before the smoke alarms go off yet again for what seems like it would be the hundredth time. I rushed downstairs and into the kitchen to see Raven standing over the stove trying and failing to make pancakes.
"What are you trying to do, burn the house down?" I asked pushing her aside as I opened the window next to the stove and threw the pan out of it.
"I was simply trying to make you some pancakes before you have to leave for school," she responding obviously upset about her attempt at pancakes being thrown actually out the window.
"How many times does it have to end up with anything you try to cook being thrown out the window before you give up trying to cook for me?" I asked as I rummaged through the kitchen looking for stuff to make me an omelet. Lucky for me I knew how to cook otherwise I would have been stuck eating microwave meals.
"Well I thought this time would be different, I started watching cooking shows while you are away and I thought I could at least handle pancakes." she said close to tears as she went and sat down in one of the kitchen chairs.
I went over to her and put my hand on her shoulder. "How about you leave the cooking to me and focus on some other stuff that you could do," I offered.
"Alright, I guess there are other things to do around here," she sighed and quietly got herself back together. She then got up and walked out of the kitchen to do whatever had come to her mind.
Sighing I finished the nice omelet I made for myself and went back upstairs to my room and finished getting ready for school. With everything that had happened this morning I would be lucky if I made it on time.
The third class of the day was slow as the teacher droned on and on about math. The beginning of the school day started out rough as I stepped into my first class just as the bell rang cutting it extremely close. But the first and second classes seemed to rush by as I kept thinking about this growing need to see and speak to Talon. I still don't know why I have this feeling as Talon is a guy and in my previous life I would only experience this towards a girl. I figured my sexuality wouldn't change, but what if it had. I really hoped it didn't because I knew how had gay guys had it in school thanks to my past life experiences of seeing the few out guys bullied and beat up. I didn't know if this school would be the same nor did I know this truly meant I liked guys. Maybe it was a feeling of friendship that I am currently feeling. Yeah, that is what this feeling is.
The bell signaling the end of the class brought me out of my thoughts. I stood up and gather up my things and made my way for lunch. As I entered the lunchroom, I was immediately hit by the loud noises of every conversation happening at once. It was a wondering anyone can hear their own conversations over everyone else's, though I guess that is a skill everyone seems to have subconsciously.
After grabbing some food which consisted of a slice of cheese pizza, an apple, and milk I made my way to an empty table. I figured if anyone wanted to try to make friend then they will have to do the work and come over to me. I made it through most of my lunch before I heard someone sit down next to me. I looked up to see none other than Clover.
"Hello Logan, I see your sarcastic self still doesn't have any friends," she said jokingly. I watched as she began to eat some of her meatloaf that she apparently got instead of the pizza.
"Well I did have a decent conversion with someone yesterday but I don't seem him today," I stated while looking at her to see if she would have any reaction.
"Really, what was his name?" she asked. "Maybe I know where who he is and where he might be if he turns out to be real. I know about pretty much everyone in this school," she went on.
"Well he said his name was Talon. He forgot his phone an...," I stopped talking when I saw her eyes grow wide as I mentioned Talons name. "What is it, what's wrong?" I asked starting to panic.
"You don't want to try to be friend with him. Though I'm surprised you actually were able to talk to him," she answered. "He mainly keeps to himself and tries to avoid everyone. Plus, the word around the school is he is gay. Though he rarely has taken any interest in any of the guys here at school, there has been word from another school that he used to date a guy there." she went on still now finishing up the rest of her lunch.
I sat there digesting this new information. Do I really want to try to be friends with him now that I know that he is gay especially when I have this unknown feeling churning inside of me? Thinking about yesterday and how he might have seen something in the bathroom made me realize I have to risk it in case he did see something and to see if he was going to keep quiet about it. "Do you know where I can find him?" I asked as I study her for a moment. Though she was average weight and was somewhat pretty by my old life standards I knew that there was no way there would be a chance now that I would be remotely attracted to her. Her pale brown eyes didn't seem to have the kind of connection I seemed to be looking for.
Sighing she finally answered, "If he isn't here during lunch, he is probably in the library its one if the few places where no one will bother him in. And if you want to find him after school, he is usually helping the librarian put the books back on the shelves." After providing her answer she got up and left the table to join her friends at another table. I sat there a few minutes longer thinking about what I'm going to do and what I would possibly say. I very much couldn't go up to him and ask if he saw any strange lights in the bathroom, because that would give it away that I am hiding something that I don't want people to know. The bell signaling the end of lunch rang. Getting up I knew that this was going to be a long day.
