The next morning just after dawn, we are prepared and ready to leave, with us wearing the same clothes; blue long sleeve shirts, black pants and trench coats, we can only be differentiated by her feminine figure and my muscular appearance.
Her hair neatly brushed in a ponytail, while mine is just up in a messy man bun.
As we go outside with our bags and weapons, Rona turns and raises her hands, chanting the verses for the protective circle around the house, we have so many fond memories of.
"Nomine lucis distribuero praesidio ne ingrediatur animositate aduersitatum omnis potentia boni malique conterentur. (In the name of light, I bestow protection, that no ill will may enter and all outside forces be destroyed with the power of good and evil.)"
A bright pinkish light radiates from the base of the house with a slightly visible wall slowly raising to the sky protecting our home.
After the light dissipates, she turns and takes her wand out her pocket chanting again. "Lux in tenebris, et tenebrae in luce clamito Tricia deae nomen rectum iter iustitiae destinatum pervenire possumus tuto. (Within light there's darkness, within darkness there's light, I call out the name of the light goddess Tricia, to guide our path of righteousness, may we reach our destination safely.)"
An equally airy greenish light surrounds us as Rona is chanting, when she finishes we are no longer in front of the house but in the midst of trees somewhere foreign.
Realizing my surroundings my head begins to hurt and my stomach turns.
Holding over in pain and nausea, "I really hate that, I think I'm going to be sick."
Putting her wand back into her pocket, "Et hic quidem non obtinuit tutum. (At lease we got here safe.)"
With the pain slowly going away, "If you call me being sick safe."
"Cum non puke mei. (Once you don't puke on me.)" side stepping away.
"Do you really hate me that much? Next time use a crystal." Now getting back my composure I look around.
Looking me in the eyes with compassion. "Non possum oderunt te, im 'adhæsit in te. Nos postulo ut crystallis in eorum casu de subitis. (I can't hate you, I'm stuck with you and we might need those crystals in case of an emergency.)"
"Yeah, but you won't have to chant so loud, what if someone heard you?"
Turning away from me and peering through the trees, "Tum vero non modo non longe venerant porta. (Well no one did, just come along, the gate isn't too far.)"
Now following Rona, moving branches from around my face as I walk through the trees, "Why'd you put us all the way out here? Wouldn't it be better to just teleport us inside the city?"
Sarcastically, "Yeah, qui vult videre duobus novios hominibus iustum aparearé non in urbe tantum, quae similis? (Yeah, who likes to see two strange people just appearing in there city just like that?)"
*snaps fingers*
"Plus, nos adepto sedatus in suum optimum videtur. Si aliquid fit un non sit civitas in calumnia absque judicio. "(Plus, it's best we get checked in legally. In case anything happens we won't be in their city wrongfully.)"
Rolling my eyes, "Okay."
"Ne temptare me et te calcitrare culi. (Don't test me, I'll kick your ass.)"
Now reaching the pathway to the city walls our chatter can be heard by others and realizing this I try to quiet down.
"Only if I let you. Anyway there's the gate, remember the rules."
Getting annoyed, "sane, si memini. (Yeah, yeah, whatever.)"
Not realizing someone is behind us and trying to quiet her down we continue, "I'm serious."
Walking ahead of me. "Si gravis esset, si non adhuc loquitur. Iam enim volebat? (If you were serious we wouldn't be still talking. Now would we?)"
"Look mom, that lady with the big thing on her back is talking funny."
"What did I tell you about wondering off like that? Come here."
I turn to see a girl, as tall as my waist with shoulder length, almost white braids, big green curious eyes in a old tattered dress and holding a hand-made doll.
Her mother, taller than me, just behind her with more mature, almost identical features, in a similar tattered dress.
Turning to look at her mother, "But mom, she's talking in a different way."
Taking her daughter's hand and walking to Rona, "I'm so sorry."
Stepping in front of her and stooping down, "Don't worry about it. Now don't tell anyone else what you heard, okay."
"Why?" She asks looking pass me at Rona.
I look back to see Rona's face embarrassed and sad.
"It's a secret. Can you keep a secret?" I give a reassuring smile.
Nodding her head, her mother apologizes again, "I'm sorry but we really need to go." pulling her daughter to go to the gate.
Holding back up, I wave at the little girl who waves back and turns to focus on going through the gate.
I turn to my sister, "You see?"
Being embarrassed she nods and holds down her head.
"Don't worry about it, just let me do the talking from now on."
To emotional to say anything, she just walks to the gate.
"Next... Reason for coming?" I hear coming from one of the guards at the tall steel gate.
Now behind the woman and her daughter making the line to go in the city.
"Moving in permanently" she says
"Permanently, but she doesn't have anything with her, no bags, no wagon, nothing." I asked myself.
The conversation continues, "Show me your papers."
The woman goes in her pocket, takes out a few sheets of paper and hands them to the guard.
After a moment of the guard scanning through the papers, "Everything checks out, you may enter. Now enjoy your stay ladies."
"Thank you sir." The mother says and the little girl giggles as the guard moves out the way so that they can pass.
"Next..." the guard with his bald head and clearly overweight body in a suit of armor, shouts to us.
As we get closer, two more guards surround us with spears in hand.
"Reason for coming?" The first guard asks with his hand on his sword, parched on his hip.
Grabbing Rona's hand as she reaches for her wand, "Visiting family, temporarily."
The second guard tall and slim asks, "Why the weapons?"
"We're huntsmen." Still focusing on the first guard in front of us.
"This lovely lady is a huntsman?" With lustful eyes the third guard steps closer.
Rona now agitated, she pulls away her hand from mine and rolls her eyes.
Reaching to touch Rona's face, "Does the pretty lady talk?"
"No she doesn't, and don't touch her." Slapping his hand away from my sister in annoyance.
Now vexed, the guard pulls away his hand and points his spear at us.
Clearing his throat, the first guard defuses the situation by signaling the third to behave. He relaxes and goes back to his station.
"Do you have proof of who you are and what your doing here?"
I reach in my pocket and give him my gold crest, the royal crest of the huntsman bestowed by basilica sancti lumine numen. (The cathedral of the light goddess)
Seemly surprised the guards apologizes for their behavior and swiftly moves out the way, "We're very sorry for our behavior sir, you may pass."
"Hoc me odisse. (I hate this.)" she whispers, trailing behind me with her head down as we make our way through the gate and in the city.
Trying to comfort her, "it's only until we get to uncle Luis'."
"Sic suus 'non meus mendum natus sum. (It's not my fault I was born this way.)
"No one's blaming you."
"Suus 'bonum, quod quidem potestis intelligere me. (At least it's good that you can understand me.)"
I glance back at her. Her head still focused at her feet as she trails behind me but I can still see her sad expression.
Trying to make her feel better in someway, "Yeah, Imagine if I didn't, that would be messed up. Wouldn't it?"
"Ego sum laetus possis, ego, si sola esset, non possem. (I'm just glad you can, I would be alone if you couldn't.)"
I slow down my pace to be at my sister's side, pulling her closer. "You know your brother's got you, you're never alone.
As we're making our way through the big city Thea, said to be the largest city in the world, we look around seeing the market full of creatures and people of all races going about their daily lives.
"Everyone seems to be enjoying the peaceful lives their all living under the church's rule." I think to myself as we walk.
