Chapter 9 - Chapter 8

After searching for several hours for the little girl and her kidnappers, seeing that it's almost nightfall, I decide to go back to the house.

Remembering the food and knowing Rona probably hasn't eaten anything all day, I decided to go back to the market and get the necessities once more.

The market is almost empty by the time I reach there, with only a few shops open and streets practically deserted.

Knowing I can't  get everything, I look for something fast and easy to make.

Now after I found something and a 30 minute look in the market, the sun has set and I head back to the house.

Walking down the seemly empty road, I watch as men and women illuminate the city with candles. Outside their homes and on high light poles.

As I get closer to the house, I look back. 'What a gleamingly beautiful city.' I think to myself. 'If only it didn't have so much evil in it.'

Refocusing on getting back to Rona and Mira, I continue down the path.

A little ways off, I look up seeing Rona standing by the front door with her scythe in hand and a furious look on her face.

"Ubi eras inferis omne tempus, quod quaeris tibi dies quam expectabamus invenimus. (Where in the underworld have you been all this time, I've been waiting and looking for you?)" She shouts to me.

"I'm sorry Rona, I loss track of time. I was looking for the little girl." reaching her.

She stomps the scythe. "Et sic, non tamen potui misit me nuntium. (Even so, you could've still sent me a message.)"

I step next to her and pat her on the head. "Sorry for making you worry."

"Non enim adhuc nescio quid faciam, sit tu perdidisti. (Don't do that again. I don't know what I'll do if I loss you too.)" she says bowing her head.

Realizing her continuous mix of emotions, I try to change the topic. "Have you eaten?"

Shaking my hand off her head and proceeding to walk inside. "Weve 'iam comedi. (We've eaten already.)"

Following her. "We?"

I shut the door behind me, making my way inside.

Turning the corner to the brightly lit living room, following my sister, I rest my eyes on Mira sitting on the windowsill with her tail flicking from left to right in an anxious motion and what seems like a cup of tea in her hand.

She looks at me as I turn the corner and smiles. "Good evening, Nico." As if waiting on me to get back.

"Mira, you're awake. When?"

"Paucis horis reliquisti. (Just a few hours after you left.)" Rona answers from next to me.

"I woke up to strange words and crying by my bed side." Lowering the cup in her hand.

I can see Rona's face fluster from the corner of my eye.

"How do you feel?"

She puts her cup down on the nearby table and raises her sleeve, showing me the burns on her right hand going up to her shoulder.

"Other than this, I'm fine." With an almost sad expression on her face.

"Usquam. (Anyway,)" changing the topic, fully walking in the room to go sit down.

The rain begins to fall.

Noticing she's getting wet, Mira moves from the window and shut it.

"Does the rain fall every night here?" I ask Mira.

Sitting next to Rona. "It's usually snowing around this time of year, so the constant rain and cold whether is normal."

"Oh, okay."

"Et quid habes de populo qui tollebant puellae? (Did you find out anything about the people who kidnapped the girl?)" looking at me.

"No, I looked everywhere I can think of. It's like they don't even exist."

"Maybe their not in the city anymore." Mira says staring at her cup.

"How?....." asking how she knows what we're talking about.

"I ei. (I told her.)"

"But she can't understand you."

"Ego ostendit et dixit ei omnis Latina verba scivi. (I showed her and said every English word I knew.)"

"Oh...." Realizing she would've had to see the head, I looked at Mira. Her head bowed.

"Et sepelivi eam iuxta quod extra lignum. (I buried it, next to the tree outside.)"

"Thank you." Knowing what she's referring to without having to say it.

"So what are you going to do now?" Reaching for her cup.

"I don't know, we only have a few more days."

As the rain gets louder, We hear a knock at the door.

We're all startled by its suddenty but don't move.

After a moment, the knocks get louder.

With speed Rona jumps to her feet, grabs one of the swords from my waist and rushes to the door.

With me and Mira behind her, Rona opens the door with a soaked, hooded figure just outside with something in their hands.

"Et qui ad quid venisti? (Who are you and why are you here?)" pointing the blade at the figure and shouting.

The person doesn't say anything.

With the sword, she removes the wet hood, seeing who it is she's ready to cut off the person's head.

"Vos!! (You!!) in a angered tone.

Just as Rona is about to decapitate the person in front of her, I reach and grab her hand.

Seeing who the person is. "Isabella!?"

"Isabella?" Rona angrily questions.

"Who's Isabella?" From behind me.

With a slow motion, she removes the wet covers of what's in her hands revealing the little girl's unconscious and bruised body.

"Can you help her?" She asks with tears in her emerald eyes.
