"Praesidium!! (Protection!!)"
Realizing I'm not crushed, I look up to see what has happened. Nora is floating, her arms reached out to sky and glowing. A yellowish dome has surrounded us, protecting us from the debris of the now destroyed house Mira once called home.
With my ears still ringing, I hear Rona's faint voice below me.
"Cura deam….. ego….. (I….. goddess….. heal….)" A bright green glow radiates from Rona's hand onto Mira's head.
After a few moments everyone is on their feet except Mira and Rona, the ringing has stopped and Nora is releasing the dome, causing her to return to her child form and grounded.
"Mira, are you okay?" Isabella asks walking towards her.
"Thanks to Rona." Wiping the blood from her ears.
"I'm sorry about the house."
Mira looks around and a traumatized look spreads across her face.
"Ego paenitet. (I'm sorry)" Rona says hugging Mira.
"I thank you my goddess, for protecting us but I thought you couldn't use magic at a young age." Making eye contact with Nora.
"That wasn't magic, that was spirit energy." She responds in a tired voice.
"Spirit energy?" Questioning what I just heard.
"No time to explain..." Nora says before going silent.
Me, Rona and Isabella looks up to the sky sensing danger, approaching from afar.
"My goddess, behind me!" Isabella states to Nora in hopes of protecting her from any and everything that is about to happen. Nora quickly gets behind Isabella as she gets in her fighting stance.
"You sense it to Rona?" Asking her as she gets her scythe from the rubble.
"Etiam, illic 'a ingens navitas magica, et veniens de caelo nos multa ambiente. (Yes, there's a huge magical energy coming from the sky and multiple surrounding us.) Throwing twin swords to me.
"Mira, Mira!" I shout.
"Yes." Looking at me, pale in the face.
We're going to have to fight the people responsible for this." I say in hope of refocusing her anger and sadness at a singular foe.
Her face changes from what seemed liked sadness to anger, ripping off her maid's uniform she adores so much, revealing clothing I have never seen her wear before, leather top and bottom with no shoes. She crouches onto her all fours, her ears pointed, twitching to every sound and her fur on the back of her neck and tail is standing.
Something flashes in the corner of my eye. I step forward changing my focus to the sky once again.
Three flame orbs can slightly be seen speedily heading directly towards us. Knowing the destruction that will happen, I cross my swords above my head and focus my energy. "Reflect" Is all I say as the orbs grow bigger for impact.
The orbs bounce off the invisible field created by my swords and head back to the source, leaving a powerful wind and immense heat. Everyone braces their selves as Nora holds onto Isabella's clothes to not be blown away.
Three massive explosions appear as they seem to hit their target.
"Cincta erant. (We're surrounded.)" I hear from behind me.
Looking around, all I can see are numerous persons in white cloaks making a complete circle around what was a house.
"Who are you and what do you want." I shout in hopes of a rational conversation.
All in unison as they get closer. "The light is our salvation. The one who is light shall be our gateway to become gods. Hurt, pain, suffering, anger, jealousy, feelings of mortals shall be no more. Give us the one of light, she will guide us to the darkness and he will bring us light again. Show us the light. Sacrifice the goddess."
"Hello, mother." A familiar voice from behind the cloaks.
A pathway is formed and the high priest walks through with a sadistic smile on his face.
"Legion." Nora spits out the priest's name as if in disgust of the very site of him.
Hearing this name Rona and I look at each other knowing the meaning of legion in our language. Death, destruction, despair and darkness.
"I'm not your mother you monster, get out of my site, you disgust me!" Nora states, pointing at Legion.
"I don't take orders from you anymore 'mother', I'm going to be the one who controls everything from now on." Stepping back as if planning something.
"Kill who opposes you, captured the goddess! Shouting from behind the cloaks again.
"Mira, Isabella." I nod at them. "We'll handle the priest."
"With pleasure." Mira in a almost happy tone.
On her all fours she jumps into the enemy with her claws out.
Screams can be heard as Mira runs through, disemboweling and tearing off limbs.
Isabella finds a couple daggers and bows at Nora as she disappears, five or more cloaks drop as a red flash is all that can be seen.
After a few moments and the dust settling, all that can be seen is blood stained white cloaks and body parts on the ground.
Mira is drenching in blood, covering her paws and face as she makes her way back to our side.
Isabella is on the ground hold a figure in her arms crying.
"Why….. why didn't you listen to me? I didn't want this, Ann."
The person she called Ann starts to cough out blood trying to speak.
"I….. I forgive you..... Bella....."
I walk to her side, looking down I see a young dark skinned girl with similar features as Isabella, long red hair and emerald eyes and her throat cut.
She smiles at me as she takes her last breath and drifts off into was seem like sleep.
Isabella cries out. I stoop down, embracing her not knowing who the person was but feeling the pain.
"I'm sorry." Is all I say.
"She stopped me from healing her….. why.... Why would she do that?"
I say nothing.
Taking my hand and looking me in the eyes, her expression goes from sadness to anger. "He's going to pay!!"
"Nicholaus observetis!! (Nicholas watch out!!)" Is all I hear from a distance just before another fire ball hits us.
*Boom*
Just seconds before the blast hits, I stand with my hands out in efforts to protect Isabella. I scream out in pain as it hits my back, falling unconscious as my body absorbs most of the blast.
