After 10 days of looking around the city, describing the little girl with her mother and questioning people, I come up empty handed. Confused that no one knew who I spoke of, it's like they just came through the gates and vanished into thin air.
It's the 11th morning and I'm standing by the doorframe, watching Rona care for the still unconscious Mira, changing her clothes, brushing her fur and making sure she's comfortable.
"How come she hates all creatures born of darkness but cares for Mira so much. Mira is a nekojin, a beast-man, half animal half human, is there something I'm missing." I think to myself.
"Quid est? (What?)" looking at me with tears in her eyes.
Snapping me out of my thoughts. "I'm.... I'm going to the market, we're running low on food. Do you want anything?"
"Immo. (No.)" Focusing back on Mira.
I stand there for what seems like a minute, knowing how much has happened in such a short space of time, how emotional she is right now and wishing I could do more.
I walk away, glancing back and seeing that her focus hasn't changed, I sigh.
Now heading for the door, I pick up my coin bag and my swords, just in case anything happens.
After a ten to fifteen minute walk, I reach the market, which is busy. There're creatures of all races, venders calling out for persons to come look around and buy their produce and other huntsman looking for weapons, potions and the next mission.
I go from stall to stall looking, commuting and buying the necessities for the house; vegetables, breads, milk and anything else I thought we needed.
Shifting through the busy street, trying to get back to the other side, I spot a familiar face.
That dark beautiful skin, that long, curly red hair, blowing in the wind, those long pointed ears, moving with every noise, those almond shaped green eyes looking straight at me.
Realizing who I am, she drops the parcel in her hands and starts to run.
I also drop the goods in my hands and begin to chase. "She moving through this crowd with so much ease, it's like she's done this before." I think to myself, trying to keep up while dodging left and right.
She turns and vanishes down between two tall buildings. I turn, nothing can be seen but an empty alley.
Hearing footsteps, I look up, seeing she has made her way up to the roof.
I jump to the opposing wall, then the other and finally the roof.
"Hey, stop." I shout.
She doesn't look around, just continues hopping from roof to roof.
"This is tiring and causing too much commotion," as I look around seeing people noticing us.
"I said stop." I shout again.
Realizing this isn't going anywhere any time soon, I start chanting. "Come, come, come light of the goddess, I call upon the power to guide my way and stop my enemies before me."
A small, yellow lightning sparks between my fingers.
I raise my hand and flick my wrist, sending the lightning at the half elf.
She looks back and jumps but it's too late, the bolts hits her legs, paralyzing her and forcing her to drop from the roof to the ground.
Realizing the amount of damage that will happen if she hits the ground, I jump down in efforts to catch her.
Sliding across the alley floor, I catch her, pinning her to a wall.
Getting a closer look, she's wearing a nun's uniform, a long black and white dress, wimple and thigh high black stockings with garters on them. I stare in confusion and awe.
Trying to wiggle away, she flinches in pain as the electricity runs through her body.
Looking in her beautiful eyes. "That's a paralysis spell, it's useless."
"Release me." She spits.
"I can't release you, it's not a binding spell. It'll were off, in time." Stooping down, to be at eye level with her.
"What do you want with me and where's the other one who tried to kill me?" Tensing up.
"Don't worry about her, she's not here." Only answering one question.
With my words she calms down a bit.
"Did anyone ever told you, how much of a gorgeous lady you are?"
Looking away in embarrassment she blushes but doesn't answer.
Realizing more effort will have to be made. "Why did you run?"
With her flustered face. "Because you would've thought I was following you again and that girl...."
"I don't think you would be following me dressed like that." Mentioning to her nun outfit.
"Well I am a nun of the high temple so these are my normal clothes."
I reach out to touch her face. She flinches.
"I mean no harm."
Knowing she's vulnerable, fear replaces embarrassment. "Don't touch me."
I ignore her and touch her anyway. Her skin is warm and smooth to the touch.
"It wasn't you." Thinking to myself, still remembering the little girl.
With her face flustered again. "I said don't touch me."
"Your beauty is intoxicating and this might be the only time I get to touch you." looking deeper into her shimmering emerald eyes.
She smiles and bows her head, trying to hide the embarrassment.
"Thank you." She says quietly and sincerely
Releasing her, I get up and begin to walk away. "You'll be able to move in about a few minutes."
She says nothing but I can feel her eyes on me.
I stop. "What's your name?"
"...Isabella." Answering hesitantly
"I'm Nicholas." I say walking out the alley.
Changing my focus and not remembering the food for the house. I continue my search for the girl.
