Shu Ling quietly sat down on her seat without paying any attention towards the others who were dining with her. Including Yu Zhe and her parents. When she arrived, both her parents and Yu Zhe were surprised to see the sudden change in her outfit.
"Ahem, Shu Ling why aren't you wearing your dresses?" Yu Zhe asked with his eyes scanning her clothes. 'A shirt and track pants? Who does she think she is? A martial artist?' He sneered inwardly. Shu Ling stared at him indifferently as she replied without batting an eyelash, "It's my body not yours, Mr Li."
'How pathetic I was, falling for this kind of guy. My taste in guys suck.' She resisted the urge to roll her eyes. The atmosphere had turn cold after the simple words that came out of Shu Ling's mouth. Shu Ling's mother, Mrs Yuo immediately chided her. "Shu Ling, how can you be so rude to Yu Zhe?"
Shu Ling shrugged at her words and proceeded to place a fried fritter(you tiao)into her mouth. Her actions had left not only Yu Zhe but the whole family including their maids stumped. Shu Hui raised an eye brown, somewhat amused by Shu Ling's actions while Yu Zhe looked at Shu Ling blankly.
'Yu Zhe....? Didn't she always call me Yu Ge?'
The rest of the breakfast was eaten in silence as everyone felt slightly awkward at Shu Ling's behaviour. That was until Mr Yuo had enough and slammed his chopsticks down hardly on the table and turned to look at Shu Ling.
"Yuo Shu Ling. Don't you think your being too childish?! Why can't you be more mature like your sister?" He shouted in fury.
Shu Ling turned up from her bowl only to meet her father's agitated eyes. 'What mature? Are they dumb or dumb?' She cursed her parents inwardly. Well no one could blame her, after all her parents sold Shu Ling off to the Li family in order to form an alliance with them.
As Shu Ling continued eating, Yu Zhe continued staring at her. Shu Ling could feel his gaze on her but ignored it and continued eating. 'She used to stick to me like a fly,does she not like me anymore? Maybe she's feeling sick....' Yu Zhe thought.
"Xiao Ling later do you want to-" Just as Yu Zhe was about to invite her to watch a movie with him, Shu Ling cut him off. "Mom, Dad I'm going out." And just like that she left the dinning table and headed up stairs to her room. When she left, the thoughts of the others at the dinning table were the same, 'Is that really Shu Ling?'
Shu Ling jumped onto her bed and kicked the blanket excitedly. 'I did it, I did it! I'm so cool!' She smiled at herself excitedly. She glanced at her phone that was lying right beside her. 'Ah i'm going to be late, I better hurry.' She thought to herself as she grabbed a small bag with the necessities and left to seat in her family car.
Since it was a rather big family car and Shu Hui was only two years older than her, so they still went to the same prestigious university which most rich people attend. Most of them are children of ministers or businessmen some where idols or just rich from inheritance.
The car ride was filled with silence that was until Shu Hui spoke up. " Shu Ling why were you so rude to Yu Zhe this morning? You know that he comes to our house in the morning specially for you right? How could you be so inconsiderate?"
If it wasn't for the fact that Shu Ling still had to act as the naive and spoiled sister, she would've burst out laughing. She stared into Shu Hui's eyes as her lips twitched. Shu Hui eyes had doe eyes, making her look innocent and mature. No wonder she fell for her tricks!
Ignoring her, Shu Ling took out her phone and began scrolling through her social media. The driver saw everything that happened but did not say anything, not wanting to add more fuel to the fire in this awkward silence.
After a few minutes, the car began slowing down and stopped at a very big university. After thanking the driver, Shu Ling stepped out of the car along with her sister. The minute she stepped out, all eyes were on her because of her clothes. On any other normal day, she would've worn dresses that were decorated in many accessories along with a face full of make up.
But today she chose simple clothings with a cap on her hair. Ignoring the gazes on her she continued walking into the classroom. Just as she was about to reach the indoors, a strong wind blew, making her hat fly off. Shu Ling clumsily attempted to grab it but ended up slipping.
Just as she was about to fall, an arm grabbed hers, stabilising her. A low chuckle was heard as she turned her head, only to meet the eyes of a man who was holding his half eaten sandwich. 'Second young master of the Long family.' Luo Chen was the original heir of the Long family but the second his father's mistress' son was brought in. He lost that opportunity.
While Shu Ling was still standing there in her own thoughts, Luo Chen had went over and picked up her cap that was on the floor. He placed it on her head lightly as he patted her like she was a dog. "You look better without make up." He gave her a lopsided smile, before walking away.
'Urgh, why was it so bright when he smiled? I need a pair of sunglasses the next time I see him.' Shu Ling thought to herself as she rubbed her eyes and continued walking to her classroom.
