The sun rose in a pool of crimson and red, light covering the land. The 2 girls got out of bed full of zest, hopeful of their mission. Hoping that everything will go as planned. They walked down to have a quick meal before rushing to the bottom of the Mountain. Both of their faces dropped as they reached the mountain, a sudden wave of fear overcame them. Scarlett cautiously started the climb. Putting her foot on the mountain, she knew that there was no turning back. Little did they know, the journey had just began.
"Somthing is different." Scarlett murmered. Amethist nodded her head in agreement, it seemed like there was more twists and turns. More caves, and more walking distance. "Let's walk faster." Amethist suggested, their pace quickened as they tried to make it up before night. Although it was getting dark, they wanted to continue.
Suddenly, a screeching noise was heard. They looked behind them to see a bat flying towards them. Its red beady eyes pierced their soul, its aura sent shivers down their spine. In a moment of despair, Amethis shot a blazing light towards the bat causing it to fall. "Woah!" Scarlett exclaimed, her face was filled excitement. "You're a sorceress!" Scarlett said, her face lit up with joy at this newfound information. "So we have a chance." She said, hew tone was hopeful. "I'm not experienced," Amethist said shyly. "Nah, it's fine! We just need to save Krystal." Scarlett uttered. Amethist was curious about the relationship between them, curiosity got the better of her. So, she asked, "Are you and her dating? You seem quite worried about her." Scarlett hid her face in her palms, her face turned beet red. "I-uh- no!" She stuttered. Amethist smirked and hummed. "Sure, you aren't" She teased. Scarlett quickly tried to change the subject, but Amethist noticed and teased her even further.
After awhile, the girls reached the cottage. They were scared out of their wits, feet trembling. "We can do this!" Amethist encouraged. Scarlett took a deep breath in and stealthily approached the door, just as she was about to break it down, they heard footsteps coming from behind them. Both of them scattered quickly and hid behind a rock. The footsteps grew louder, Scarlett's heart was pounding and Amethist was breaking out in cold sweat. Their legs felt like jelly. Then, they heard some whispering, they decided to eavesdrop. "That girl will make a good potion with the amount of magic in her" The person cackled. "I'll do it tomorrow, gotta get that dragon's breath first" it muttered. The girls were quite shocked, but they managed to regain their composure and run to the nearest cave to avoid getting caught.
"At least now we know how much time we have left." Amethist tried to find the silver lining of things. Scarlett knew that they had very little time left and was worried about what was to come of Krystal. If they don't get her by tomorrow, she's basically dead. Scarlett's heart clenched at the thought of that. "We should get some rest, tomorrow is a make it or break it type of situation" Amethist murmered, her eyelids getting heavy as she yawned. She lied down on the cold flooring of the cave.
Scarlett tried to sleep, but no matter how much she tossed and turned. She couldn't help but feel anxious about the next day. Suddenly, she felt a presence behind her, she heard the same bell rings and the high screeching noises as Krystal did. She was frightened, she closed her eyes and didn't dare look up. Whatever it was, it continued watching her throughout the night.
"Ugh..." Scarlett groaned as she got up, she could barely catch a wink last night, she was frightened about what happened yesterday. But, she kept it to herself as she didn't want Amethist to worry. They headed to a distance to observe the cottage. They could only see shadows, but nothing happened. After awhile, the witch strolled out. She walked down the mountain. As soon as she was out of sight, the duo bolted to the door.
They tried to knock it down, but it was no use. The door wouldn't budge, suddenly, Scarlett remembered something. She threw a rock at the window and it instantaneously shattered in tiny shards. This time, she didn't pick one up. "Let's go, hurry" Scarlett said, she immediately crawled through the window. Nimbly making her way to the basement, Amethist trailing behind her. "Let's split up and check the rooms," Scarlett suggested. Amethist agreed, and so they split up. Scarlett checking the left side while Amethist checked the left side. Scarlett went through every door but she found no one.
Just then, she heard the door creak open. "God damn it, those bats must have wrecked my window again" She heard a voice mumble. She was like a deer caught in headlights. She regained her composure and hid behind a shelf full of books and potions. She silently prayed that Amethist Amethist didn't get caught.
But, to her dismay. She saw the witch drag Amethist as the girl was struggling to escape. She couldn't do anything as she was afraid of getting caught. Fear engulfed her and panic set in as soon as she took in what had just happened. She tried not to make a sound as she looked at Amethist who was mouthing 'Get Out' to her. She took the hint and immediately dashed out, trying not to make a sound. She quickly rushed out the door and into the cave. She breathed in and out. Scarlett paced around the cave thinking of what to do, time was precious here and she didn't want to waste it. She walked to the entrance of the cave and peeked at the cottage. She noticed that everything was now silent, she found it a bit weird as Amethist would be screaming now.
All of a sudden, she felt something tap her shoulder. She looked behind her and jumped in fright, "Hello, Scarlett." it was the witch or rather... "Mom?" Scarlett cried out.
