"Mom?" Scarlett cried out. She walked backwards, but to her dismay she hit the wall. She was petrified, her legs started trembling as she closed her eyes. She felt a cold sensation. She peeked around. It seemed like she was at Old Man's Creek. She looked around to see herself, but a smaller version. Scarlett watched as she and her mom happily played with each other. She smiled solemnly, she missed these days. Suddenly, she felt herself regain consciousness. She opened her eyes only to be brought back to the harsh reality of this world. Scarlett had been knocked out cold, as she looked around. She saw her friends bound to the chair. Her eyes filled with tears, she looked at Krystal and began to silently cry, her face like a wet weekend. Her mind was on constant alert trying to find ways to escape. She tried to wake her friends up, but to no avail. She decides to take matters into her own hands. 'God damn it, how the hell am I supposed to get out of here' She thought to herself. Then, she noticed a glass shard in her pocket. It must have been the one that she got when she went here the first time with Krystal. She tried to reach her pocket, but her hands were tied, they scraped the back of the wooden chair causing her to wince in pain as she cut herself on the edge. An idea sparked in her mind, she moved her hand to the sharp edge of the chair and sawed her way through the rope that tied her hands together. Scarlett looked around, her heart racing as she stealthily moved to the corner of the room to hide before checking if the witch had come back.
To her relief, there was no one here, except for a couple of bats. But, they were all sleeping. Her steps were light yet they felt heavy, even the slightest of movement caused the dusty wooden floor to creak. She was trembling like a leaf, heart pounding out of her chest. She quickly went to untie her friends and shake them awake. "Wake up. Krystal." She said, as she shook the girl. But, she wouldn't wake up. In the end, she carried both Amethist and Krystal out of the house. Suddenly, she heard footsteps approaching her. She was like a deer caught in headlights, she was quick on her feet and regained her composure. She rushed to a tree near her and hid behind it, the 2 girls still weighing down on her shoulders. The sound grew louder, Scarlett was scared out of her wits. Then, the sound grew quieter, her heart started to calm down as she peeked at the direction the sound was coming from. The witch had left for her cottage. She stealthily made her way back to the nearby cave and settled the 2 sleeping beauties down.
The sun set in the sky as fresh colours brushed upon an artist's canvas, as if those rays were destined to create a great work of art - one given to those open to capturing simple moments in their soul, Scarlett looked at the sun setting and thought about how the little things in life were unappreciated. Almost dying twice, she lived to see another sunset. Her beautiful moment was stopped by a screeching sound nearby coming from the witch's cottage. Her eyes widened. She was exhausted and didn't want to run again. She slapped the girls beside her trying to wake them up. "WAKE UP!" She desperately yelled, she wasn't carrying those 2 as her legs couldn't hold up for long. Luckily, the girls groaned and got up. "No time to explain, we gotta go" Scarlett grabbed onto Krystal's hand and dashed. Amethist following behind. Krystal blushed at the sudden physical contact, but she followed the orders and ran as fast as her legs could carry her. The witch noticed them and was now in hot pursuit of them. They weaved through the forest, trying to lose the witch on their trail. They ran in the most unpredictable directions possible trying to lose her. But, they were running out of energy quickly. Especially Scarlett as she had just carried 2 people. As the witch drew closer to them, Amethist pushed her back with a blazing flame. It bought them some time to run away and find a hiding spot. They hid on the Mountain cliff, one wrong move and they would slip and fall down to their death. They each stood as still as possible, neither one of them dared to move. Until, Scarlett leaned to the side to check if the witch had gone back. And luckily, she did. She quickly guided everyone back to the cave and they rested there for a bit, Scarlett explaining everything to them. "Thanks for saving us Scarlett!" Krystal thanked, she hugged Scarlett and gave her a kiss on the cheek causing Scarlett to blush. "Uhm...N-No problem," She stuttered. Krystal giggled at Scarlett's cute response. Amethyst sat there smirking and chuckling at the whole situation. "Alright, guys. Let's go down, we can't afford the witch chasing us again." Scarlett ordered. She stood up and helped both of the girls up, leading them down the mountain. As they got closer to the foot of the mountain, a huge wave of relief washed over them. They all shuddered at the thought of almost dying.
"I'm sorry for dragging you into this mess guys." Scarlett apologised, she hung her head down low in shame as she thought about how they could have died. "I should've gone myself and not risked my-" Scarlett was cut off by Krystal, "No, it's not your fault, in fact that was the adventure of a lifetime! At least we didn't die, and what's in the past stays in the past!" She comforted Scarlett. Amethist hugged Scarlett who looked like she was on the verge of tears. "You saved us, don't think that you put us in danger. We willingly agreed." She said, matter of factly. "Thank you, I didn't think you guys would be this smart, judging about how you guys got kidnapped- but anyways." Scarlett giggled. Krystal playfully slapped her shoulder and Amethist scoffed teasingly.
