Chereads / Conquering the Lower Realms / Chapter 23 - A decision

Chapter 23 - A decision

"As both your left hand as well as head of the raven department, I suggest we retreat, wait for the enemy to invade, and then destroy the whole world with them in it. The workings of the new world type would still be unknown to the others, no one else would get the resources and we could eliminate enemy forces."

"And your personal opinion?"

"We should take it for ourselves."

Finally, her Majesty turned away from me and asked for the opinions of the others. As expected, Aurelia fully supported conquering. Yellow wanted to retreat, Red wanted to stay and fight. And lastly Rose, she had pulled out her phone and was playing a farming simulator evidently unwilling to give an opinion.

"Both options seem viable and I do value all your inputs. Therefore, I have decided that we will stay here and prepare to defend against the light alliance.

"We'll start by building our forces and expanding our influence. Also, we need to take care of the government threat here in the overworld. I'll leave you to discuss the actions you will take, I have to go or I will be late. Contact me via group chat if the need arises."

Her Majesty stood up, teleported out of the mansion, and ran off. It was unusual for her to be in such a hurry. Yellow gave a rare smirk pulling out her phone.

"Game Con opens up at 7:00 sharp but if you don't want to wait in line you need to be there at least half an hour prior to opening."

Ah, we were dumped in favor of some strategy game. Her addiction had truly reached new heights.

"Don't worry, Game Con ends in three days. By then she will have returned to normal."

That was fine then. Time to get some work done.

"How about we all exchange information for now. I'll start."

I told them about the development in the lower realm I had entered and my recruitment of Edward. Next up was Aurelia's account.

"My entry point was in the Saital kingdom near the capital, Saitala. I entered the city and registered as an adventurer. I tried to keep a low profile for the moment but when I had the opportunity to win a merchant guild in an arena battle I acted. Now I am the guild master of the 'traveling silver coin' guild."

Aurelia completed her account looking mighty proud of her achievements. Granted, owning a merchant guild certainly was a good starting position. Going by tradition, Rose would next take the word but she merely looked over at Red.

"Both Rose and I entered into the same world from different points. It's an extreme desert type realm that is filled with night-active undead and humanoid life is only made possible by oases that give off life energy that repels the undead.

"Rose and I teamed up, she created an artificial oasis like the others but bigger, also providing food and I took care of combat. We only have a few inhabitants so far but they will quickly grow. I might add that bunny people make up the majority of the population of the realm."

Lastly, it was Yellow's turn to talk. While she hadn't entered a lower realm her account would be the most interesting. She had been keeping tabs on what the government was doing. Since we would have to stop hiding sooner or later anyway we would definitely have a conflict with them.

"Firstly, they were able to detect our released auras back in Marienburg but weren't able to pinpoint our location. They were also very confused when I flew around in the sky without concealing myself. Therefore enemy detection techniques are completely useless against us.

"In their confusion, the chief of police went to ask the ex-warden about our location. In the process of negotiating the chief of police revealed some thought about a rebellion.

"Furthermore, he said that most personnel from the prison was probably killed by the president. The others are imprisoned with the ex-warden. Except for Aia, she was taken away by Ken and I had to do some digging to find her. She's in a dungeon below the president's private estate but I couldn't find out much more due to the heavy security and my laziness."

"Do you know anything about what's happening in that dungeon?"

"Well, Ken has a little sister with a brother complex... I hacked into her computer and found some mildly disturbing video content. She seems to enjoy filming Aia while she whips her bloody. Healing magic has some very dark uses."

"So Ken and his little sister are torturing Aia, we might be able to use that to our advantage."

"Actually, Ken seems to be a decent guy. In his own creepy way that is. In one of his sister's videos, he confesses his love to Aia and offers to bring her away. She rejected him and since then he hasn't entered the dungeon anymore."

"The way I see it, this is a perfect opportunity to add a bit of fire to those rebellious currents. Since we caused a complete shutdown we might as well bust her out."

"Sure we can do that but what about the ex-warden talking about our location?"

"I was getting to that, Red. The ex-warden gave them the location of a lower realm. The military then sent a unit there but they lost contact."

"Is it the lower realm showed on the map in his storage bracelet?"

"How did you know?"

"If they went there the unit is dead for sure. The ex-warden's uncle brought the horn of a unicorn from there..."

"Wait, is it that realm?"

"Yes! It must be the gardens of Eden."

"That unit is done for!"

"Then we can just disregard them. If they want to send in more lambs to the slaughter it's their call. Let's focus on what we can do. Namely, kickstarting this rebellion while planting our people in their ranks and expanding into the lower realms."
