In Aurelia's current emotional state I should read the letters first. Lest she ripped them to shreds before reading the content. I had a very good idea who the first letter belonged to and Aurelia wouldn't take well to it.
I opened the first letter and read out loud.
"Dear miss Aurelia, I apologize for running away but I simply cannot stand being someone else's possession. The employees have also decided to leave so I fear you will find yourself alone upon your return. I am deeply grateful to you for resolving my father's debt and should you ever be in need I will aid you however possible.
"Please do not attempt to find me. I have hidden my identity and will surely find my prince charming whom I will marry soon. I hope that you will attend our wedding as a guest of honor and give us your best wishes.
"Yours most sincerely... Priscilla."
Well, I most certainly couldn't let Aurelia read this letter. This Priscilla was completely immersed in her own world of fairy tales thinking some prince charming would actually exist solely for her. Goddess help the fool who was close to her when Aurelia found them.
All the honeyed words and dreamy imagination contained in this letter would act like little needles pierced into Aurelia's heart. She'd be hurt but that most certainly wouldn't hinder her from pursuing the girl.
On to the second letter that would hopefully bear better news.
"Miss Aurelia, two days have passed since you left and I am unable to keep the employees in line any longer. They all wish to resign and receive payment for the remainder of the month. Under their insistence, I have decided to relent and allow them to take the remaining stock of goods as payment.
"Secretary Arahnia."
More bad news, just perfect. So what's the third letter about? Did the building get sold or something?
"Miss Aurelia, I deeply apologize for my incompetence regarding the recent situation. I am now the only employee of the guild and there is little I can do here. To atone for my failure as your secretary and the person in charge I will step back from my position. I hope that the traveling silver coin will be brought to even greater heights under your care.
"Former Secretary Arahnia."
Overly formal in her way of putting things but the situation was laid bare before me in all clarity. Time to break the news to Aurelia.
I navigated through the building by following Aurelia's scent and entered into a room with a large princess bed. I could only assume this to be Priscilla's room and Aurelia stood there before the empty bed, unmoving.
"She left, didn't she?"
I could have sworn I heard her cry before I had entered. Now her voice was monotonous without the slightest bit of emotion in it.
"Was she that pretty? I rarely see you this hurt when your love life goes south."
"She was my type. And I guess I don't do well with rejections."
"No one takes well to being rejected. You shouldn't beat yourself up about it. Anyway, she left you a letter which I will summarize for you."
"Give it to me, I'll read it myself!"
"I don't think that is a good idea. Her choice of words is rather naive and childish. You reading her letter will only make things worse so I'd advise against it."
"Give me my letter!"
"Don't say I didn't warn you. Here you go."
I handed Priscilla's letter to Aurelia. She snatched the letter from my hands and started to read through it. Not long after the letter burst into flames and was reduced to ashes.
"We are going after her, now!"
"At least you still have the presence of mind to bring me along."
"Can you find her?"
"Is that even a question?"
I unleashed my mind like a primordial flood and let it wash over every mind in reach. With every second passing, more minds appeared in my scope of detection and soon there were millions of them. Sorting through all these minds to find one specific mind took a fair amount of mental capacity but I soon found Priscilla.
"She's north of here. Based on the high number of surrounding minds she's in a city. I've memorized her location, we can leave whenever you are ready."
"Let's go! I must collect what is mine!"
We used an invisibility spell and flew out of the city in broad daylight heading north. Since I knew where we were going we promptly reached the city in question.
"She's hiding in Galavin? I didn't think she'd take the most obvious place."
"Mind enlightening me as to why Galavin would be the most obvious choice for her to go to?"
"Galavin is Saital's main trade city and beside the capital, it has the highest population. As the daughter of a merchant Priscilla certainly has a few acquaintances here. It would also be the first place where I'd look for her."
"Safe to say she was not expecting you to look for her after reading her letter."
"Please don't remind me of that infuriating message. If I hear her say or write prince charming one more time people will get hurt."
"Weren't you once just like her? Searching for your prince charming who would take you away from all this."
"Yes, a long time ago I too was young and foolish. However, after suffering the consequences I grew up and learned to face reality."
"Wouldn't it be better to let the girl go then, let her enjoy those dreams a little longer?"
"We all have to wake up eventually. I'm not about to become some wishy-washy warrior of self-proclaimed justice. I won her in that arena duel, she is mine."
And at that word the sky began to rumble. Dark storm clouds appeared out of nowhere and soon the sunrays were no more than a distant memory. Rain began to fall as veritable torrents of water were released by the clouds and cyan colored winds began to howl as they blew through the city streets.
Accompanied by a horrifyingly loud thunderclap azure bolts of lightning descended from the sky briefly illuminating the city that had been cast into darkness.
The streets were now empty, no soul foolish enough to step outside during such a bizarre storm. I could feel their minds being clouded by fear wondering what god they had angered for this to happen.
