Chereads / My Demon Lord Master / Chapter 2 - Reincarnation

Chapter 2 - Reincarnation

"Welcome, Demon Lord Yami." a mysterious voice said as a glowing body of light floated towards him.

This body had no face but was merely a humanoid shaped ball of light. This was the keeper of the void.

"You must be the keeper of the void, am I right?" Yami replied as he realized his sliced off arm had was now reattached to his body.

"Yes, I am. I was not expecting to see you here for another hundred or so years." the glowing figure said with a laugh. "So, what brings you here so early?"

Without replying, the demon lord dashed forward. Although, there was no floor, he was already able to fly and even walk on air.

"Eternal rest" he yelled as a large blast of red mana shot out of his hand. The attack was directed towards the glowing figure who did not move from his spot.

Rather than dodging the attack, the glowing figure absorbed it with one if his palms. He continued to walk forward while laughing.

Yami also began to laugh as he discovered that even the demon lord (himself) could not defeat the entity that stood before him. He was the strongest demon to ever live and in fact was among the strongest in the world.

The glowing figure now stood in front of Yami who was not the tallest but rather on the short side.

Bang.

Yami threw a strong punch to the gut of the figure. He could not beat it, but he definitely was not afraid of it. Technically, he was already dead.

The figure did not budge nor did his body move an inch.

Yami continued with a barrage of strikes but they had the same effect. He laughed once more.

"Sleep" the glowing figure whispered as he touched the forehead of the demon lord. Yami fell asleep instantly.

During his deep sleep, hundreds of years passed by. Many changes happened throughout the planet he had originated from. But none of it could be noticed by him.

Finally, Yami's eyes opened. Before him stood the glowing figure with it's hand still on his forehead.

"Did you touch me for hundreds of years?" Yami asked with a smile on his face as he jumped backwards away from the figure.

"Now is not the time for jokes, your time has come. You will now be reincarnated. As you know, I watch over the void of reincarnation but I have no control over the reincarnation itself. I am however, aware of what your reincarnation will look like."

Yami's smile did not die down but only grew bigger. It was his time to return to the planet and start a new life. Would he become a demon lord again? Would he end up as a human this time? Either way, he was sure he would rise to the top once more.

"Demon Lord Yami, you were among the most powerful in your time of living. You managed to become the first Demon Lord. You gained more powers than anyone ever had before, even managing to open a portal into the void of reincarnation."

Yami sat there flattered, as a few of his accomplishments were read off to him. It was then, the glowing figured revealed information of his reincarnation which caused Yami's smile to finally fade away.

"You will be tasked with a new form of reincarnation. You will become a mind within another body rather than gaining one your own."

Yami began to glow a bright red aura. His eyes became a deep red as his anger was clearly visible.

"What do you mean I wont get my own body? I plan to rise to the top once more." he yelled as he charged towards the glowing figure like a bright red comet.

An eye appeared on the figure, a bright aura of it's own surrounded Yami, stopping him in place.

"You are not the first to get this form of reincarnation. Only those who have passed beyond a certain amount of power has been tasked with this job."

An enraged Yami with all his might could not escape the binding aura. "What do you mean job? I am not getting paid nor did i sign up for this. Give me a proper reincarnation!" he yelled.

A burst of fire, blazed out of his mouth towards the glowing figure. It stood there unaffected.

"In addition, the body you will be put in is a human. A human that your peace treaty still protects to this day. You will be tasked with helping this human get stronger and unlike your previous life, you will be a hero rather than a villain.

"Hey, what's the big idea you damn giant torch. I will live how I want, only I can control my destiny. Whether I become a hero or villain is up to me. I will do what I want and you cannot stop me,"

Without saying another word, the figure simply turned and walked away. Further and further until the bright glow of it's body could no longer be seen.

The aura around Yami disappeared, finally freeing him from his binds. He decided to chase behind the glowing figure that was already out of his sights. As he took a step, he began to fall. He could not float. He could not fly. He simply fell as if in a bottomless void.

================================================================

As his eyes opened, Yami found himself within a dark room. He could not see or hear anything. Was he still in the void?

Before him appeared a screen. It showed green grass. An arm extended from out of view. It looked like he was laying down on the floor. He could see out of a pair of eyes from on the screen.

He could not move or speak. He laid there puzzled.

A few minutes passed before the body began to move on it's own. Slowly standing up before looking around.

Yami was once again puzzled before it finally connected like pieces of a puzzle. He was not reincarnated with his own body but rather as another mind within one.

What he saw now, was whatever the host was seeing.

He could not move the body himself but only sit within the mind?

"Damn it" he yelled.

The body began to look around once again.

"Who said that" a young boy asked. That boy was the real host of the body.

"Was he able to hear me?" Yami thought as he tested out his theory.

"Hey human brat, can your me?"

"Who's there? Yes, I can hear you. Show yourself." the boy in control of the body replied.

A smile appeared on Yami's face. Maybe all was not lost. Maybe he could find a way to take over the body? He could even lead the boy to do his bidding until then.
