Lilly walked up to the King as the other maids made a path for Lilly to be able to walk clearly. She looked around innocently, but no one was brave enough to look her in the eyes except for Valerie.
She didn't want to look at Valerie, who would? Why would she want to look at a girl who helped her go from the Queen to a maid in the castle? Why would she want to look at someone who stole her love? Why would she want to look at someone who caused all this suffering and pain because of their existence? Why would she want to look at Valerie?
Lilly's eyes bubbled in hot tears 'I shouldn't have done it! I knew I shouldn't have done it! That stupid girl! I hate her, I hate her, I hate her!' Lilly thought.
The King shifted his gaze from the crowd to Lilly, she easily got angry but never so angry that she'd cry. The King smirked then shifted his gaze, not back to the crowd, but one person in the crowd in particular.
He looked at Valerie who had sorrow in her eyes, she didn't know much when law came into question, but she knew that Lilly was going to be beheaded as she had contact with witches not once but twice.
'How odd, although Valerie knows that Lilly set her up and she's the reason she had to clean the ballroom floor with a toothbrush, she's still sad for her death.' Malphus scoffed as Lilly came to stand beside him with her head facing the ground.
Malphus nodded to the butler and the butler came up to him with his hands behind his back, he passed Malphus something but no one could see what it was.
"If anyone here dares work with witches again, they will inhabit the same fate as Lilly here." Malphus pulled a shotgun from behind his back, and before Lilly had a chance to run she got shot directly in the heart.
Everyone gasped in shock, some of the little children were crying 'I'm glad I decided to make Alan wait in our room, I mean he didn't have to kill her in front of us' thought Valerie as she uncontrollably cried. No, she didn't like Lilly, but she hated to see her die so brutally. She hated the fact that Lilly was going to die at all. Just because you hate a person, doesn't make it right to like their death. Think about how their mother would feel!
Malphus dismissed everyone to go back to their duties except Valerie and a few other maids. He wanted Valerie to come and meet him in his study and wanted the other maids to clean up the dead body.
Valerie met Malphus in his study after comforting some of the little ones. They were scared silly by the loud noise, the blood, and the dead body. Valerie was the one to do it, as the other maids found theirs screams too unbearable to go anywhere near.
Valerie knocked on the door, not hearing any answer she slowly creaked it open to find Malphus at his desk drinking coffee looking at something.
"So, you still feel remorse for the girl even after she tried framing you to be a black witch?" Malphus said, looking up at her only after he finished reading.
"Well, she's still a person. She has family who will miss her gravely, and a no longer-going-to-live child, who will not be born as they were supposed to." Valerie walked over and sat down in front of Malphus.
"No one would want to marry her after what she did, even the people in the next Kingdom over know's about it. Ashton, and Fidleson." Malphus took another sip of coffee while still looking into her eyes.
"..." How was she suppose to respond to that? Fidleson never meddled with any Kingdom. They don't what's going on in Fidleson, and Fildeson doesn't know what's going on anywhere else, so if the people of Fidleson knew about it that means what happened was horrible.
"You know, I've never properly thanked you for saving me that night. Therefore, I have planned something for us. Meet me in the garden at 10 pm tonight, wear something nice. You are dismissed."
Valerie got up and left the room 'Did the King really just ask me on a date, which I couldn't say yes or no to, and get me out of the room as quickly as possible? Hm, even the King has his self doubts.' thought Valerie as she scanned her closet looking for something to wear for the night ahead of her.
