Chapter 2 - Fateful Meeting

Her mother asked her to meet with the suitors, even if they have already met. Yua already knew some of them only wanted her for her beauty, but still agreed to her mother. It has been a while since she has met them. Maybe they changed their thoughts, maybe someone from another town would come to love me for myself and not only my beauty. Her mother took care of everything saying she will begin the meetings in a few days.

On her way to her hidden sanctuary, Yua thought, 'Will I have to run off every night after I marry as well? (laughing at the answer) Of course not Yua! You will be married, having to keep your husbands bed warm at night will be a part of your responsibility. Father and Mother are both happy and in love. Could I be as well, even if it means giving up martial arts?'

***********************

Being dangerous practicing martial arts with light only from the stars in the sky. Yua decided to dance. Remembering her favorite dance she began to slowly glide around. Eyes closed, getting lost in the dance, letting the soft music in her mind drown out her worries, she didn't notice someone approaching her. Feeling herself being twirled around, and pulled into a strong embrace. She woke up from her trance, stomping on the intruders' foot, and escaping his embrace. Quickly turning to him in a stance ready to fight, with her dagger in hand.

The intruder immediately apologized for startling 'him'. The intruder introduced himself as Kenzo and explained that he recently moved into town. And while he was walking through the forests he had gotten lost only to come across a mystic beauty. "Seeing your graceful movements with your face hidden by your hood, I had mistaken you for a lady, my apologies", he said as he gave a slight bow.

Hesitant to speak, not wanting to give herself away since the man in front of her thinks her to be a guy. She kept her eyes on him as she stood up straight. Kenzo didn't make any attempt to get any closer to her. She simply said in a low voice, trying to sound manly, "Follow me", then began to walk past him. Kenzo followed behind 'him' quietly and quickly. It was amazing to see how fast yet graceful the person in front of him was walking, it gave the impression that they were floating through the forest instead of walking.

Within what seemed like only a few minutes, they arrived back in town. Before Kenzo could say anything else to 'Kenichi', 'he' was gone.

**********Kenzo's POV

I wonder how this town will be. Hmm, how long should I stay? Paying the man at the front desk, he gathered his suitcase and headed towards his room. After unpacking he decided to take a look around town, get a feel for it. He soon came across a young lady with strong green eyes and long straight hair as dark as night. The colors of her Kimono, matched with her strong aura made her feel beautiful yet not to be messed with. He wanted to meet her, but she disappeared into the crowd before he got to her. Sighing at his loss, he began to walk once more up and down the town's streets. He wondered who the eye-catching young lady was, hoping to have a chance to meet her again. Traveling all over, he has seen a wide range of women: from ugly to breathe taking, well mannered rich ladies to ladies in a lower class, but never has he seen such a beauty with a dangerous look. It is not the danger that will seduce you into bed, but the kind of danger that will get you hurt.

*******************

With his mind lost in thoughts of the young lady, he ended up being engulfed in a thick green carpet of trees. It was like he was in another world, surrounded by tall trees, a variety of sweet-smelling wildflowers, plants, and animals scurrying around. Then, out of the midst of trees, he saw a person who appeared to be dancing gracefully with the wind, 'who.... is .... ' like a moth drawn to fire, he couldn't help but get close to the mystical being in front of him. Reaching out, twirling her into his embrace, she felt so nice, her smell....he inhaled deeply.... before she broke away. The fleeting pain in his foot woke him out of his trance as he looked straight into the fairy's jade eyes. 'It's her!' He shouted to himself, before he took in the rest of her or um, him in? Thinking that no lady would be in such a pose and with a weapon, well maybe if she was an assassin. Looking at the 'mystical being' in front of him from head to toe. He apologized to 'him', introducing himself, explaining that he couldn't resist joining in on the dance and that he met no harm. Never once trying to get near the 'boy', as he didn't come to fight nor was he able to turn away from such captivating eyes. Jade- eyes dark and mysterious, just like the lady he has seen earlier. 'It has to be her, but why the dress-up? Or is it her twin?'

**************

Hearing 'his' voice, "follow me", Kenzo obediently followed. As Kenzo followed behind in silence, he began to wonder if he had eaten something rotten for breakfast or if this town was guarded by beautiful mystical creatures. First, it was the dangerous beauty who vanished into thin air and now he is following this young 'fairy boy' who he met in the middle of the forest, dancing under the starlit sky. The young 'boy' seems even more like a fairy floating through the forest as he walks gracefully yet fast. His thoughts starting turning to the thought of the mysterious disappearing beauty and this fairy boy to be the same person. Thinking back on the different women he has met, he noticed that only women smell sweet and this 'fairy boy' smelled extremely sweet. 'Should I take off his hood? His hair...NO.... touching him again or his hoody will definitely cause us to fight and I am too tired from wandering to fight this boy tonight.'

*************************

As the town came into view, Kenzo looked happy, glad to be able to sleep in his bed instead of the forest floor. Turning to say thanks, he realized that the 'fairy boy' was already gone. 'Hmph, who would have thought I would meet two interesting people on my first day arriving in this town. Both of which have such captivating green eyes and disappear in a second. Coincidence or not? I really hope to meet them 'both' again.' Kenzo was thinking more and more about how both people could be the same, smirking, 'Only one way to find out.' With that last thought, it was decided that he would probably be calling this place home from now on.
