Chapter 4 - Marriage

Hayami answered the door as Yua was out in the garden. Kenzo introduced himself explaining how he had recently moved to this town and has been working at the Blacksmith's shop for a few weeks. Hayami let him in for a cup of tea and asked why he thought to come by their home. He explained that he had met her daughter a couple of times, but never had the chance to properly introduce himself, so now that he had time he thought to do so.

Hayami smiled thinking of how her daughter's beauty has captivated yet another man. She excused herself while she went to get her daughter and sure enough, it was her, the mysterious being who keeps disappearing in a split second. The moment their eyes met, a glitter passed through her eyes, he would have missed it if he wasn't staring at her so intently. He stood up and introduced himself. She as well introduced herself and questioned why someone she has 'never met' come to greet her formally. He explained that he has seen her a couple of times, but neither time was he able to speak with her. Her mother suggested that they talk in the garden. Kenzo could tell that she wasn't happy about it, but was glad that she didn't go against her mother. As they walked in the garden, Kenzo spoke first.

Kenzo: "You are very good at disappearing."

Yua: ignored him

Kenzo: "Is it from your martial arts training?"

Yua: while they were still walking, "You say I am good at disappearing? When did we even meet for you to say I disappeared?"

Kenzo: "On the day I arrived I was heading to the hotel when I first saw you before I could reach you, you disappeared into the crowd. Then that same day, at night I saw you dancing in the starlit sky, you took me back to town, but before I could say thank you, you vanished into thin air. Honestly, I thought that you were some type of beautiful mystical being until I heard of a girl whose father's name is Kenichi, then I knew it was you both times and had to make sure to meet you.

Yua: abruptly stopped turned to face Kenzo who was walking beside her, curious as to what his intentions are. "Are you here to ask for my hand in marriage?"

Staring back into her mysterious pools of green eyes, he didn't know what she was thinking or wanting him to say. He hadn't thought about marrying her, he just wanted to make sure he wasn't going crazy, seeing ghosts, and to confirm that both disappearing beauties were the same person.

Kenzo: No.

Yua: Frustration took over her nervousness of him telling on her or not, since he is the only man who has sot her out for something other than marriage, "Then why come to my home to introduce yourself again?"

Whether by mistake or willingly, she had agreed to her being the person he saw that night in the forests. He explained what he was just thinking, as well as how he would like to get to know her. Taking in his features, she finally realized that he is quite tall, his posture and speech emitted manliness and his light blue eyes only showed sincere curiosity. 'Reddish-brown hair? Is he a foreigner?' Taken aback by her quietness and her checking him out, he just stood, hoping she would give him a chance to become friends.

Yua: "Where are you from?"

Kenzo: "America, my mother is American and my father is Japanese. Kenzo is my Japanese name, Ken is my American name."

Yua: "Are you with your parents?"

Kenzo: "No. Before passing away, he asked me to meet his family in Japan. After meeting you, I decided to stay in Japan, well after meeting them and you, I had decided." he can't believe he said that but thankful she didn't pay any attention or chose to ignore it.

Yua: "How old are you?"

Kenzo: "21 yrs old and you?"

Yua: "16"

They continued to talk, this time in English while resuming their walk through the garden. Yua found out that Kenzo also knew martial arts and they came to an agreement to meet up to go together to the cave on the side of the mountain to spar. Kenichi and Hayami stopped asking their daughter to go on marriage interviews as they knew she was spending time with Kenzo. Both of them liked Kenzo and were happy that he became their daughter's friend. After a year of knowing each other Kenzo finally asked Yua for her hand in marriage. Both parents said that they could be engaged, but not marry until Kenzo got his own home and was able to support Yua. By Yua's 18th birthday, she had received a wedding reception instead of a birthday celebration.

Yua's parents were even happier when Yua had her first child, a baby boy. Kenzo took good care of his wife as well as their son and they lived happily ever after.
