Yesterday was my second time seeing Riley cry. I hate seeing her cry. I hate to think that something bothered her enough to cry. Pretty girls don't cry. No one should ever make a girl cry and feel good about it.
After kissing her yesterday, she looked a lot happier the next day. She looked more cheery and brighter. I didn't bring up the fact that we kissed, I wanted to make sure she was comfortable enough. Today I had to visit my family for another family dinner. I decided to go again this time, I needed a good laugh right about now.
When I arrived all of my brothers were standing in front of our large house."What's going on?" I asked as I stood next to Jay. He wore a long coat with a sweater underneath."Mom told us to wait outside in the cold, and she hasn't been back outside for five minutes now." Jay said as he angrily stuffed his hands in his coat pockets, he looked so mad.
Soon enough the front door had finally opened and Eli sighed out loud."Finally! Can we please come inside now, we're freezing out butts off out here."Eli said as he walked closer to the door. Mom stood proudly in an all red outfit with a matching coat."Boys I have big news, I also have some news to share with Liam as well."
This isn't about what I think it is, is it?
"Firstly your father and I are going on a Christmas holiday so you boys can enjoy yourselves,"She smiled brightly showing her bright smile through her red lipstick. Our mom understood the most how much we liked our alone time, especially when I had to live with four older brothers all the way until high school.
"And secondly, Liam will officially be taking over the family business!" She said and threw her arms up excitedly. My eyes widened. I immediately walked towards her,"Mom what are you doing?" She began to chuckle and looked back at my brothers."I'm just announcing the big news!" She said and held her hands together proudly.
I looked back to see my siblings expression. Not one of them had a pleased look, especially Dean, he looked annoyed almost."Why are you forcing this on him? Or any of us for that matter?" Dean said as he folded his arms. My mom laughed slightly, she looked surprised of his question.
"I'm just doing what's best for you all." She smiled to all of us warmly while Eli looked disgusted."Yeah and the best thing for us also happens to be the best thing for you? You're not slick." Eli folded his arms and walked closer to mom."So what's the game plan when he files a restraining order on you?" He squinted his eyes and she gasped loudly."Liam would never do such a thing." She said as she looked at me for assurance.
I only smiled at her.
I wasn't sure if I would actually put a restraining order on her or not, but regardless I love her.
Suddenly there was a hand placed on my shoulder. I looked up to see Sean looking at mom sternly."I think it would be best to let us choose our own path in life." He said and my mom was about to open her mouth to protest."I think it would also be best if you took over the company, you'd get your hands dirty a little bit, but you'll be the most powerful woman known to planet earth." Jay said from behind us.
She looked at me with her eyes furrowed, she wanted me to tell her that I wanted this. She wanted me to tell her that I was on her side and there was no way I was going to say that. She went from being the closest person to me to the one of the least closest person to me.
"I'm going to continue to study and pursue the girl I like while you take over the company." I looked at her worriedly. I never really talked back to my mom and I never really straight up said no to her either. I learned that's it's easier that way. She looked around at all of us before sighing and rubbing her temple with her index finger.
"Fine, I'll give the paparazzi a new story on how the youngest son of the Henry family has officially grown up." She said as she rested her hand on my face."I'm not sure you're father would be too happy about this." Eli huffed in annoyance,"Who cares what dad thinks anyway? He's never satisfied."
"Who made that man that mad?"
"It was probably you." Jay said as he rolled his eyes. Eli was about to protest, but mom stopped him before he could go on."All I want is for you all to happy, I think I've been persuaded by your father, I haven't been thinking for myself." Her smile was warm and bright, but her eyes looked sad."If you want what's best for us then you should allow us to do what we want." Sean said with a forced smile on his face.
"Can we go inside now? I can't feel my hands anymore." Jay said as he started to walk up the steps of the large house. I began to follow him inside and I saw dad sitting at the dinning table with his reading glasses on."What took you all so long, I'm starving!" He said and watched as the rest of us walked into the house with shivering hands and shoulders.
"Doesn't matter, we had a great conversation about you." Dean said as he smiled at dad. He took his glasses off and set them on the table to look at him sternly."And what was it about?" Dean laughed slightly before folding his arms,"I'm sure you already know, judging from the fact the you know everything." Dad didn't look like he was catching on.
"Liam's not taking over the company and there's nothing you can do about old man." Eli said as he lazily sat himself at the table. Dad looked around the table with his eyes furrowed. He looked like he wanted to scream."So what'll it be? We file a restraining order, or you leave us alone?" Eli had a smug look on his face knowing he won the argument.
Just know, that it was always my intention, to do what I want.
