"Wow, you're full of surprises Mr. Henry."
I looked at Riley nervously. A few hours had past and I showed Riley the unfortunate and weird incident that happened to my house involving my stalker. She stared at the ceiling,"Who even thinks of doing something like this, and why would someone do something like this?" Riley asked as she stepped further into the bedroom.
I knew she had thousands of questions circling her head right now, but I'm not sure I would be able to answer them all."My stalker is very creative." I said as I inspected my room for the second time."Have the police been contacted?" She says as she starts picking up blankets that were tossed off my bed.
"They have, but they haven't found anything that leads to the exact person."
Riley skimmed the room one time before her eyes squinted, she picked up a short strand of straight brown hair."Who do you know has straight short brown hair?" She said and looked at me questioningly, I shrugged my shoulders at her.
"So what you'll just give up?" She asked and started to walk towards me, I stopped to think. On one hand if try and find the stalker myself it'll take too long, plus I'm sure no one would confess to being my stalker that easily.
On the other other hand, not inspecting every person would be a waste, because I could eliminate the ones who are obviously not the stalker and keep the ones who possibly are. Now that I think about it I can already eliminate some people off of my list, for example Melanie. She has short straight black hair so it couldn't be her.
It can't be one of her friends and it can't possibly be Day either. So that leaves me with about 30 or so people.
How was I going to find them by then?
"Then I have an idea." Riley said and I looked at her surprised."Wow how smart of you, what's your great idea Ms. Glenn?" She looked at me surprised,"How do you know my last name? I never told you." She said, completely forgetting her great idea."I have my ways, now don't get distracted Ms. Glenn, tell what your great idea is." I said as I leaned close to her.
"First of all back up, personal space please, and my idea was why don't you catch them in the act of stalking?" She said and I stared at her confused, just by my face she could she needed to do more explaining."To put it simply your going to stalk your stalker." She and I widened my eyes.
"Wow you really are smart, but where do we start?" Riley paused to think for a moment,"You should wait in front of your house, don't enter under any circumstance. The stalker will likely come again, so show up to school and leave early, wait in front of house, but stay out of sight. This way when the stalker arrives you can catch them in the act." I looked at her in amazement.
I'm the luckiest guy alive.
"Then what about you? Won't you miss me if I'm not around as much?" I said and she laughed slightly."If I say I am will you lay off our plan to spend time with me?" She said and walked past me and into the hallway."So are you going to miss me?" I asked again and she sighed.
"For the sake of the plan running smoothly and to prevent you from chasing after me, I'm going to have to say no. I won't be missing you, but you know my real answer is yes." She said and I stared at her blankly,"You're so confusing."
"That's the point, Mr. Henry." She said and winked at me."I'm going to help my dad out with repainting the house, you stay here and do something with this place." She said and I sighed,"Yes ma'am." She smiled brightly to me before grabbing her coat and closing the door behind her.
I looked around my apartment, there were a lot things I needed to do so I could catch this person. The fact that someone would willing stalk someone else is crazy to me, but now that I think about they were also planning to stalk Day, but he doesn't live with me anymore. I wonder if they found out where he lives and I wonder if he's still having complications with the stalker.
I doubt they went as far as putting on his ceiling like they did with me.
Suddenly there was a loud knock at the door, it had already gotten pretty dark outside I hesitantly peeked through the glass in the door. I squinted my eyes and immediately opened the door when I realized who it was."Eli? What are you doing here?" I asked and he laughed.
He's definitely drunk.
"Hey could you not be so loud?" He said and pushed past me to lay face first on my couch."Eli why aren't you at the house?" I asked and he sat up lazily,I noticed that his eyes were slightly red. Was he crying?"Eli answer me honestly, did you get dumped?"
"Has the world turned on me?"
I stared at him, why's he being like this?"Why aren't you at the house Eli?" I asked again, but all he did was stare blankly in front of him.
"Mom and Dad came back home early and Jay didn't tell me about it. Mom found me home and got angry so she kicked me out. I didn't think much of it, because I still had a lot of places I could to, a lot of places I could rent. When I checked my card all the money I got from my 'outings' was gone, all I had left was 50 dollars, dad froze my card. 50 dollars isn't enough to buy me a room for a night. I went to Jay's house so he'd let me crash, but when I got there he wasn't even home, he didn't answer his phone either. So I decided to go get drunk and cry. I wanted to cry and yell, I hated myself for dropping out of high school, I hated myself for thinking I could drink my problems away, I hated that everyone was moving forward and I wasn't," His breath got caught in his throat and his eyes began to swell.
"I'm a 31 year old free loader living on the streets. I'm not married and I don't even have a job. I still have the brain of my 17 year old self." He said and wiped his eyes."Eli.." I said as I made my way over to him. "Do you remember Mai?" He asked as he finally looked me in the eye for the first time today.
Mai?
"She was the first person that understood me, I though I was going to marry her, but one day I came home, she was with another man, two other men. She couldn't even be considerate and cheat on me with one man, but even than the world goes on." He looked at the floor then back at me,"So even when I show up at your apartment drunk and crying, don't pity me, It's the last thing I need." He stood up and walked towards my hallway.
"Lend me Day's room for the night, I'll be out of your hair by dawn."He said and disappeared into Day's old room. I've never seen him like this before, I never knew there was a side like this too him.
All I knew was that he was my care free older brother, nothing more, nothing more.
That's all I knew.
