Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: Just An Accident

We finally made it to our flight. I grab my phone from my purse. I put my earphones on and tap down to my playlist. I love listening to Jason Mraz most especially when I am traveling. His voice is very pleasant to the ears and his songs are just so good. I sat down comfortably on our seat and closed my eyes for a while. The plane arrived in not less than an hour. I took a peak on the window and my eyes were sparkling. I can't believe it. New Jersey is so beautiful. The starry buildings are so fascinating. The view from up here is so perfect. This is my first time going in to New Jersey but I am already starting to love this place. The thought about exploring this place gives me thrills and excitement already. The plane landed on the ground and all the passengers were instructed to pull off their seatbelts gently. The stewardess guided us to the stairs and we went down one by one. The guard helped us carry our luggage as we made our way to the entrance of the airport.

"Thank you." My mom gave the guard a sweet smile and gave him some tip.

"You are always welcome! And oh by the way, welcome to New Jersey." He replied with a big smile and went back to his duty. Just when he was gone, my tummy started rumbling and my mom laugh. "Let's go and grab something to eat." I nod in reply. We made our way to the crowd and my mom stopped by fast food chain.

"How about fries and hotdogs?" The lady asked.

"Hmm... Do you have burgers here?" I asked, trying not to sound so demanding.

"Oh yes we do. What kind of burger do you want?" Her index finger is pointing at the menu that was placed near the counter.

"Just the plain one with lots of mustard please." I replied. "What about you mom?"

"Oh I'll have the fries and hotdog in a bun please. Also add some mustard ang cheese if you may." I roll my eyes and she laugh with a smirk. We sat down on the stool infront of the counter and minutes later, the lady served our food. My mom handed the bill to the lady. "Thank you." She grinned and my mom looked at me as she took a bite on her fries. "So? Do you like New Jersey?"

"Yes, I really do mom. This place is so great." I said joyfully and my mom seemed to be relief. Way back last month, when I passed the scholarship examination I whined and begged for her not to let me go to New Jersey. Well I admit, at first I really don't like it here but now after witnessing the beauty of this city, I'm going to take back what I had said because this place is wonderful and I can't wait to stroll around this city. After we took the last bite on our food, we went outside the airport and my mom called a cab.

"So are you ready?" She beamed as we went inside the cab.

"I think so." I responded with a faint smile. I'm ready but why do I have this butterflies in my stomach? I'm nervous and I think it's because I've never been to a big university before. This is obviously my first time and I'm not used to meeting other people. But I need to boost my confidence cause' today is gonna be a big day.

"Where are we going ma'am?" The driver asked as he turned the wheel.

"New Jersey City University." My mom replied with a grin. I just stared at the window the whole time. "Hey don't be nervous sweetie. You're smart and pretty, I know for sure that they will really like you." She held my hand and I felt so relaxed. 'Chill, Emma. Chill.' I said to myself. Minutes later we arrived at New Jersey State University. The driver parked the cab on the front gate and I'm starting to have a nervous breakdown. We stepped outside and I took a deep breath before entering the gate. Oh my gosh! The students in here are so classy and I don't think I'm gonna fit in.

An old man in a suit and tie welcomed us with a big smile. "You must be Mrs. Smith." He said while shaking my mother's hand.

"Yes I am. And this is my daughter, Emma Smith." She replied. She placed her left arms around my waist as she introduced me to him.

"Welcome to New Jersey City University! I'm Henry by the way. I'm Academic Chair of this institution. I heard you're going to enroll today and I already read your profile. I'm quiet impressed about your achievements though. You're a smart kid and I hope you'll do good in this university. Also, congratulations for passing the scholarship!" He said as he shake my hands.

"Oh thank you so much!" I replied, giving him a hug.

"You're welcome. I hate to leave but I still have some work to do. See you later and good luck for the enrollment." He smiled at us and went on his way.

"I'm going to the registrar. Do you want to come with me or do you want to stay here?" My mom asked.

"I'll come. I'm just gonna grab some coffee over there and I'll follow you afterwards." My fingers pointed at the coffee shop and she nod. After buying the coffee, I took a sip and went back to the building. Just when I was about to cross the road, a matte black Audi R8 sports car almost hit me. I stumbled on my feet and half of the coffee spilled on my coat.

"What the heck?" I look at my stained coat and went furiously near the driver. Oh my gosh. He's so hot. His brown hair looks so perfect and his navy blue tee fits perfectly on his body. 'Wake up, Emma. He almost hit you and he stained your favorite coat. You should stop daydreaming and be angry to him.' My subconscious is right.

"We're so sorry. We didn't mean to hurt you." The guy on his right look so worried as he apologizes. The guy sitting on the driver's seat just smirk. This jerk didn't even bother to say anything.

"He should be the one to apologize since he was the one who was driving." I groan, pointing at the guy on the driver's seat.

"Why should I? It's your fault anyway." He put on his sunglasses that looks perfectly on his eyes and drove away. Ugh. His rude remark is so irritating. It makes me want to punch his beautiful face. My phone vibrated. I tap down and it was mom calling me. I swipe the screen to the right to answer the call.

"Where are you?" She asked.

"I'm coming." I replied and went on my way.
