"What does the fox say..." I heard my phone sing loudly. I jumped and fell off my comfy chair with a loud 'Thud!'.
I picked the phone up quickly and placed it to my ear.
"Ye...Yes?" I asked.
"Hey, baby sis. You didn't eat the pizza that I bought you!"
"Jay, is that you?"
"Of course! Did you miss me? What are you up to these days? You seem to be hiding something from me... Isn't that true? I know you miss me, right? What is it... You better tell me... You know I'll do anything to help you. I love you, you know right?"
"You asked way too many questions at once... and yes, I love you too, Jayden."
"Are you gonna answer me one by one?"
"Nope! Haha..."
"Then..." Jay said challengingly.
"Ok, ok, don't do anything crazy..." I begged. "I will answer them in the future, I promise!"
"Okay. But you've gotta answer me someday."
"Yeah, yeah. My phone's going dead so I'm gonna cut so... Bye!"
I turned my phone off in a hurry and threw it by the bed.
"The cold one," I whispered to myself as I faced my MacBook again.
"Um... seems like you're doing pretty good, huh?" I heard someone say. His voice sounded familiar.
"What the fuck?" I asked as I turned around quickly. "Oh..."
"Surprise!!! Did you miss me?"
.
.
.
"So, why did you come?" I asked nervously, as I sat on my bed a stranger beside me. Yes, I was not kidding, a stranger.
"Oh~! Come on, can't you call me by my name~?"
"Okay, okay. Mr. Haze... Why did you come?" I asked as I brushed my silky long hair behind my left ear.
"No, no, no. Call me Haze. Cut out the mister. I sound way too old. After all, we are only 2 years different." He pouted. "Do you not remember a thing about your past?"
'What do you mean?' I asked. 'You know me also?'
'I'm not supposed to tell you, but I have to. Before you leave with Evans, I have to tell you." Haze said as he took off his "Hair"!
"Wait! I know I'm not supposed to be worrying about this right now, but you were wearing a wig this entire time?!!!" I blurted out without thinking. "You looked so good in those night blue ones!"
"I know, I look good." He winked teasingly. "But don't you look pretty also?"
"Nah, I don't really care about my looks," I said as I played my hair nervously with my finger. "I never do makeup or any of that stuff."
"Just like before."
Haze stood up from my bed, standing right in front of the window, the moon shining from behind him. His eye color was just like mine. Sky blue... His hair color... was also a darker shade of strawberry blond.
"So you had a wig on... And this morning, your eyes were black... it's because..."
"Yup, K. They have colored contact lenses."
"If I ask you a question, will you answer me?" I asked weakly and hesitantly.
"Yeah. Anything." Haze said as he gave me a tight hug with his left arm.
"Why do we look so familiar? And who is this Katerina? Why don't I remember anything? What is going on? I don't know what's going on at all!" I said as I shook my head wildly. Tears wailing up in my eyes.
"Come on. K... Don't cry... Please?" Haze said as he wiped my eyes slowly with his thumbs.
"I... I don't know. I don't know who I am, or what I am anymore!"
"Come on. Come on. Look at me." Haze said as he turned my face slowly to face him. "Here, I'll show you something."
Haze stood up straight and whispered some weird language to himself. Next, I saw his strawberry-blond long hair fly swiftly in the air. He tied it quickly into a high ponytail.
"Now, watch my hands." Haze said excitedly. He opened his right hand slowly with his palm facing up. His eyes turned scarlet red for a moment, and a small ball of fire began to form above his palm. Suddenly, something like a fire elf jumped out of the fireball. It stood up swaying with some sort of a struggle and stared at me curiously. It smiled!
"Aww~! You are so cute..." I squealed, itching to pat the cute little thing.
"It's a baby fire elf." Haze said. "She was born yesterday."
"You mean... Born from a mother elf?"
"Yeah, something like that. My power is fire. And because of that, I can summon out fire elves."
"Wow, can I touch it?"
"You can if you wear these gloves made by dragon scales."
"Wait, wait... Hold up. You just said, dragons?" I asked holding my hand to his face. I closed my eyes, and just thought about all that just happened. "Dragons are really?!"
"Of course... They are very scarce now...' Haze said as he held the gloves out for me to take. After seeing me all confused and hesitant, he laughed. "Come on, if I wanted to hurt you, I would have done a long time ago."
I glared at him and grabbed the gloves away from him. "I'm not scared of you." Then, from the corner of my eye, I saw the baby elf stumble off Haze's hand.
"She, she's gonna fall!" I half-shouted.
"Don't worry." Haze answered as he whispered some kind of weird language again. The gloves suddenly seemed to come to life! They flew up swiftly and caught the little cute thing.
"These gloves belong to you now, and they will do whatever you tell them to do." Haze said slowly and thoughtfully. "They will show you your deepest feelings, who you truly are. They may lead you to the truth or they may lead you to destruction. They may be a weapon to love and a weapon to hate."
"Wow...: I whispered to myself. "Can I name them?"
He chuckled softly and smiled. "Sure! Why not."
"Ok." I also smiled shyly. "Come here, Mia and Eli."
When I said, "Mia", the left glove flew over, and when I said, "Eli", the right glove flew over, and they fit my hands perfectly.
"This is amazing!" I exclaimed happily.
"I just did a little spell on it, and... Yah. It's kind of difficult to explain, but you'll catch on after you've regained your memories. Oh, I was gonna tell you, the day the gloves stop flying. It will mean that I'm dead. Got it?"
"What?" I asked, shocked at what he just said.
"Come on! Simple English. When the gloves are dead, I'm dead okay?"
"Okay..." I answered slowly. "But, how come your clothes, hair, and skin not burn, when you touch the elf?"
"You'll understand it in the future, eventually." Haze answered seriously. '"Now, now, K, I gotta go., but you take care of yourself and Tobias for me, ok?" He walked to my windowsill and got ready to jump out.
"You're leaving already?" I pouted. "You haven't answered all of my questions! You know what, just answer me this. Who are YOU to me?"
He stopped for a moment and turned around to face me.
"I'm your real brother.' Haze said with a deceitful smile and whispered something again in another language. He started to glow like diamonds and his eyes turned, even more, brighter blue. Then he, and the baby elf both turned into thin pieces of shiny yellow sand and disappeared.
Like a shooting star.
