Chereads / Katerina and Her Darkness / Chapter 11 - Chapter 11

Chapter 11 - Chapter 11

Vampires...

What are Vampires... Bloodthirsty monsters? Cold-blooded? Emotionless cruel demons...

What are Mates? Adam and Eve?

I looked deeper and deeper, scanning my eyes across everything. Everything that I found and everything that might lead to...

The truth!

Suddenly, something caught my eyes.

"The special ability of The Cold Blooded"

I clicked in, but then someone knocked on my door again. Good thing it was locked so the person that tried to come in, failed.

"Who is it?" I called out quietly like a mouse scared to be caught.

"It's me. Jay!" Jayden called from outside my room. "I ordered some pizza and I was wondering if you want some, and... I need to talk to you." His voice sounded deeper and louder than usual.

"Can it be later? I'm very busy!" I shouted angrily. Maybe I shouldn't have gotten angry, but I'm always like this to him, so it should be okay. "Why aren't you coming to school?!"

But... This time, he didn't just laugh it off...

"I said I need to talk to you!!!" Jay shouted loudly as he knocked on my door harshly, violently throwing the pizza box onto the floor. I think the door really started to crack, I heard the squeaks. "Just get the hell out, please!"

I froze. Jay never talked to me like that, who would talk to their sister like that? I mean, I am not his true sister. Maybe he already knows? Maybe it's time for me to face him.

I unlocked the door slowly, seeing Jay leaning on the right side of my door. The light wasn't on, everything was cold and dark. The pizza was all over the floor, the box was totally out of shape. I made sure I didn't let any emotion show.

"Sorry about the pizza... I'll order another one." He said apologetically.

"Forget about the pizza."

"Sorry about the door."

I turned around and looked at my door. It had a dint with the shape of someone's hand on it. Around it, everything was cracked. I felt scared, and my hands were shaking, but I didn't want to show my fear to him.

"Forget about the door."

"Sorry for yelling at you, I can't... I can't control my temper these days, or... anymore."

"Forget about the tempers. I don't care." The words came out before I was able to stop myself.

"What the hell is wrong with you, Beth! Sorry, I can't! It's just that everything is going wrong!"

"I told you. Forget about the tempers."

"Fine! Can you come downstairs?"

"Of course."

The whole entire conversation was cold. I had a blank face, I stared right into Jay's eyes. He kept trying to avoid eye contact, for sure something was troubling him, and I am sure that it had something to do with me.

Silently, I followed him downstairs.

"Katerina?" Jay said quietly as he walked toward the kitchen table.

Why does he know Katerina?

"What did you say?" I asked fakely pretending not to know what he was talking about, but he knew me better than that... The last person I could lie to and get by unnoticed would be Jay.

No answer.

I kept walking downstairs staring only at my feet.

"So what Arora said was true," Jay said quietly as he squeezed his fists tightly. I could see his veins popping up. "I can't believe this... Everything was a lie."

"What do you want, Jay?" Finally, I asked straightforwardly.

His head shot straight up. "What do I want?" Jay shouted as he slammed his fists on the table, his knuckles turning white. "You know what I want, I want an explanation on all of this vampire bullshit."

Jay stared at me sadly and waited for me to speak, but all I did was stare blankly at him. There was nothing I could say. I was sure, that he knew more about what was going on than I did, and I will dig it out of him.

"Please continue," I answered sarcastically.

Jay groaned loudly and continued. Like I asked.

"I just want my little sister to come back. Those people are just trying to deceive you! I think you already know! You are not dumb. I know it, for sure you know too... They are the cold-blooded monsters! Please, Beth. Don't go."

"You've changed," I answered quietly. "What happened to you? What did those two do to you? You know what, I won't say anything until you answer me."

"Fine. But you must not freak out."

"I've seen way worse."

"Fine!" Jay groaned. "I'll tell you."

Jay's POV: (A few days ago)

I woke up in the morning with Beth calling from downstairs.

I'm always late for school anyway... Today maybe I'll just catch a ride with Beth.

'Wait up...' When I was just about to answer, something like a man's hand covered my mouth. I struggled and tried shouting. Then, another person with thin long fingers grabbed for my legs. The two seemed to have superpower strength, they held me down with ease.

"Shhh... Don't worry, everything will be fine." I heard a lady say quietly.

"Bitch!" I tried shouting against the hand that was covering my mouth.

"I think we have to use The Cloth." The man said with a long sigh.

"Fine... I'm sorry we have to meet like this...But, don't worry, you'll just sleep for about 3 hours.' The lady whispered patiently, then kissing my forehead softly.

Fuck off!

When I woke up, I think it was about noon. I opened eyes slowly but closing quickly again, because of the bright lamplight above my head. Then, I wobbled to my feet and managed to stand up somehow. Everything around me was dark.

"You're finally awake." I heard someone say from behind me in the dark.

"Who are you?" I asked angrily and turned around. "You are going against the law, kidnapping kids!"

"Kidnapping kids?!!!" I heard the same man's voice from before say. "You are still in our house. Only in the basement. Just hope you aren't cold."

"Our house? Are you?" I asked as my face started to brighten up a little. I tried walking toward the voice and noticed that there were chains on my right foot.

"Yup. I am your Aunt Arora." The lady said as she walked out the dark shadows. She had the same hair and eye color as me. Then, Uncle Dan also walked over.

"Sorry about the chains, my dear. Just in case you tried to run, you know? Who knows what a young pup would do, haha..."

"Pup, what the fuck? Okay, whatever, why did you guys bring me here? Did you guys already meet Elizabeth? You didn't do the same to her too, did you?"

"Don't talk to me about that bitch." Arora snapped harshly.

"What did you just call her?" I asked instantly, totally not expecting her to say that. No one ever dared to talk about my sister like that, especially in front of me.

"Please don't blame her. There's a reason why she has this hatred feeling against Katerina." Uncle Dan said quietly after seeing the angry look on my face.

"Katerina?" I asked.

"I'll explain," Arora said as she motioned me to sit down beside her on the cold floor.

"I can." Uncle Dan said as he ran his fingers through the back of Arora's curly hair. "I don't want to see you cry again."

"I said, I will!" Arora said furiously as her eyes turned Golden and then turned back to normal.

"What just happened to your eyes?" I asked feeling shivers down my back. "Are you really Aunt Arora?" I started to look around me. There were more chains everywhere, and with only one big lamp above me. The floor had scratches and it looked old, worn.

"I'll make it simple," Arora said as she looked at me straight in the eyes.

I never forgot the words she told me that night.

"We are Werewolves. And Katerina is the cause of your parent's death!"
