"We're here," Alvera said as she opened one of the doors. I looked into the room, it was very stuffy and dark. I can smell that the room is very dusty and dirty. Also, I smelt blood!
Alvera turned the light switch on, and what I saw was... Unbelievable.
The room had bloodstains all over. It was like one of those rooms where the gangsters "take care of" of their "business". In the very corner of the room had a cage. Inside the cage, it seemed to have a beast... No, it was a human! The cage was also full of bloodstains. It was not funny at all. It made me want to throw up.
"What is all this?" I asked, covering my nose with my hands.
"Hey, bitch! We found the Queen. The White Witch." Alvera shouted to the lady or girl in the cage. In the beginning, the girl seemed to be ignoring Alvera, but at the word, "White Witch", she began to shake wildly, with fear. Slowly, she turned around. Her shiny eyes searched around until our eyes met. When our eyes met, she started screaming. Her scream was so heartbreaking that I felt something in me began to heat up...
Save her...
I heard those whispers again. It wasn't Flame nor Haze... It seemed different than usual. It was like my nightmare, where there were hundreds of whispers.
Next, everything happened too fast. I felt my mind go numb.
I lifted my right hand, I felt my hair float up and the air changing. A cold wind began to build up. The wind got faster and faster. I stared at the cage, wishing it to be destroyed. In a second the wind cut the cage in half.
Did I just control the wind? What am I even doing?
The girl in the cage was unharmed, but she was terrified, probably of me. I looked over to Alvera, she wasn't looking at me, nor anyone. She seems to be thinking about something.
Heal her...
I turned my head to face the girl again. She had bruises all over her. Her black hair was all tangled, her whole body was covered with cuts... I suddenly felt pain all over also. As if our body were linked. I felt my hair move around on top of my head. I looked up, and my hair had turned into branches and leaves. It grew at a rapid speed and charged toward the girl. The girl curled herself up in a ball, thinking that I was going to kill her or something.
Of course not! Why would I kill her?
My hair or the green branches circled around the girl gently. It turned into a big plant ball. After about 10 seconds, the ball became loose and it came flying back. I looked at my hair again. It was back to normal.
I looked at the girl and she was no longer full of sore and bruises. Her hair was nicely tied into a high bun by the branches, her wounds were all healed, she looked as if she was born again.
"Your... your majesty." The girl murmured quietly and bowed with her face to the ground. "Welcome back."
Her hands were still shaking, and she did not move at all. She just stayed there, with her face stuck to the dirty floor. Somehow, I felt a wave of authority overcome me. Somehow, deep down inside, I just... I just knew that I had authority over this poor girl in front of me.
"What's your name?" I asked in a haughty tone. I have never talked to someone like this before.
"My name is Irina. I... I was among one of those who erased your memories... I, I am very... Sorry... I.. " Irina answered, as she started crying with hands covering her face. "I do not deserve your mercy... I..."
"Enough!" I shouted, as my head started to hurt. I felt angry. Not because she was among those that took me away from Tobias. It was because... I felt betrayed.
"You, look at me," I commanded.
She didn't at first, so I said again. "Irina."
Then she slowly raised her head. Locking her eyes with mine.
"You're forgiven, okay? I will not kill you."
The girl didn't move at first. I think she couldn't believe what she heard from me.
"Interesting." Alvera finally stated. "Your powers are coming back... But your memories... Are still... Lost. The old Katerina would have killed you the moment she sees you."
Alvera gave me one last look and left the room, leaving me with Irina.
.
.
.
Irina and I chatted a little bit after Alvera was gone. She was still scared of me and didn't say much, but I was determined that one of these days I shall dig some pieces of information out of her.
"Someone's coming in high speed! Your majesty, please hide!" I was pushed toward the wall by Irina's unbelievable strong strength.
"Bang!" My back hit the wall hard. I felt like screaming in pain, but I didn't. Seeing how serious Irina's face was, I knew that whatever coming to this direction was very dangerous.
The door swung open. Revealing one man. Tobias.
Something about him was weird. His eyes weren't blue but pure black. I can see black clouds circling around him. The whole feeling about it wasn't right! He searched the room quickly, looking for something, probably for me. Just before he was about to see me, his eyes stopped at Irina.
"Bitch! How did you get out of your damn cage, huh?" He asked.
"My queen saved me," Irina answered, looking at him straight in the eyes.
"Where is she! Where did you hide her!" He shouted again, and his eyes searched the room again, and finally, he saw me, leaning against the wall. I tried to stand up, but my back hurt too bad.
In a "whoosh", he was beside me, he examined me hastily at such a fast speed, that I wasn't even able to react.
"Hey, I'm ok. I just hit my back, that's all. Irina was trying to help." I tried to say, but obviously, he didn't hear me. He didn't even try to hear what I was trying to say. When his finger touched the bruise on my back, I winced in pain. He stopped, and slowly turned his head toward Irina.
He was literally acting like an... animal. He growled deeply, and the air in the room seemed to have changed. It was like that time when a stranger sneaked into my room at night. The night that I had to jump out from my attic window.
I couldn't breathe. The whole air felt heavy.
"How dare you hurt our mate." I heard Tobias say as he walked slowly toward Irina. There were shadows circling around him... No, they weren't shadows, they seemed to be demons in shadow form. The demons grabbed onto Tobias' body, and they seemed to be weighing him down.
"Now, now. What should I do for you? Little Vampire Witch..." Tobias and the Demons seemed to say at the same time.
She's a Vampire? Did she get... Turned?
I need to do something to stop him...
He will never hurt you...
Again, I heard a whisper in my head. It was not Flame, not Haze, not those noisy whispers from my dream. It was the whisper of a little girl.
You know what to do!
This time, it was no longer a whisper. It was more of a command, and I was able to hear it loud and clear in my head.
Slowly and carefully I stood up. I bit hard on my lips to ignore the pain in my back. As fast as I could, I walked toward Tobias.
"Tobias," I called. "Can you hear me?"
"Tobias!" I called again.
"Stay away." I heard Tobias and the demons answer.
"Stop," I begged.
"Katerina..."
"Please!" I finally said and hugged Tobias tightly from the back.
Then, it was as if time had stopped.
