Chereads / Katerina and Her Darkness / Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

"We fight, we get high, holding onto love, we came down cause there was nothing holding us..."

"Morning already?" I groaned to myself and turned off my alarm clock.

Yes, I love Niall Horan. I love his music, his lyrics, his personality, his everything. I love Harry Styles too, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik! Yep, you're right, I'm obsessed with One Direction.

Last night was crazy, I couldn't sleep, because...

Well, you know right?

Finally, I got out of bed and decided to put all of this drama behind me to deal with later. I brushed my teeth, combed my hair, and sprayed a little bit of perfume. I got dressed into some skinny jeans and a baggy hoodie, and walked downstairs to Jay's room and called, "Hey, Jay. Time to go to school."

As always no answer.

"Forget it," I whispered to myself.

I walked down to the front floor, grabbed my envelope of money for this month, and car key. Just when I was about to open the outside door...

"Uh... Are you Elizabeth... I mean... Hello, Elizabeth?" I heard a lady call me from behind.

"Yeah?" I answered quickly and frowning as I turned around. "Hello, Aunt Arora? You look beautiful as ever."

When I said "beautiful", I meant it, because Aunt Arora was gorgeous, and used to be a model. She had the same eye and hair color as Jayden, they look very similar. Jayden was always Aunt Arora and Uncle Dan's favorite, while I... Well, they never liked me. I knew that very well from before. For what reason? I have no clue.

"Anyways... Shut up with the flattering. I mean. I'm sorry. I don't know what I'm saying... I, I am your Aunt Arora, as you already know." I could tell that she was feeling very uncomfortable talking to me.

"Yea... So nice to see you again. You got back from your business trip?" I asked, also feeling extremely uneasy.

"Yes." I heard another man's voice from behind her. "And I am your Uncle Dan. Nice to meet you."

Uncle Dan had a beautiful smile, with eyes like Jay and Arora's. Hair color's also like theirs. They do look related.

Maybe I really am not from this family.

"Um... Is something wrong, Elizabeth?" Aunt. Aurora asked not even looking at me.

"No, no, no. Nothing. I daydream a lot, with weird dreams... And all those stuff. Yeah, I know it's weird. I... I have to go to school now. Bye!" I said quickly as ran toward the door. When I have already walked out of the house, ready to close the door, Uncle Dan called out sternly.

"If anyone asks why Jay hasn't been going to school, tell them to see me and I'll take care of it. Also, Jay will not go to school today either." He stopped for a moment and continued. "I wish you will stay away from the Evans."

"What?!!! Jay has been skipping school?" I asked abruptly without meaning to. Jay and I don't have much class together, so I didn't even realize that he was...

I'm the worst twin ever. If I am a twin at all.

"But why do I have to stay away from Tobias and them? They are really nice to me." I asked, feeling angry about the fact that they are trying to interfere with my personal life.

When I mentioned the fact that the boys were nice to me, Aunt Arora laughed coldly to myself and walked away.

"You'll know why." Uncle Dan answered.

"What?!"

"Ask Jayden tonight. I think you already know that you're not from this family."

"What!! What the heck do you mean?!"

" Don't you have school?"

"Fine!" I slammed the door.

I reached school easily, but I wasn't concentrating on how smoothly I was driving but asking myself ONE question.

Why can't I have one normal day like a regular girl?

I walked to my classroom, sat in my usual seat: second to the last roll by the window. I opened my black backpack and got out my math books and pencil case, then I put my backpack on the empty seat beside me. When the school bell rang, the teacher that walked was not Miss Grant, but a guy called Mr. Burstern. According to him, Miss Grant was fired because she was caught kissing or dating one of the students. When I heard it, I didn't even know what to say.

Our new math teacher seemed to be a very grouchy person. So I guess I would always have to start with a grouchy person. From the student sitting behind me, I was told that there were rumors that he never smiled again after the death of his wife and daughter. Another rumor was that he hated girls.

"Today we will be having a new student."Mr. Bustern said grouchily at us. Somehow his eyes and mine met. I smiled but just glared at me.

Ok... What a bad start...

"Hello everyone. My name is Haze."

Wait? What? Haze?!!!!

"You?" I asked out loud without thinking and stood up! Then, I felt everyone and the teacher's stares. My face started to heat up...

"I mean... No, no... I don't know him. Why would I know him? Haha..." I laughed awkwardly and sat back down.

"Well, if you guys know each other so well... Ben, stop sleeping! Now, Haze? Please go sit over there. The empty seat." Mr. Bustern said tiredly. "You may sit by that girl... What was her name again? Yes, Elizabeth. Now, shoo, shoo. We need to start with our Math!"

"Hey, Elizabeth. Nice to meet you." Haze whispered happily. "Do you mind moving your bag, so I may sit?"

"No!"

"Elizabeth, stop flirting!" Mr. Grant shouted angrily.

"I..." I tried to protest, but the moment I saw Mr. Grant's glares I backed down.

I moved my bag roughed, and threw it on the floor beside me. "Well, isn't it so nice to meet you too!" I whispered back to Haze loudly with sarcasm.

"Elizabeth, no matter how much you like your new friend, please concentrate on our lesson." The teacher shouted again, at me.

"Yes, Mr. Bustern," I answered quietly, feeling my face heat up again.

After class, I walked quickly straight to my locker. Got my stuff, and headed to my next class without hesitation. I didn't know how to face this NEW STUDENT... I mean, he said he's my real brother, and my three annoying guardian angels were not here today. Plus, why was Jay not coming to school? I don't know what to do anymore.

Maybe I should apologize to Crystal and Westin. Nah, forget it. I don't want to drag them into this also.

As soon as I reached my next class, I searched for an empty seat. That was when my eyes landed on Westin. We should be having a second class together. He was sleeping with his arms folded together on the desk, and a book on his head. Many girls were crowding around him, taking pictures, and giggling.

Do you call that illegal?

I hesitated on choosing my seat for this class because there were only 3 empty seats. One beside a boy in ripped jeans and tattoos, one beside a sickly looking pale girl who slobbers, and lastly, one seat beside Westin.

In the end, I made up my mind to sit by Westin. I will apologize to him, and everything should go back to normal. Maybe he will never forgive me, but at least, we could end this friendship in the RIGHT way.

I walked over. Pushed the girls aside and put my bag right there.

"Hey, Westin! It's me." I said quietly and coughed. That was when the bell rang again.
