"I'm sorry, Yuna. It's been a week. How are you?" I asked.
"I'm fine. How about you? Where have you been?" She replied.
"I just traveled to Sapporo. Stayed for a week, because my old man is sick."
Her eyes narrowed, "Old man? Your Father?"
"Um... Grandfather actually."
"Oh, sorry. Haha."
"It's fine. So, how's everything here?"
"Everything is pretty much the same. We are actually preparing for the Christmas. would you like to help?"
"Sure!"
"By the way, Ryu?"
"Yes?"
"Do you even have a cellphone?" She smiled as she asks that.
I on the other hand, gulped, "I had, but I left it somewhere in Sapporo. I think..."
"Hmm... Is that so?" Her tone suddenly sounds dubious, "--Ryu... Why you said a lot to my father about yourself, yet you don't say anything to me?"
I gasped, "What do yo-"
"About your work. I don't even know if you're lying right now, or is it true about the Sapporo and to what happened to your cellphone?" She immediately interrupts.
I stood quietly for a moment, because I was shocked and speechless.
She sighed, "You know... I'm understanding and all, but if you're gonna lie right in front of me? Then don't ever talk to me again..."
She's upset! I thought she's ok and happy because she smiles a lot, but here I now knew that behind a beautiful smile, is an angry self.
But wait. Is she mad? Is she sad? I just couldn't understand this yet, but I'll try my best to learn and fix it.
She then left the table and head upstairs, leaving me alone and speechless, 'What have I done?'
I felt heartbroken, but why would I be heartbroken? Isn't she the one who's heartbroken? I was the one who didn't tell her the truth...
I can't tell her the real truth, but I can tell her the existing truth that her father knows.
After a while, I approached her father and ordered an espresso.
"You know... I thought you left her right after you dated her..." Her father says.
My eyebrows furrowed, "What? Why would I do such thing? I loved her like I said to you."
"Perhaps you shouldn't tell that to me."
"I... I know... I just need time to tell her that..."
He sighed, "She literally learned everything about you from me. You two seriously need to talk without me."
"I don't want her to worry about me, that's all."
He sighed again, "You're still young..." Then, he smiled.
My eyebrows began to furrow again, "What do you mean by that?"
"You know... In a relationship, it's normal for couples to worry with each other. If you only worry for her and she doesn't, I don't think it's called a relationship."
I was lost in thought, 'Is that how it is? How stupid of me. How selfish of me. I should've thought of her feelings as well, not just mine."
"I'm sorry..." I bowed down to her father.
"Why are you saying sorry to me? Say sorry to her."
"I, um... Can I go upstairs?"
"Sure, just knock first."
"Thank you..." I bowed down again.
I then head to her room upstairs. I knocked three times and called her name, "Yuna?"
She didn't answer, so I began to worry, 'What if she doesn't forgive me? What if she starts ignoring me?'
So, I knocked three times again and called her name once more, "Yuna?"
I waited and waited, but she never open it. I felt sorry for not even leaving her a message before I left. Ugh. This was all due to my stupid dilemma. If it didn't happen, I'm sure we would still be fine. However, I believe she was just behind the door. Because I could sense a body leaning on it.
I then put my palm on the door as if I'm touching her indirectly, "I'm sorry..." I then lean myself at the door, "--I'll wait here 'till the shop closes. I won't leave 'till you forgive me..."
After a while, after leaning on the door, I then heard her reply, "Go home... You are tired. Right?"
I shook my head, "I won't leave 'till I see you."
"You already did, so go home. Ok?"
"Not until I wiped your tears..."
I heard her sniffle, "Tears? What are you talking about? I don't have tears to wipe..."
I chuckled, "Yuna?"
"What?"
"You can't lie to me right now. I'm just right behind you. I can literally hear you crying."
"I said I'm not!" She shouted.
But, I replied calmly, "Yuna..?"
"Ugh. Ok, ok. You got me, but I can wipe my own tears. Ok?"
"I'm still not leaving, I know you're still mad at me."
She sighed. She then slowly opened the door, "I won't be mad anymore if you lea-"
I quickly hugged her tight as soon as the door opened.
Her eyes grew widely in surprise, "R-Ryu?"
"You have no idea how much I miss you..."
She then started to cry as I hug her tight, "You stupid... Do you even know how much I thought you ghosted me? You stupid..."
"Ghost? What's that? Never mind that. I'm here, aren't I?"
"Tell me the truth... Where have you really been?" She asked sobbingly.
"Why would I lie to you? I just said Sapporo and I don't think of anything else other than that."
"Is that so? What about your grandfather? Is it true as well?"
"He's not... But I met an old man in the street of Sapporo, begging for help, so I helped him and brought him to my apartment there."
She was shocked, "What? Really? How is he now?"
"He's ok now. I left him in the apartment with a money to help himself."
"Is he a beggar?"
"Yes."
She then starts producing tears from her eyes once more, "Ryu... I didn't know you're such a good man... That old man is lucky to have met you."
I scratched my head and looked away shyly, "I... I guess he is..."
"So what's really the reason why you're at Sapporo?"
"I have a mission there, a task that was given..."
"What task?"
"I can't tell... Everything is top secret..."
She then smiled and hugged me tightly, "You stupid... Just what kind of job you're into, huh?"
"Top secret." I then smiled right at her and she smiles back.
"No matter how top secret it is, I promise I'll comeback again. Pinky promise?" I then offered my pinky to her.
She was surprised, but she then locked her pinky with me and smiled, "Pinky promise."
"Can I still help for the Christmas preparation?" I ask.
She giggled, "You stupid... Of course you can..."
I closed my eyes and hugged her tightly, "Thank you.."
She smiled, closed her eyes, and tightly hugs me back.
I smiled back, while also lost in thought, 'Yuna... I swear... I swear I will not leave you again... I promise...'
