Chapter 39 - Katie

Katie stands outside the front door. It's around four in the afternoon and she has a simple plan- befriend them, go somewhere with Ava, then kill Ava. After that, she disappears back into the Savannah for the rest of her life. A lot of things complicated her plan. One, since when did sixteen-year-olds have a baby? She was a little sucker for all things cute, but she has to learn to deal with it. Two, Ava is sixteen! she assumed the chosen one would be at least eighteen. And three, she is in her forties. Her joints won't be able to move around that heavily. The potion she bought only helps with her looks, it won't actually make her body go back in time. Besides all that, she decides to carry it out anyway. I mean, she did promise her dad.

Katie knocks. She hears crying, burping, then a shuffle of feet approaching the door. A tall guy with a lean expression opens the door. He starts to blush so much, he turns into a tomato. 'What an odd guy.' "Uhm... Hi. Did you want to come in?" "Yes. Thank you." Katie thinks to herself, 'How stupid must this guy be?' The guy leads her to the table and asks, "Did you need my parents or-" "Yes please." The guy yells at his parents, and they say they need a minute. "So what's your name?" "Katie." "How old are you?" "Uhm. 20." "Oh, cool." "What's your name?" "Blake." "Nice.. How old are you?" "20." "Sweet..." There was silence. Blake looks her in the eye and Katie struggles to return it. He had this dominating aura around him that makes Katie want to whimper. She's able to look him in the eye, and she regrets it. It's like time stopped. They just stare at each other. Blake clears his throat and Katie looks away. "So are you around here?" "Uhm.. that's what I came for. My mom and dad died, so I need a place to stay. I saw this place in the area and decided to ask if I could stay here." "Oh my god.. Okay, I'll go ask them." Blake goes up the stairs. Katies gets up and walks to the kitchen, admiring the little photo frame of their family. "Won't be so perfect when I'm done here."

Blake comes back, saying his mom agreed. He grabs her bags and leads her to Ava's room. To Blake, Katie looked like a goddess. When she walked into the house, he simped. Bad. She has long brunette hair with blonde highlights. Her small face had porcelain skin, free of blemish. Her eyebrows were shaped perfectly, in a rose brown colour. Her eyes were a rose gold shade with speckles of light. She just seemed to have an amazing personality. "You'll have to stay here with Ava, but we set up an extra bed for you." "That's fine, thanks." Blake stopped for a moment and kissed her cheek. "Uhm... Sorry I just-" "It's fine."

To be honest, Katie kinda likes him. He's simple enough, and he knows how to get what he wants. She has to keep reminding herself that she isn't actually that young, and Blake is technically her first cousin once removed. Katie walks into Ava's room, and she sees her sitting on the edge of the bed. She holds a baby boy, and she looks exhausted. Ava gives a simple nod, and Katie returns it. 'Wow, pregnancy treated her well. Her big belly is gone, and she looks healthier than ever,' Katie thinks. Katie sits her stuff on the spare bed, and she walks over to Ava. "Can I hold him?" "Sure!" Ava passes the baby gently to Katie, and Katie looks down into the boy's eyes. "What's his name?" "Noah Oliver. I'm still figuring out the middle name." "Oh cool!" Katie rubs his nose softly, making Noah Oliver smile. She hands Noah Oliver back to Ava, remembering not to be distracted. She goes to lay down on her bed, rethinking her plan.
