Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Back Home

Rachel Page, she is the fifth daughter of her family. Although she grew up in a poor household, she was happy nonetheless. That was until she found out about her special ability, all hell broke loose after she told her family about her secret on her tenth birthday.

Rachel walked towards the Giant Porcupine as an overbearing aura engulfed her entire being, if she had not stopped at her current placement then who knows what would've happened to her. She would most probably be minced meat amongst the puddle of blood.

"Hello there Mr. Porcupine!"Rachel greeted.

The giant rodent noticed the young woman who was no different than a tiny speck of dot in its point of view. It was bewildered as to how the tiny human girl's voice rang louder than the seagulls near the sea.

Interested, the porcupine leaned down to get a closer look of the woman as it's two red dots for eyes locked with Rachel's tiny black ones.

"Human, you seem to have the ability to converse with creatures. Is this what those stinking old men call as Magic?" Asked the giant creature.

"N-no, but it's similar" answered Rachel hesitantly.

"Ho? Interesting! Then do you know a young man with peculiar hair? His terrible magic has awoken my slumber!" Exclaimed the giant.

A young man with peculiar hair? Rachel pondered for a while before realizing that the giant porcupine was talking about none other than her friend, Daniel. Who else could've had a hair that looked like he came out from an Anime show? That boy uses a ton of hair spray.

"N-no! However, if I do know someone like that? What're you gonna do to them?" Replied Rachel.

"Is that so? Well, I'm not going to harm him, I just want to warn him. As the terrible magic that awoken me is very similar to an ancient curse that once inflicted a mortal friend of mine" Stated the giant porcupine.

"Oh" Rachel replied in a half relief and half worried tone.

"And maybe I'll give him a few hits for waking me up" continued the giant creature as it gave a stomp as an example, making the earth quiver in fear.

"Oh!" Rachel replied, however this time it was similar to an 'oh shit' tone.

"Well, I'm sorry for not being able to help you but I'll make sure to keep an eye. I'll contact our leaders to provide you with the best comfort in compensation for disturbing you. So I would like to kindly ask you to go back please." politely replied Rachel as she bowed her head in front of the porcupine.

"Alright, I will" replied the giant porcupine.

Meanwhile...

Mr. Renay, who had felt the tremor and heard the shouts of the porcupine, was immediately dispatched by the principal to fetch the young students who were out on missions near the Death Forest.

Upon his arrival, he witnessed as the 'giant' problem has been resolved. Taking into account that there was still one special group that were yet to be seen, Renay went deeper into the forest. There, he found two of his students injured together with a bunch of rambunctious kids. Just thinking about all the report he had to write after this, it was a headache for the teacher!

However, seeing as how the situation was in such a dire state, he was just relieved that the children were safe. But he can't speak the same for the trauma that they may have suffered, those kids must have been horrified!

"See, I told you Laurens would arrive first" Exclaimed Catherine joyously.

Scratch that, these kids knows no fear, they have been trained that way by the Academy. Renay was glad that his hard work from teaching was paying off... at least.

"Kids, it's time to go back"

Renay appeared behind the group silently as if he was a professional trained assassin. Upon his sudden appearance, the children instinctively went on guard and took a a few steps back, except for Laurens who had no previous training or experience in combat.

Laurens ended up falling due to Rain who was injured and couldn't walk. His small stature couldn't support Rain's body mass resulting in the two kissing the blood stained grass.

Enraged and in pain, Rain yelled out. "It's just Mr. Renay you assholes! You're all being dramatic!"

"Hey guys! I brought good news!"

Rachel walked in amidst the chaos of Rain yelling to the others, Laurens trying get Rain off of him just to get a miniscule amount of air and Mr. Renay laughing! But the thing that bewildered her the most was that Jace was setting free a weird a** looking chicken? pigeon? It was some sort of feathered fiend.

"What did I miss?" Rachel awkwardly asked.

On their way back, the teachers safely guided the children back to campus and with time to spare before sun set. Laurens and his group rejoiced as the thought of their comfortable beds awaited them in their houses. However, those thoughts were short lived... instead of having a time for relaxation, Jonathan appeared with their contract on hand suggesting that the dismantling of the plant's carcasses were part of the whole deal.

According to him, "A mission is a mission, you must go through the end after starting"

They had to dismantle thirty three dead bodies and ended up going home late. Their tired bodies staggered to make their way to Laurens' house, almost like lifeless zombies.

"Look, if you guys like my house so much, why don't you just move in?"

As Laurens' house door creaked open, one by one the kids stepped inside ignoring Laurens and his question. The boy sighed helplessly as he entered and closed the door.

"So?" Laurens persisted.

"Nah" answered the group.

"Except for Jace, we're pretty content at our current placement. We treat your house as a headquarter of sorts" Catherine explained.

Laurens pouted as he raised a brow with skeptical eyes, then he turned his sights to a certain someone sitting on the floor. It seemed that they had a new addition to the group.

Her previous bashful demeanor completely vanished, her black labcoat was hanged on the nearby coat rack along with her thick black googles. Laurens looked at her in disbelief, he already had his hands full with the others and now he had another one joining the group, a mad scientist nonetheless.

Milliania looked at Laurens awkwardly and said, "What?"
