Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Farewell! and Hello?

Another day another slay, in this case, literally!

Daniel, with his rainbow locks, smoldered on top of a hill of monster corpses. As punishment for being the number one delinquent in a school of high-end delinquents, it was only natural that he was tasked to slay 50 earth rabbits. Despite their small sizes, earth rabbits are mutated beasts that do not have a heart and as if searching to fill in the void inside their chest, they mate nonstop and destroy everything in their path as a horde... Or at least that was the plan until Daniel destroyed their entire colony.

"Man, I miss Rain. His ugliness made me feel better about myself" Complained the rainbow furball.

"I'm right here!" yelled Rain in the back.

"Ugh! I can almost hear him with his soulless voice" Ignoring Rain, Daniel expressed his sarcasm.

Rain ignored the tortured soul and left for the campus. It was there that he met the "outlaws". They were standing by the gate, together with the Principal, Jace, and some weirdo. Although he hid from afar, he could see that the usual unrestrained Principal was being respectful to the guests. He was even bidding them goodbye as their armored trucks drove away to the landing zone.

Sheepishly, he walked towards the gate with a bag full of earth rabbit teeth.

"Yo, Rain! Did you finish your community service?" Jace mocked.

"Wow, that was sooo funny, Jace. I almost died laughing, ha. ha. ha!" His monotonous voice said otherwise.

"You're in such a mood, did you and Daniel fight or something?" someone else questioned.

"Who are you, stranger? I've never seen you in my life" Rain genuinely said out of curiosity for this stranger in front of him with different colored eyes.

Aside from the Principal, Jace, and Daniel, nobody has ever seen Laurens' current appearance before. With his parted bangs and hair combed back for a tidy impression, he looked like someone who should be singing on a stage and beloved by girls all over the world right now.

"And I thought Daniel was the only idiot" Laurens rolled his eyes and walked away, probably going back home.

"If you genuinely don't know, that–my friend– is Mr. Alchemist"

"LAURENS?!"

Dumbfounded, Rain was left to rot at the gate. His face remained unmoving, but his brain was using all its brain cells to process the information he heard. He was too frozen to move and Jace did not even try to drag the man back to the campus. Jace left to follow Laurens and Rain... Well, let's just say that Daniel saved his ass that day.

A week later, Saturday.

A rumor started to spread, a rumor about P.A.I.N. Some said it was a myth, and some say it was a stupid idea spread by a stupid idiot. However, no one seemed to know what it meant. What is PAIN? Was it the feeling that we experienced physically or was it an abbreviation because it was written in all caps? One thing's for sure, the flier that was posted on the bulletin board was lacking important information. Well, unbeknownst to the freshmen students of Hazard, PAIN goes a little something like this...

Partial Alliance of International Networks (PAIN) is an activity to slowly introduce mutants into the real world by having human children with open minds meet the children of mutants so that they can slowly adjust to the human-made society. By doing so, when mutants are reformed and their tendency to be impulsive has died down by the end of their course in Hazard Academy, they will be able to interact with humans without a hitch... Or, at least that was the main purpose.

"I want to beat that damn asshole so bad, I'm willing to make a deal with the devil"

Jonathan looked frustrated, he was biting his nails and doing his paperwork at a fast pace. He was restless, so much so, that even an oblivious bastard like Daniel could feel it. This leads to another topic.

Jace, Daniel, Laurens, Rain, Rachel, and Veronica were all suddenly summoned by Jonathan. They were instructed to bring an empty bag with them and some cash for a fun "surprise".

Jonathan signed the last paper on his table and threw away the pen in his hand. His face turned into a cunning smile and a monstrously loud laugh echoed throughout the school. Everyone covered their ears or else their eardrums might explode.

"Children! I'm so glad you could make it! Now, this may sound abrupt, but you will be sent abroad for a month to learn a higher rank of education in a school full of bastards and their gremlin headmaster"

Unfortunately, nobody heard what he said so they just looked at him with confusion written all over their faces. The light surrounding them was also not helping as it was blocking their view of the Principal much to their inconvenience.

"WHAT?!" Daniel screamed in an attempt to hear better.

"WHY IS EVERYTHING SO BRIGHT? AM I DEAD?!" Daniel continued to scream.

That was Jonathan's cue to realize that the children did not hear a word he said. So before they were fully engulfed in the light, Jonathan snapped his fingers and returned their sense of hearing.

"Don't worry, you're just gonna go on a short trip to Eden! I placed everything in your bags, AND LAURENS IS IN CHARGE!" Those were Jonathan's last words before the children disappeared from his office.

Although, it was not apparent before due to the scattered papers in Jonathan's office, but the floor where the children stood moments ago was a giant magic circle. Drawn by the greatest Alchemist in the olden times, it was a gate, or as people call it– a portal, that could connect two locations by bending space for quick and easy travel.

As mentioned before, planes barely traveled toward Hazard Academy. This was due to the dangerous weather conditions among other inhumanely treacherous things that they encounter when landing the plane on that island. Thus, this was the easiest way to travel with little to no side effects. Sure, their bodies could've been ripped apart during the space-bending phase or their brains would have exploded due to the pressure but! That did not happen, so no sweat.

Jonathan sat back down on his chair, relieved. Until a knock on the door turned him paler than a sheet of paper.

"Hey, Dad? I heard you wanted to see me. My phone died in the middle of class, so..."

"Oh, shit..."
