Barbara's surgery date had finally been set and was now less than a week away, and the tension, though unspoken was evident in the air despite how hard everyone kept trying to act nonchalant, so it wouldn't seem like a big deal. But it was. It was a huge deal, and Scarlett was scared.
She and Kelly had taken turns through the week to head back to the resort to freshen up, maybe do some work and whatever else needed to be done, and then get food on the way back. Although Scarlett was mostly in charge of getting food.
She didn't want to leave her mother alone by herself at any time whatsoever, so the only time she and Kelly ever left the hospital together was when Barbara was asleep and even then, they were never gone for too long. And today she was not asleep, so Scarlett left her with Kelly to head back to the resort for a shower, check in with Darren and then grab some dinner on the way back.
