"Mom, we're heading back to the resort to take a shower and grab a change of clothes, and maybe get some lunch before heading back. We'll be right back, okay?" Scarlett spoke, car keys and her phone in hand with Kelly behind her, looking lost and dreamy. She had just awoken from sleep.
"Aw! can't I come get breakfast with y'all?" Barbara whined and Scarlett rolled her eyes playfully, a small smile on her lips.
"You know the hospital won't allow that. You can't have any outside food as long as you're here. And that's why I need you to get better quick so you can eat all the delicious food in the world. Hmn?"
Barbara's expression turned solemn at Scarlett's words, a deep ache stinging in her heart as she nodded with a sad smile on her lips. "Promise."
Scarlett hugged her tight, feeling awkward but liking the warmth that spread through her body, and then she let go and began making her way towards the door.
