"Well no one except maybe your mom," Jean thought out loud and Scarlett laughed, shaking her head at his brazenness.
"You have no idea how much I've missed that laugh." His eyes warm, he clasped Scarlett's fingers with his and she gave him a smile.
Staring into his eyes filled with so much love and admiration for her at that moment, it felt like nothing could ever go wrong. All of her heartache and pain felt like distant memories as he rubbed calming circles inside her palm, his dark eyes sucking her in even deeper than she already was.
"My brother is getting married!"
Kelly suddenly appeared again, startling both Jean and Scarlett as they looked up at her.
"That's amazing news!" Scarlett smiled, genuinely happy to hear that Kelly's brother, whom she always talked about was finally getting married.
