Scarlett almost broke down in tears at the doctor's words as she staggered a few steps back from him.
"Are you okay?" Dr. Aldo reached out a hand to steady her and Jean is already by her side in half a second, putting an arm around her waist to hold her up.
"Can I go see her yet?" She proceeded to ask, breath shaky as she stared at the doctor with hopeful eyes.
"Yes, sure. Once she's been moved to the ICU, you can go see her. But the nurses won't let more than one person in at once for safety reasons." The doctor explained, looking at Jean.
"Alright. Thank you so much."
Dr. Aldo nodded, an understanding smile on his lips. "We'll need to have discussion before we can proceed with chemo as planned, but I'll leave you to it for now. You look like you haven't slept all night and clearly, I need some sleep too." He laughed and Scarlett managed a smile in return. He did look like shit and she probably looked even worse.
