Back inside the hotel suite, Scarlett wiped her tears, grabbed all the things she needed and then headed for the hospital after sending Kelly a text to let her know that she was on her way already.
There was no point lingering in the past. She didn't have time for all this drama. She had a sick mother to look after and a company to run. There was no room for past high-school exes in the midst of all that.
That was what she told herself as she drove through the streets, the windows let down with the cold evening breeze brushing its fingers through her hair.
