Chapter 4 - 4: The Last Vanilla.

When I got to school people began shooting daggers at me and the guys quickly ran up to me. " There are new guys now." They said simultaneously.

"Did you practice that?" I asked pointing at them accusingly. I was surprised when they actually nodded and I laughed. And immediately felt out of place because everyone was quiet when the school doors opened and I didn't realize because I was laughing at the guys blushing. So adorably embarrassing.

"What's so funny?" my laughing stopped immediately and turned around with a nervous smile. He was really here. With another guy on the side. Alex Grey was one nice looking piece of candy. So was the guy next to him and they both had amused expressions. I could hear dynamite playing in the background.

" He, heh... um?" I said quiet humiliated. "Hi ... I'm Sally Cane... you are?" I whispered because I didn't want people to over hear us.

Luckily he followed along, " I'm Alexandra Grey. That's Xavier Woods." I looked over at the guy next to him and was shocked to see the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen. They were I stretched out my hand and smiled. He smirked back and he flipped his hair which was blond but slowly turned brown going to the ends.

"You wanna hang out later?" he whispered so no one heard. I felt everyone looking at us wondering what He was saying. And I nodded. Why was everyone suddenly hanging out with me?

People began grimacing at our close proximity. I pulled away and waved walking to my locker just needing to be alone for a bit. When I opened my locker it was immediately closed causing me to jump back in surprise.

I looked up and saw a girl popping gum looking like a clown with all the make up on her face. " Listen here rookie," rookie? " You aren't special okay? Those guys are just surrounding you because you are practically the last vanilla standing. No gives a cool about you so don't think you're better than everyone else."

"I'm not a vanilla," I said. Lies!

"That doesn't change anything. If you know what's good for you you're going to stay away from them especially... all of them! I may not know who you are or what your frickin' name is but I know I will find and hurt you if you do and I always get what I want." She spit out the gum and stuck it onto my locker glared at me and strutted away. It looked like she just got a new hip replacement.

I sighed and took my books for Accounts only to realize it was Athletics not Accounts. I dumped my books and grabbed my kit bag and began racing down the hallway and stopped at the door and opening the door. I absolutely love Athletics since I find it easy because of my training.

I changed out of my jersey and jeans and into the school shirt and shorts. I ran out into the field and stood in line with all the other people and the girl next to me moved away. Ouch.

I shook it off and payed attention to the coach. " Right! All you little sissies can go ahead and run 14 laps. No breaks no tying your shoe laces. Gabriel! No tying your shoe laces okay? You want to tie them do it now. Last one running gets detention and summer school. First 5 you're safe. But the rest of you will have to keep running till I get tired and no I'm not going to run. Maybe I'll be getting tired of sitting or something. And the last one will also have to run with the rest. Now go!"

I took off not paying attention to everyone else's groans. This practically like training, but it was actually easier. I was listening to songs in my head because music is life. All I could pay attention to was moving my feet. Everyone was behind me. Like far behind. Bad guy was playing in my head. Even when I got hit by a side stitch I just ran faster because I've been through worse.

By the end of my 14 laps, the person in front was on their 10th. I passed the shocked coach and went to get my water. On my way I found myself face to face with ____ eyes. " Oh sorry!" I said bumping into Xavier. His arms were holding my shoulders and supporting me because if they weren't I was going to fall.

"It's okay," he said laughing. "You busy?" I looked back an saw everyone still running or maybe even just plain dragging their bodies. I shook my head thinking of how I was still okay even after that. "Let's go for a walk."

We began walking in a random direction and bumped shoulders often. When we got by the pool I sat down and dipped my feet into the water after taking my shoes off. He did the same and we stayed like that for a while in silence. It wasn't an awkward silence it was comfortable.

"You said your name is Sally... right?" he asked looking me in the eye and taking my breath. Those eyes. And the hair! I admit I have a hair fetish don't judge me. I nodded in answer to his question. "It's very nice. But no offense you don't look like a Sally." I cocked my head to the side confused. "I don't know you just look like an Emma," I froze, "Or Jessie I don't know it's odd."

I just shrugged. "So where do you come from?" I asked not recognizing the accent.

"You could say I'm a mixed breed," In the background I would definitely hearing Symphony. "Half British and half Italian."

"Nice," I said. " It's a very interesting combination." It really."

"You're really fast for a girl." He said with a smirk. That was a very nice smile –smirk- whatever it was... Wait.

"Were you watching me?" I asked kind of creeped out. How else would he know that I'm a fast runner?

He started to rub the back of his neck his ears reddening just a bit. Oh my God was he really blushing. "Only on the last lap. How many did you do by the way?"

"Fourteen," I said shrugging. His face literally paled at the mere thought. He then lifted my arm and started checking if I had any injuries.

"How are you alive?" he asked not even joking. That was child's play.

I just shrugged it off. He then shook his head and then got up stretching out his hand to help me up. I looked at it then up at him and smiled slipping my hand into his. He hauled me up and to stop me falling he put his hands around my waist.

I looked up at him while we were in that position. He smiled and looked me with those innocent eyes. Symphony...

We walked to the rest then and when we did I saw what he was talking about everyone else who was in my class was sprawled on the ground while others were being attended to by the nurse. Wow.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

I walked into class and saw Daniel glaring at Alex who – surprise surprise- was in my seat. I walked up to him awkwardly because I didn't want to be rude and chase him out of my seat, but that was my seat and I had nowhere else to sit.

He looked up at me clearly angry and irritated, "Um... you're in my... uh ... seat." He looked like he was about to kill me, but when he looked closer he calmed down and gave me an apologetic smile.

"Sorry 'bout that I'm just on edge right now." I shrugged and he stood up and sat in the seat next to me. I glanced back and looked at Daniel, why? I don't know. He looked frustrated and infuriated. I sighed and took a piece of paper out of my book and quickly scribbled down.

You look frustrated. You should have ice cream to cool down.

I threw it at him and it hit him squarely in the nose. I covered my mouth not to laugh at his shocked expression. He gave me a tired glance and picked the paper from the ground. I saw James trying to look at the letter but Daniel just pushed him away. He glanced at me with a smirk his stormy eyes were shining with excitement.

He turned over the paper and started writing it seemed to take him forever and I had long since given up on getting an answer soon.

I saw him raise his hand getting ready to throw and I got ready. When he flung it I was so close to catching it when it just disappeared from the air. I looked at the teacher to see him sleeping on the desk. I glanced at Alex to find him reading the letter. When I realized that he was reading he was already done. He wrote something down and then slipped it to me with a seriously upset face.

I read what Daniel wrote first and was shocked at how little he wrote for such a long time:

Dinner sounds better. Maybe just start of with ice cream after school then see what happens.

At the end he put a winky face and me since I live in the gutter thought about something else. I blushed furiously and looked at him with a surprised look and he just winked at me then gave Alex a deadly glare.

I read what Alex wrote next:

You planning on killing him too, Emma Stone?

I froze. Oh no. No no no no! Not yet not now. I put my head on my desk and literally cried. My life was ruined. Crying caught him off guard. I stayed like that for the whole lesson and the moment the bell rang I grabbed my bag and ran out crying all the way. In my head I was making fun of myself. I'm the sissy.

"Sally!" I heard Alex calling me, but knowing I was definitely faster than him I ran out into the field. He kept calling me until I couldn't see him anymore. I heard the sound of metal being banged but kept running until I was under the bleachers just sitting there sorry for myself.

"Sally?" a new voice asked. I immediately realized it was Daniel. I didn't look up. I didn't want him to see me crying. He most probably new what I was doing but still.

He sat next to me and put his arm over my shoulder. I froze. He realized and sighed putting his hand down. I was lonely already. I grabbed his hand and put it back causing him to chuckle lightly.

"What did he say?" he asked. I breathed out and suddenly I felt like I could tell him. He sighed when I didn't say anything, " You can trust me." I know. " But anyway are you still on for a day out?" I giggled then nodded my head and wiping my eyes and looked up at him.

"Let's go." I stood up and gave him my hand and he took it and we headed out.
