Chapter 4 - Murder gone wrong

Noah followed the rest as he watched Savvy pour a ton of sugar into her hot chocolate. The professor was leading them back into the lab they've woken up in, informing them that someone will be joining them.

"Savvy, that's too much. It's not healthy," Noah whispered, his brows furrowed as he stared at her mug.

"So? I'm 16, let a girl live."

He shook his head, disappointed in his best friend for being careless with her health. As they walked, Noah was quick to notice someone walking towards the group. This guy seemed to stand out from the crowd in Noah's mind. His big green eyes glimmering under the white lights that hung above, soft-looking hazel chocolate locks carelessly pushed back, unharmed fair skin, and a structured body build that matched the Greek gods' Marble statues.

Noah was plainly admiring the sight.

His heartbeat had seemed to beat faster when he realized that the professor actually knew him. "Ah, there you are, I was wondering when you'd show up."

"Sorry man, the station held me back. How are you?"

Noah watched as the two greeted each other happily like they were childhood friends. It kind of made him jealous.

The professor smiled at the group as he patted the green-eyed boy's back.  "Guys, this is my cousin, Isaac Rivera. I'm sure you've seen him at least once around the police station."

"You're hot, too," Nova commented, pushing her locks back. This, of course, disappointed Noah, causing him to ask himself that Isaac was most likely straight.

The cops of Everford disliked anyone like Noah. The whole town did. That's why you'd rarely find gay people around here.

"Do you, um, say this to everyone you find attractive?" The professor asked, clearly weirded out.

"I find hot people to be very rare in this city. I've probably said it three times only."

This made Isaac laugh loudly, sending chills down Noah's body as he heard the melodic voice.

"I'm sorry, as much as I'd love to return the comment, I'm gay."

Noah froze in his spot as he watched Nova turn to face him with a wicked smile. "He's all yours, what do they call you again?"

"Good gayness!" Savvy pointed out happily before taking a sip of her drink.

"Yes. He's all yours, good gayness."

He clenched his jaw, his face snapping towards Savvy before looking at Isaac, who was already looking at him with a confused amused expression.

"Noah, he's looking at you," Savvy whispered as the group started to walk again.

"I know."

"He keeps glancing back at you."

"I know, shut it!"

"He's laughing. Could you stop being funny and weird."

"I'm nervous! Okay?"

"Well, then it seems to amuse him."

Noah inhaled deeply before lashing out on Savvy. "I know! Can you stop stating the damn obvious?!"

The whole group stopped to see what was the commotion going between the two.

"Do you mind? I'm trying to have a conversation here," Nova explained, clearly annoyed by the sudden stop.

This made the young boy blush before clearing the throat. "Sorry."

They all brushed it off and continued to enter the lab one by one. When Noah entered, he saw Isaac removing his coat to reveal his uniform. The long sleeves were rolled up neatly, revealing that his skin was actually harmed. His forearm had birds flying around with spread wings. There were four of them, Noah counting them carefully as he awed the great details in the wings.

"Okay, let us all sit. It's better that way," the professor sighed, hanging his coat on the hanger before walking up to the chair next to the station and typing something on the keyboard. He eyed the giant screen as tabs closed and opened. Everyone agreed, deciding to sit on the closest chair to them. When Noah realized that Isaac sat next to him, talking lightly on the phone, he could help but hide his face to avoid risking anyone seeing his possibly reddened face.

"Before we begin, I would like to know what did you guys order that costed me over fifty dollars?"

Everyone in the room stared at Savvy who already had a sheepish smile on her face as she clutched the cup. "Allow me to explain. I woke up hungry as a hippo. Plus, I shared!"

"Did you guys eat everything you ordered?"

The four nodded, each feeling embarrassed for seeming too hungry.

"At least something good came out of it, I was afraid that you all let it go to waste."

Isaac snickered before replying, "Have I ever told you that you sound a lot like grandma. You clearly spend too much time with her."

"You're just jealous she prefers me more."

"Don't flatter yourself."

Nova cleared her throat as she switched glances between the two cousins. "As much as I'd love to know more about your personal life, we're still here waiting to understand the whole situation."

The professor replied with a light "yes" before walking up to the counter everyone was sitting themselves around.

"Okay, allow me to introduce myself properly. My name is Elijah Rivera. I will be aiding you guys for a bit until everything gets under control."

"What about Isaac?" Savvy asked.

"He will be here to make sure you four are out of trouble."

"Trouble?" Noah whispered, confused as to what "trouble" they'd get themselves into.

"I'll explain that later. I believe that you all deserve to know what happened in your school's chemistry lab first."

He pulled something from under the counter, placing it lightly for everyone to see. It was a tiny rock, radiating with purple-tinted energy.

"There was a planned Bomb planted under the table you guys sat on. It was not big enough to break the whole school but enough to hurt the people in that lab."

"So you're saying someone wanted us dead?" Lucas asked worriedly.

Silence followed by before a Nova slammed her hands on the counter. "Absolutely ridiculous! Not only am I mad that someone wanted to kill us, but the fact that they failed horribly. What kind of dumb person would allow this to be a "murder gone wrong"?!"
