Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

As Alex returned home, disappointed, he remembered the old book. "I should probably check out what it's about when I get home." He said to himself as he got off his bike and made his way into his house. His mother was sitting on the couch watching an old TV show she and his dad used to watch all together. He decided to leave her alone for the time being and check out the book. Lou looked back from his computer where he was working. "How was class, Alex?" He asked. Alexander looked back at him. "Well the academy shut down for some odd reason. I'll ask Lucianno about it tomorrow." He and the music professor had a close bond and often called each other. Alex put away his music sheets and clarinet case and took an old flashlight out of his main desk drawer. This will do if I actually wanna see what's inside.

Alexander descended to the basement where he looked for the book. "All right… where could you be?" He murmured to himself as he looked around the abandoned cellar. Just then, he noticed something crawling on the ground. He leapt as far as he could away from the thing. "What the-" It was a curious little creature. Like a hand, crawling on its own. Looks like it wasn't alone. "Wait.. there's more of you guys? Where are you coming from?" He looked around. He hadn't seen anything like it before. "ALEX! DINNER'S READY!" Alex's mother yelled from all the way upstairs. "I'll check on you little guys later.." He said, pointing to the 'claw monsters', huddled together.

There was a certain quietness as they ate together. Nobody spoke, as the mother looked tired and her face tear stained. Lou broke the silence and cleared his throat. "So, Alex. What were you doing down in the basement?" He asked. "I saw you go down there and couldn't help but wonder." Alex almost choked on his water "Oh! Uh….I-I was….looking for something…..?" He lied. Lou looked at him. Seeming to understand. But did he really?
