The flat of Cursed Blood section at the dormitories.
Lying his back on his bed, Yamaken played the previous scenes circulating Xeno and Kaori in his mind.
Xeno's actions and behaviour were certainly very wonderful to Yamaken.

He started to fall back on the bed when he suddenly remembered someone that he jolted back up, "That's right, there is one! Saki!"

"There you are," Kaori tapped on the boy's shoulder.
He turned around to meet a pair of clear dark brown eyes, "Oh, Kaori. What brought you here?"
"You did," Kaori presented him with a big smile. "Who introduced you to this place, Wood?" She picked up a conversation.
Wood smiled, "Maki. He suggest me that as you guys have an enormous collection of books, I should check them out if I'm interested."
"Are you interested?" Kaori sat on the table, facing Wood.
"Yeah, I love reading and learning through it," Wood nodded positively, "And I couldn't hold back when I saw this book, especially."
He showed the cover of the book to Kaori โ it was a book on the history of Power Clan.
She chuckled, "I'm glad you aren't bored."
"Why? Did the history bore you?" Wood questioned, making Kaori fake yawning.
"Of course."
Wood scoffed helplessly, shaking his head side to side.
Kaori hopped down the table and stood behind Wood, putting her hands on his shoulders. "Wood," She called.
"Yes?"
She tilted her face before him and smiled, "I'm thinking of going to the town with all of you. I got the permission from Kazuma-sensei as well. Since we don't have anything to do anyways, will you mind coming?"
Wood shrugged, "To the town? I'm okay but why are you asking all of a sudden?"
Kaori giggled, "Why else? To make it up to you all of course! I made you guys feel deserted, I'm sorry."
"Still going on about that?" Wood said, "Should I offend you with questions like Willia did?"
"Hey!" Kaori reacted defensively again and pouted, "That's it, you guys would make the perfect couple ever. You are so rude and alike."
Wood smiled, "We would?"
Kaori realized what she had said and then hastily tried to cover up, "Ah, no, I mean.. Uh, well.."
Wood pressed his hands on Kaori's cheeks from both sides, making them puff up, "Oh, our little Kaori, how can we assure you not to worry about such trivial things and make you satisfied?"
Kaori blinked twice. Then she grinned, "Go out with me!"
Hearing this, Wood blushed, turning into a red tomato. He let go of Kaori without any word.
"Hm? Hm?" Kaori poked him multiple times, "Please!"
Wood cleared his throat loudly, "Will you choose your words a little differently? Thank you." "Sure, I'll go," He concluded calmly.
Kaori jumped in excitement, "Yes! Now Yamaken and Xeno are the last two left to ask. Don't go back on your word, Wood, remember!" She skipped away and probably headed for Yamaken in high spirits.
Wood had a displeased expression, "Did she even hear what I said?"
He recalled how Kaori asked him to join her to go to the town.
"Ah, she really shouldn't put it like that. What am I even thinking? I'm not even into herโ"
The scene replayed in his head.
"Auf, that girlโ Hey!" He called after the long gone Kaori, "Don't you dare state your request like that to others!"
************************************************
Wood had thought Kaori was going to go to Yamaken first since Yamaken and Xeno were the last ones left to ask. But he was proved wrong as Kaori went to find Xeno first.
She couldn't think of where to find him so she wandered around aimlessly. And doing that took her towards the forest at the back of the school building.
"It's been a while," Kaori looked up at the giant trees that were guarding the big entrance of the forest.
Without second thoughts, she entered the forest.
************************************************
After knocking on the door, Yamaken entered the study room, closing the door quietly behind him.
The room was empty but it was filled with the warm daylight coming through the two big windows that covered the right side of the room.
He walked up to one of the windows and leaned on the sill, watching the nature and letting the songs of the birds fill his ears.
"You're here already?" A voice spoke at the doorstep.
Yamaken looked back to meet Saki. He smiled, "Yeah, come in."
Closing the door, Saki walked towards Yamaken. She asked, "Why the sudden meeting? Missed me much?"
Yamaken let out a scoff, "You wish."
"I do, actually," A truthful confession followed, "I do miss serving you."
Yamaken smiled nostalgically at his companion from one time, "Yeah, I also do miss those times."
"But I'm not here for that," He went down to business, "I wanted to know some things from you โ if you know the answers to my questions, that is."
Saki laughed, "You don't know anything besides work, do you?" "So? What are the questions?" She enquired.
Pulling out a chair, Saki sat down while Yamaken casually took the table as his seat.
"Aren't you thoughtful about Xeno? After what happened between Kaori and him yesterday?" Yamaken asked defensively, worried if he's the only one thinking too much about the subject.
Saki didn't delay to reply, "Obviously, I was so shocked thenโ Wait, how did you know about that?" She demanded strongly.
"Oh, I," Yamaken lied smoothly, "I saw you guys from afar when I was passing by. Anyway, so don't you want to know why he had been like that?"
"He hadn't been like that, he still is," Saki stated expressionlessly.
She let out a sigh and said in a depressed tone, "Nothing would have started if Kaori hadn't done that back then. Everything might have stayed like it was in the beginning."
A crease appeared between Yamaken's eyebrows, "What are you talking about now? What did Kaori do?"
"Kaori.." Saki looked up at Yamaken, "Is the reason Xeno turned himself into what he has become."
Yamaken scoffed, "Are you blaming Kaori for his change? That's wrong."
"I'm not blaming Kaori," Saki said sternly, "I know the story that you don't."
Yamaken stopped, "There was something all along?"
"Yes," Replied Saki. "11 years ago, the day before their departure, you remember the gathering Xeno had called us for, right? Kaori wasn't present then."
"Yeah," Said Yamaken, "I remember. Xeno was determined to meet Kaori so Haru had suggested him to call her personally to meet up."
Saki agreed, "Exactly. He had, indeed, followed Haru's suggestion. I had helped him meet up with her."
"You?"
"Yes. Back then, Kaori stayed close to me for her own need, so when I asked her for this small request, she couldn't reject me. But you won't believe, how much I regretted that afterwards."
"I knew Kaori wouldn't want to tell me everything that had happened in the meeting. So I had attached a bug on her wristband because I was desperate to know if everything had gone okay."
Yamaken grasped her words, "So you heard their conversation?"
"Yes," Saki replied in the affirmative.
Curiosity took the best of Yamaken and he leaned closer to his former shinki, "Will you tell me about it?"
After a moment of staring contest, Saki let out a deep breath before beginning, "They had met up in the hallroomโ"
Yamaken cut in immediately, "The hallroom?" He repeated loudly in surprise.
Saki was dumbfounded and she said blankly, "Yeah, the hallroom. Why?"
"Ah," Yamaken apologized for cutting in, "Sorry, please continue." But his brain cells had already started running.
"You know how Kaori was at that time," She continued, "So the two ended up getting in an argument right at the very beginning. Kaori was half heartedly interested in the things Xeno wanted to say so she had bluntly slashed in every words he had attempted to speak. This had made Xeno to start hesitating on his words. Then Kaori had finally lost her patience and had told Xeno that he was wasting her time."
Yamakrn gulped, not making any sound so that Saki could go on without any hamper.
"That was when it all started to go wrong. Xeno had tried to stop her from leaving by trying to grab her hand. But she had slapped it away, telling him not to touch her."
๐๐ฐ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ข๐ต'๐ดโ!
Saki sighed sadly, "I could feel just from his voice that he was truly hurt and utterly surprised to be treated like that. He had tried to approach her in a different way but Kaori had cut him out, saying that she wasn't interested to hear anything."
"Before leaving him alone in the hallroom by himself, she said something," Saki stopped as she looked at Yamaken who was at the edge of the table's corner on which he was sitting.
"What was it?" Yamaken whispered as if he was scared to say it any louder.
Saki quoted the cruel words of Kaori that she had said to Xeno 11 years ago โ "Oh and, please change your way of talking. It makes you sound childish. Grow up, okay?"
To Yamaken, it felt like the world had crumbled under his feet when he heard the words Kaori had used against Xeno 11 years ago. He couldn't believe those harsh words had actually came out of Kaori.
He lost all his hope and stood up from the table he was sitting on.
He couldn't believe that this is what she said to the person he was defending her from. He wasn't sure anymore if Kaori was worthy of being defended this time.
************************************************
As soon as Kaori stepped into the forest, an arrow flew at her.
Thanks to her strong reflex, she avoided it smoothly. The arrow hit a tree trunk with a sharp sound. Two sharp knives slipped to her hands from her sleeves and she looked up at the direction the arrow was shot from.
A glint of a blue light caught Kaori's eyes and she stopped in her tracks.
"Xeno?" She called out loudly, putting away the weapons and then someone landed from the tree, making her flinch in surprise.
The white hood had fallen off the boy's head, revealing his stunning blue eyes, silky white hair and the attractive face. "It's you," He apologized, "I didn't notice, sorry."
Kaori must've stared for too long that he leaned forwards with a frown, "What are you doing here?"
"Huh?" Kaori snapped out of her daze, "Ah, I.. I was just.. Passing... By....." She trailed off awkwardly.
Xeno sighed, "Leave, I'm here to practice my shooting skill."
Kaori spoke up sarcastically, "Really? Then I can assure you that it's great! You almost killed me back there."
As Xeno raised an eyebrow with a poker face, Kaori lost her enthusiasm to be sarcastic.
"If you're practicing," She offered, "Let me be of help."
"I'm better off without your help," Xeno rejected coldly, unbothered.
Kaori scrunched her face up in annoyance, "What aโ Fine! I'm leaving!" She rolled her eyes and turned around to leave.
But as she remembered that she was looking for this guy over here for a reason, it made her stop in her tracks.
"Aren't you leaving?" Xeno called, pulling on the string of his bow.
Kaori huffed, clenching her hands into fists. Turning around, she stomped towards Xeno and announced angrily, "We are going to the town today in the afternoon!"
Xeno had attached an arrow to his bow to shoot but he stopped and glanced sideways at Kaori.
"So?" He breathed, pulling on the string attached with an arrow, he targeted at the trunk of a nearby tree, "Why are you telling me this?" He shot the arrow and it hit straight on the tree.
Kaori watched with no expression and replied as she looked at his face, "Because I want you to join us."
Xeno finally put his bow down and faced Kaori, "And what made you think that I would?"
"Xenoโ"
"I'm not interested, so go ahead," He picked up another arrow and shot it.
And then he picked up the third. Aiming at his target, he asked Kaori, "Aren't you leaving?"
"No."
*Shoot*
Xeno missed the target and then he looked back at Kaori, "I gave you my answer."
"And I'm not satisfied," Kaori said back, "I won't leave until I'm satisfied."
A scoff came out of Xeno, "You really are something."
"Xeno," Kaori looked up to meet his eyes, "Why are you being like this? You were fine even yesterday until you snapped at me not to touch you."
Xeno ignored Kaori and put on another arrow to the bow.
"Why are you trying to repeat the same mistake I made 11 years ago?"
*Shoot*
Another one missed.
However this time, Xeno didn't stay calm but he grabbed Kaori's shoulders tightly and looked at her fiercely.
"What else do you want me to do? It was fine when I didn't know anything but after learning everything now, how can you ask me to sit still?" He demanded, shaking Kaori roughly.
Kaori winced in pain, "Ow! Xeno, calm downโ"
"Calm down?!" He yelled as if he was possessed, "How can you ask me to calm down when everything is like this? But then again, it's all on the bright side for you, don't you think?"
"What?" Kaori asked weakly in disbelief.
Xeno ranted, "You looked away from Haru, from all of us when you had your own shinki. You treated us like we were nothing! All you could look at was that person! Fujinuma! And then I wanted to meet you for one last time before leaving. I thought I couldn't see you again, so I wanted to meet you desperately. I wanted to say some things before leaving. But how did that turn out? By your insulting me and by your being ignorant of your people, of how they felt!"
"X-Xenoโ"
"Don't call my name!" He roared, "Don't call me by that name. The Kaori I cherished...used to call me by that name. I don't want to hear you making it rot."
"...." Kaori's eyes teared up.
Xeno sneered, "And look at you now. You are the leader of this clan. You're happy, aren't you? Do you feel any sense of shame? Guilt? Anything at all?"
"Please, listen to meโ" Kaori tried to speak again.
"Tell me if you felt anything!" He shouted, eyes filled with tears, "Tell me if we ever crossed your mind. Tell me..." He started to shake, sobbing hardly.
"Haru..." He tried to catch his breath, "He didn't deserve this. He didn'tโ Kaori, you didn't listenโ" He sobbed loudly, "You didn't try to listen how he was feeling! You won't believe it, if I told you all the things he wanted to say to youโ" Crying even harder, Xeno lost the track of what he was saying and broke down completely.
Kaori was shocked at how much the boy had become emotional. She had teared up at the beginning but now she was frozen to even react accordingly.
All she knew that she had done was pulling the wailing Xeno into her arms and patting his back, not holding her own tears back.
************************************************
After Xeno calmed down, he became completely devastated. Seeing his state, Kaori took his bow and quiver on her back and held Xeno by his arm, leading the dazed boy out through the forest and toward the garden of the headquarters.
A few miles walk away from the forest in the back of headquarter building, there was a garden at the south-east part of the headquarter ground. Trees of fruits, beds of flowers and plants of vegetables filled the garden. Butterflies and bees were hovering around the fully bloomed flowers to the ripe fruits that dangled on the trees.
Kaori stressed Xeno to take a seat on the cordon of concrete which was attached to the entrance gate of the garden.
Xeno sat down expressionlessly and stared into blank space. Kaori kneeled down before him on the ground.
"Xeno, hey," She clapped her hands before him, "Come on, snap out of it."
Xeno raised an eyebrow in question, "What is it? I'm okay โ if that's what you are worrying about."
"You don't look so," Kaori shrugged, "Should I go bring you something? Anything?"
Xeno shook his head negatively in reply. And then suddenly he seemed to snap into reality. "Hey, why did you bring me here?" He whined, "I was practicing shooting!" He stood up immediately and tried to grab his quiver and bow from Kaori who swiftly moved away.
She held his hands tightly while saying firmly, "We need to talk first."
The latter gulped, knowing what this was going to be about, and tried to act clueless, "Talk? About what? I don'tโ"
"Xeno."
"Okay," He sat down like a good boy, "What do you want to say?"
Kaori slowly took the seat beside him. Then she spoke seriously, "What you said back there... No, the reason you were reacting like that until recently... It was because of Haru?"
A silence followed as the reply from the white haired male to Kaori's enquiry.
She nodded quietly, chuckling dryly, "I thought you were mad at me about yourself. But you were actually thinking of him..."
"Xeno..." She called the quiet boy softly this time. Kaori shuffled a bit to turn and look at the other's face. "What did you learn about him at the last moments of your departure that you are feeling this much for him?" Kaori questioned Xeno quietly, "What were the words of Haru's that were left untold?"
As Kaori watched the boy beside her for another few minutes in silence, she understood that he had decided to stay silent in all of her questions. So she thought of urging him a little more.
"You know, right?" She threw a hunch in the dark, "That's the reason why your heart breaks everytime you see me. The reason why you were pushing me aside. I'm right, aren't I?"
At this, Xeno finally let out a shaky deep breath and fidgeted with his fingers, looking up at the sky with teary eyes.
Kaori got worried, "Xenoโ"
Xeno cut in nonchalantly, "You know it already โ since I'm a descendant of the Wind, wherever there is wind, I am connected to everything through it. Just like that, I had heard those noises. The noise of a pen scribbling on a paper every night, the noise of someone's tears falling down droplet after droplet, the noise of someone's sniffles, the noise of papers being torn away โ those noises were carried through the wind to my ear every single night back at that time 11 years ago."
Kaori waited for Xeno to continue with wide eyes, a mixture of surprise and confusion visible in them.
Xeno moved on, "queries had filled my mind so I had followed the sounds one day to be lead to the dorm room of none other than Haru. I couldn't barge in and throw him questions, of course, so I had decided to sneak in to find out what was going on. When I did, I found nothing unusual. I searched everything and then found a clue that answered all of my questions on the sounds."
"What was it?" Asked Kaori.
"His bin had been filled with crumpled papers. His desk had had a notepad lying open and a pen on top of the page. I had smoothed out one of the crumpled papers to find out that Haru was trying to write a letter... And the recipient had been you."
This news totally was a shock to Kaori that her jaw fell slightly open, she was utterly dumbfounded.
"I had thrown the crumpled paper back in the bin and flipped through his notebook to find out that it was a diary. A diary in which he wrote letters to you every night about how he had passed the day. The latest letter had caught my eyes. It was a neatly written letter. I didn't know whether he had any plans of showing any of those letters to you but out of pure curiosity, I had taken the letter from its original place without permission."
"Xeno!"
"And I still have it with me," Xeno concluded indifferently, "That special letter had touched my heart that I wanted to deliver it to you by all means. But I wasn't able to. So I kept it with me all the time. Even now, it's right here, just the way it was taken, it's still kept."
As he finished his sentence, he took out a folded paper that had turned into a light vintage colour.
Kaori couldn't hold back her tears after hearing everything. They kept gliding down her smooth cheeks nonstop in silence. Seeing the folded piece of paper in Xeno's hand, she was glad that thanks to this boy right here, she would at least be able to know the words that had gone untold by her best friend.
************************************************
Yamaken quickly stepped back as soon as he caught them in his eyes. Hiding behind a wall, he peeped with a frown.
"๐๐จ๐ข๐ช๐ฏ?" He thought, annoyed, as he watched Kaori and Xeno sitting inside the garden afar.
Yamaken rolled his eyes, "Wow, would you look at them, they're all mushy-mushy now! How irritating. Weren't they fighting a while ago? I was worried for no reason, I guess."
*Pang*
Yamaken bit his lip, "I was even walking around looking for them. Such a waste of time."
*Pang*
His hand reached up to his chest, "Ow, my heart has been aching a lot these days. I should really visit the infirmary."
He shot one last death glare at Xeno and Kaori in the garden before striding off towards the infirmary.
************************************************
Wood walked out of the library with his eyes shining brightly. Then he caught Saki passing down the corridor from a long distance. He was about to call out to her excitedly but a sudden figure blocked his view.
He looked up at the face to be surprised.
"Oh! Headmaster," Wood nodded respectfully.
Kazuma laughed loudly, "I'm not the headmaster, Wood. Please do not refer to me like that. Just follow Kaori and be informal."
Wood tilted his head on one side as an 'OK'.
The two started walking alongside each other.
"Were you heading somewhere?" Kazuma asked, his hands folded in a specific way behind his back as he walked with a graceful look about his every moves.
Wood replied promptly, "No, not at all. I was just coming out of the library. I had a great time in there," He pointed back at the direction of the library, "There were a lot of fascinating books."
Kazuma glanced from the corner of his eyes, smiling softly, "I see that you have borrowed one. Are you interested in our history?"
Wood stopped walking, his ears were blushing. He became flustered and fumbled with the book in his hand, "Well, you see.."
"It's okay to be curious," Kazuma's soft, assuring tone made Wood look up. Kazuma looked back at the nervous boy and smiled, "I'm thankful that Kaori was able to find friends who are trying to know her better."
Wood and Kazuma looked at each other for a moment before Wood smiled back warmly at the older.

"What did you say?" The doctor raised his head from writing a prescription.
Infirmary of Power Clan headquarters.
As Yamaken had thought to himself, he came to see a doctor in the infirmary to make sure that he hadn't gotten any serious heart illness.
Yamaken patiently repeated the problem he was facing, "I said that I've been suffering from heart pain these days."
The doctor put down his pen and held his chin, leaning forward, "Heart pain? How so? When do you feel this pain and where exactly do you feel it?"
Yamaken started to become impatient, "Where else would I feel heart pain if it isn't feeling pain in the heart! As for whenโ"
"What?" The doctor raised his eyebrow as the latter dived into the sea of thoughts, "Why did you stop?"
Yamaken looked back at the doctor again and shuffled on his seat, "Well, you see.." He turned red, "I suffer from it in a specific time."
"Is that so...?"
"Yeah," Yamaken nodded. "When I see someone," He confessed directly.
The doctor looked even more confused now, "When you see.....someone...?"
"Yeah," Yamaken nodded innocently, "When I see that someone with another someone."
At this, the doctor clicked his tongue and took off his reading glasses, lying back on his armchair, "So you are saying that there is this person that you see who is with someone else and then you feel this pain in your heart?"
"Yeah," Yamaken replied brightly, "Exactly, doctor! What kind of disease is it? Is it serious? Could it be heart attack?"
The doctor scoffed in disbelief and sighed, "Yamaken, what you have is no disease at all. It's jealousy."
"What?"
"Yes, it is," He repeated firmly, "That person you feel the pain for, you don't feel any pain when she's not with that other person you mentioned, right?"
"Yeah, I don't like the other person, to be honest. He gives me bad feelings. Butโ How did you know that one of them is a girl?" Yamaken asked obliviously.
The doctor laughed, "It's true then. What you have there is jealousy." And then he sang teasingly, "Who are you jealous of Yamaken? For whom are you jealous? Wow, Yamaken has surely grown up. He's even catching feelings for someone! Who is it?" He asked curiously.
"No way," Yamaken said in disbelief.
"What? Come on, I'm telling you the truth!"
"It can't be... Not her.. Not for real. I was just being playful..."
The doctor got taken aback, "What are you talking about? Why? Who is it?" He asked seriously this time.
Yamaken gulped, looking up at the doctor, "If what you said is correct then the person I'm jealous of is Xeno and the person I'm jealous for is Kaori."
************************************************
Kaori took the letter from Xeno who had held it out to her.
"Read it later," Xeno requested weakly, "Read it alone."
Kaori looked back at Xeno from the letter. "Thank you," She said quietly.
Xeno stood up, "For what?"
Kaori couldn't find any reason to why she had thanked him. She just wanted to say it and she did.
Xeno's lip twitched ino a smile, "Don't thank someone for no reason." He grabbed both his quiver and bow from Kaori, "I'm going back to practice," He said before starting to walk away.
"It's free, so it's fine," Kaori spoke up, making Xeno stop and look back.
"What is?" He shrugged.
Kaori smiled, "Thanking someone."
Xeno laughed, shaking his head side to side and then he turned to leave again but was stopped by Kaori who had called out his name.
"Yeah?" He turned back at her, standing a feet distant.
Kaori took a deep breath and blurted out what was on her mind, "Can't you go back to the way you used to be? I'm really sorry, Xeno. I never really meant those from heart. I said it out of the impulse of that moment. And also, please come with us. Let's all visit the town together."
After a long minute passed by, Xeno closed his eyes and smiled to himself. He let out a soft sigh before walking up to Kaori. Then he hugged her out of the blue, which left Kaori in surprise.
"It's okay," He spoke softly in her ears, "I think this change isn't so bad either. What do you think? Does young miss agree with Xeno?" He pulled her away and looked at Kaori's eyes playfully.
The two broke out to a laughter at the same time.
"I'll go," He promised her, "Let's all visit the town together."
Kaori smiled brightly, "Yes!"
