Chapter 6 - Chapter 38: I Want To Know

*𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝙀𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙙*

Kaori and Yamaken both moved at the same time with double knives in their hands.

The two clashed in the middle of the field before jumping away and attacking again.

Everything was happening so fast that no one could predict what was going to be their next move or anything. They were just watching the two fighting with force.

*******

While the others were watching them, Yamaken was having a hard time deciphering Kaori's moves. Usually, he'd be able to read her moves through eyes or body language but currently, Kaori was hiding her face with her hands which also were holding the kives.

Yamaken backed off from another attck of Kaori's and kept a distance from her to think about his next move but Kaori threw her knife at him, making him startle but he dodged yet again.

As he got distracted while dodging, Kaori tried to trip him but he jumped high in the air as he flipped midway and landed safely.

He tried to grab Kaori's hands so that she wouldn't attack but Kaori was quick enough to take out another knife and attack him.

Yamaken quickly dodged and kicked Kaori's hand harshly, which made the knife in her hand fly out.

Even if Kaori was surprised by Yamaken's sudden movement, she took out another knofe from her inner pocket and attacked Yamaken who blocked her attack with his knives.

The two were facing each other, breathing heavily from the fight and sweating. Their knoves were pressing together forcefully.

"Why are you so desperate?" Yamaken asked, he really wanted to know why Kaori was fighting so harshly.

Kaori, who didn't reply, only glared at Yamaken, "Shut up and fight!" She yelled out suddenly, making Yamaken back off, which let Kaori have advantage.

She gave a hard flip kick on Yamaken's jaw, which send him flying at the other side.

*******

"Yamaken!" Saki yelled out as she saw Yamaken being kicked by Kaori.

Yukine frowned, "Is Kaori okay? She's not this aggressive.."

"When is she not aggressive while fighting?" Maki asked, "She always looses herself when she's fighting with someone."

"I hope Yamaken is okay," Saki murmured.

*******

Yamaken stood up, wobbling. Blood was coming out of his nose. He spit out some blood before wiping his lips, glaring at Kaori who was standing there before him with no expression at all.

"Now you've got on my nerves," He said through gritted teeth.

Kaori smirked, "Good, now it's gonna be fun."

Kaori twirled her knives between her fingers before standing in a certain position.

Yamaken scoffed before making a sudden movement.

He ran fast towards Kaori as he also took out his knives on the way. He acted like he was going to attack her with knives, but he threw a knife past her ears before jumping up in the air and flipping his body in midair and giving a kick at Kaori which she dodged, nevertheless.

Yamaken threw his second knife at her but she blocked that with the help of her knife. He attacked her again and again while she kept blocking or dodging and also adding some attacks along the way.

*******

After about five minutes of fighting.

Kaori and Yamaken were now standing feets apart from each other. They were out of breath and bruised in many places. Yamaken had a cut on his face and arm while Kaori had dirt all over he rclothes and face, her hair all messy.

Still, they each had a knife in their hand, ready to eliminate the other from the game and win for their team.

Kaori began her rush of attacks once again after a second's rest. Yamaken became tired of blocking or dodging, he tried to push her away and make her stop trying. But she wasn't giving up.

All of a sudden, Kaori backed off and threw almost eight knives at Yamaken altogether.

Yamaken was so shocked to see eight knives coming towards him that his brain stopped working so he was just standing there, waiting to be stained with blue colours.

But then, he felt a strong force at the right side of his neck which sent flying sidewards and hit a tree before falling onnthe ground harshly, a small yelp escaping his lips. Yes, Kaori had kicked him yet again.

As he had fell on the ground hardly on his back, his knife flew out of his hand and fell somewhere far.

He heard Kaori's chuckle before she sat down in front of him, a knife made of rubber which was stained with blue colour was in her hands.

"You loose," She said quietly before poking his shoulder with her knife and leaving a blue stain on his clothes.

Right then, they both heard Aomu-sensei's voice coming from their wristbands, "Blue team has won the game!"

And a whoop from the blue team's members could be heard through the wristbands as they were with Aomu.

Kaori stood up, offering a hand to Yamaken, "That was fun."

Yamaken rolled his eyes, "You broke my bones," He took her hand to help himself standing up and groaned, "My whole body will hurt from pain tonight."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. It's not like you were the only one to be hit, I received blows, too."

"It was a good game, huh?" Yamaken collected his kives, bow and the quiver full of arrows from the ground just like Kaori and began walking alongside her.

"Yeah, it was," She smiled.

*******

"What do you mean Kaori was hard on me in the field?" Yamaken yelled out.

Every students were now in the training room. They were talking about the game that took place a while ago. Gradually, Kaori being harsh on Yamaken while fighting was mentioned. So, that's why Yamaken yelled out.

Kaori laughed, "See? Even he knows that I wasn't-"

"She was super hard on me!" Yamaken blurted out angrily.

This made everyone laugh out, not because of what Yamaken said but because of Kaori's - 'Huh, and here I thought..' - look.

Saki said to Kaori, "But why were you like that? You seemed to have something on mind."

"I did," Kaori let out a sigh as she drank water from the bottle in her hand.

"Really?" Yukine asked, "What was it?"

Maki, William and some others also joined the conversation while Touma was the only one who was standing afar and watching the huge group.

"I- This game, it brings back a lot of memories, doesn't it?" Kaori asked slowly.

After a moment of silence, Maki decided to break it, "Yeah, it brings back all the memories. Like, we had a match after we learned our very first lessons. It wasn't something as big as this, we had to fight. It wasn't a 'capture the flag game'."

Mabuchi smiled, "We used to be new students back then so we were really introverted."

"Makes me remember Kaori," Takahashi spoke, "She was the most introverted among us. Well, to be honest, it was our fault to leave her side and misunderstand her when she was chosen to be taught by the headmaster."

Watanabe agreed, "Yeah, she was born talented. No wonder the headmaster chose her. We should've supported her instead of saying bad things about her."

"What had happened?" Touma joined the rest and sat down.

"Well, like everyone else, we didn't like it that she got to be taught by the headmaster," Suzuki explained, "So we were unhappy and.. Said things."

"Like?" Touma frowned. He added before he got and answer, "And now you guys came to this state? I thought you were close."

Yui objected, "We are close now!"

Maeda laughed, "But she was definitely the scariest back then."

Kaori smiled upon hearing her statement and quietly commented, "It was because I was in darkness that time and I thought being dark was meaningfull."

Maki spoke, "I'd like it if Kaori is the next headmaster."

Mabuchi, Gin and Aoi exclaimed with enthusiasm, "Yeah, yeah, it'd be awesome!"

Maki gave a smile at Touma who looked like he was confused and kind of taken aback.

Ogawa smiled, "I like this Kaori more. You are understanding, happy, cheerful, happy and a nice person. Now I know who you truly are. Your old version was just you in darkness and you who had lost path."

William patted Kaori on her shoulder, "Yeah, you're our leader no matter what Kaori. The things you did for us, the way you promised to protect us even when you've left this place, we don't deserve you. Thank you for being here with us."

Saki gave Kaori a back hug, "You know how much we all love you, don't you?"

The rest hummed a response of agreement and looked at Kaori for an answer.

Kaori smiled, her eyes tearing up, "Yeah, I know..." Her voice broke as she quietly replied.

Yamaken smiled as he was watching her.

*******

It was night time, academic activities had been completed for the day, so all the students went to their student dorms in the headquarter's building.

Every sections were separate and each of the students from each section had to share a roommate. So two students had to share a room. Since Kaori and Yamaken were the only ones in their sections, they each had a room for themselves.

It's been long since Kaori last stayed the night here. She was hasitating to enter her room, but in the end, she did and right now, she was standing at the doorway of her room.

It was dark and nothing could be seen, so Kaori lit up the light which she found after some time. As the light lit up, the room could be seen more clearly. It was clean, unexpectedly.

The room was coloured in a mix of gray and blue. The bed at the side of the room had gray sheets and a warm looking black blanket. There was a wooden table and a chair in the room and there were some other stuffs. It wasn't anything special, it almost looked more like a boy's room rather than a girl's.

Kaori walked up to the bed and sat down at the edge. She lied down on her back, looking up at the gray coloured ceiling.

She felt tired and sleepy, so she closed her eyes. But memories flooded her mind the minute she did so...

[Flashback]

"Kaori, get up!" A boy's voice called.

"Uhh, three more minutes!" Kaori whined from under the blanket.

"I said get up! You'll sleep at least thirtyore minutes when you say three minutes!" The boy called again, pulling Kaori's hand this time.

Kaori clicked her tongue, "You're so bothersome, Haru!"

She pushed away the blanket from her body, squinting at the boy whow as standing before her with a fumed up face.

He had big blue eyes with messy chocolate colour hair and he also wore spectacles. Unlike Yamaken, who was tall and thin and outstanding, Haru was a medim average boy.

"You are being late for class! After class, you have a lesson with the headmaster!" Haru whined, frustrated by Kaori's damn care attitude.

"Wait, you have the class with me, right?" Kaori suddenly asked Haru who looked confused for a moment by Kaori's sudden question.

"Uh, yeah. We are both being late for class, thanks to you," He mocked his master.

Kaori let out a laugh before grabbing Haru's arm and pulling him under the blanket along with herself.

Haru let out a yell, "What are you doing?!"

"Let's just both skip class, I'm sleepy," Kaori giggled.

"Wha-"

"Shut up and let me sleep. It's an order," Kaori said strictly which maxe Haru stop protesting and lie there with Kaori hugging him from the back.

He didn't know, when he also drifted off to sleep along with his master and best friend, Kaori.

[End Of Flashback]

A songle tear slipped from Kaori's eyes as she remembered that day. Evern if tears were escaping her eyes, her lips were twitched into a happy smile as she remembered those memories that were made with her best friend.

*******

"You know, can I ask you a question?" Yamaken asked out.

"Yeah, go ahead," Touma replied.

Yamaken let out a sigh before saying, "Why am I sharing my room with you?"

Currently, Touma and Yamaken were sleeping in two separate beds in Yamaken's room.

"Because there is no extra room in the water section," Touma replied.

"But why me?" Yamaken sighed again, "Aren't we meeting too often?"

"Huh?" Touma sat up on his bed, facing Yamaken.

"Just so you know," Yamaken also sat up, facing Touma, "I don't like you. You're disrespectful, arrogant brat. You talk bad about Kaori and the headmaster, I hate you. Yeah, I should say I hate you rather than I don't like you. You're so-"

"Are you done?" Touma cut in.

"Annoying," Yamaken ended bitterly as he saw Touma plopping into his bed again and turning around to the other side.

Yamaken was pissed off that he threw a pillow at him, which hit him on the head. Yamaken kept throwing until Touma finally faced Yamaken with a pissed off face, "What's your problem, huh?!"

Yamaken was startled by the sudden roar but he eased as some seconds passed by.

Then he hesitantly asked, "Ca-can you t-tell me about Kaori?"

"Huh?"

"Tell me, about Kaori, please," Yamaken looked directly at Touma's eyes which widened slightly.

"You mean?" He asked, back, confused about what Yamaken wanted to know.

"Tell me, tell about Kaori's family and everything else that you know."
