"Tell me, tell me about Kaori's family and everything else that you know," Yamaken stated with a desperate look in his eyes.

Touma stared at Yamaken for a long time before asking blankly, "And why would you want to know that from me?"

Yamaken was taken aback by the question. This kid was right, why was he asking him?

"Um, you seem to know a lot about her," Yamaken said awkwardly as if he was giving Touma an excuse for his wrongdoing.

"And why would you think that?" Touma asked again.

"Because... You were the one who said Kaori and her parents were banned from the Sakagami family," Yamaken pointed out breathlessly.

Touma blinked a few times, placing the missing pieces of the puzzle together before asking his third question, "And why did you think that I'd tell you anything at all?"

"Because.. Well, if you told me then you might have a chance to get a friend," Yamaken gave a cheeky grin which made Touma cringe, "Who wanted you as a friend?" He snapped at the grinning boy which made him make a sad face like a happy puppy was scolded.

"So rude," Yamaken pouted.

"Hey, hey, just a minute ago before you asked for this favour, you were acting all high and mighty.. What changed?" Touma asked the sad boy who was sitting on the bed at the opposite side.

"Well, I- don't know. You're rude and not a nice person but.. I think you have a good side in you, too," Yamaken smiled before asking, "Don't you?"

Touma scoffed, "Whatever."

He wrapped himself up with the blanket while Yamaken ask, "Um, are you not going to tell me?"

"I will. But I don't want you as my friend. I don't need anyone," Touma said proudly which made Yamaken let out a suppressed laugh.

"Everyone needs at least someone in their life," Yamaken said, laughing, "You might not have needed anyone until now, doesn't mean you won't need any in the future. I was willing to be your friend because friends are useful in many ways. I could help you if you ever needed anything. But, if you reject, I don't mind."

"Are you done?" Touma asked in annoyance, "Why do you talk so much? I thought Kaori was the girl who liked quiet types. Why does she have a blabbermouth as a shinki?"

"Huh? Wait, you're talking about me?!"

"No, I'm talking about me," Touma replied sarcastically, "Now shut up and listen if you want to know about Kaori."

"Okay, okay, I'm ready," Yamaken sat straight up, all of his attention on Touma.

"But, in return, you'll have to tell me something after I end the story," Touma said to Yamaken who gave the sentence a thought.

"Fine, deal," Yamaken smiled, making Touma smile as well.

"So," Touma began, "Once upon a time, there was a family named Sakagami. The Sakagami family had a son named Hiruki and he had married a girl named Haruhi."

"Why are you speaking like that?"

"I was just beginning," Touma cleared his throat, "And yeah, don't interrupt me when I'm talking. Got it?"

Yamaken nodded immediately.

"Okay, let's go back to our story. So, Sakagami Hiruki and Sakagami Haruhi had three children. Two daughters and one son. Their eldest daughter, Miina, is my mother. Then comes Kaori's mother, Kariu. The youngest child of theirs was Sakagami Kazuma, your current beloved headmaster, Kazuma."

"Among all of the three, grandpa Sakagami loved aunt Kariu the most."

"Now the question is if grandpa Sakagami loved her the most than why'd things turn out in a different way? I'm coming to that."

"Before this story starts, you should know that grandpa Sakagami is the creator of the Power Clan. He was the first headmaster and he was also the founder. Grandpa Sakagami was in.. Water section, I think. He doesn't have the power anymore since he had used it in something wrong."

"Now, grandpa Sakagami raised all all of his children with great love and support. Then after my mom came of age, she got married with my dad. Later, aunt Kariu's marriage was being talked about. But aunt Kariu wasn't agreeing to it because she wanted to marry someone she loved. And so, grandpa Sakagami wanted to marry her off forcefully because he didn't like uncle Mimura. But at that time, mom was pregnant with me so aunt Kariu's matter was put aside."

"Two years had passed. Grandpa Sakagami finally got the time to go back to aunt Kariu's matter, it was found out that, aunt Kariu had married uncle Mimura without letting anyone know anything. She was also pregnant with Kaori. This pissed off grandpa Sakagami, his heart was broken. He didn't think aunt Kariu, his beloved daughter, would do such thing. So, he banned them from the Sakagami family along with the baby Kaori who was still unborn."

"Later, aunt Kariu and uncle Mimura went to some country where Kaori was born. The small family, from what I've heard, had a happy life until... A car accident took place which ended the lives of aunt Kariu and uncle Mimura."

"You see, uncle Kazuma really liked his elder sister Kariu. He really looked up to her a lot. So I think after he heard about his sister and her husband, he was the one who took in Kaori secretly. Later, when he became the headmaster of the Power Clan, he also found out about Kaori's capabilities. So he decided to train her, I don't know if he had any motives or anything."

"Kaori was actually a quiet girl. I had come here to visit, so I met her here, too. Maybe she doesn't remember. But I didn't know her back then, I didn't understand that she was the daughter of my aunt.

She had a shinki back then, his name was... Haru? I think so. She looked really dark back then, she had this dark aura round her all the time. She was really good at fights and her skills were awesome. Everyone were scared of her, I think. But they talked behind her back, too."

"Grandpa Sakagami actually regretted the decision he had taken back then about banning them when he heard about aunt Kariu and Uncle Mimura. Even if he was hurt by his youngest daughter's actions, he still loved her dearly and was ready to forgive her if she had asked for forgiveness."

"I was old enough to start my trainings, so I began lessons with grandpa Sakagami. That was when news were flying about that Sakagami Kazuma, the new headmaster was training a girl named Kaori. Naturally, grandpa Sakagami reacted. He went straight to uncle Kazuma and asked him what the rumours were about. And that's how we learned that Kaori was the daughter of aunt Kariu and uncle Kazuma was really training her."

"Grandpa Sakagami got furious as he heard this. He asked Kazuma-sensei if he knew the consequences of what he was doing. And so, Kazuma-sensei said that he was doing everything on his right mind. He thought that the way aunt Kariu and uncle Mimura was treated was not right. They deserved better. So he was going to fulfill their rights through their daughter."

"Grandpa Sakagami was taken aback by Kazuma-sensei's behaviour. And.."

[Flashback]

"You, do you think that I'll let you do as you wish?" Hiruki asked, his face red from anger.

"Why? What are you going to do?" Kazuma asked, making strong eye contact with his father, "Are you going to ban me like Kariu and Mimura? Or their daughter Kaori? Are you going to take away my position? Like I care. You destroyed their life, father!! Hy was it so wrong to love someone and marry them? It's her life, father. Why did you go so far for this tiny thing? If you didn't do what you did back then, Kariu might've beenalive and safe at home! Not just Kaori would be here, my dear sister and her husband would, too!!"

"Sakagami Kazuma!!!" Hiruki roared, his eyes red, "Don't cross the line.

Whatever I did, I did it for the best. Kariu was a disappointment in the family."

Tears filled up to the brim of Kazuma's eyes and began to drop, "No, father. Kariu wasn't the disappointment, you are. You, Sakagami Hiruki, who destroyed the life of two people."

[End Of Flashback]

"That was the last time grandpa met uncle Kazuma. Uncle Kazuma was ruling the Power Clan ever since with nobody from the Sakagami family visiting him."

"And that's," Touma took a deep breath, "Everything I know."

"Whoa," Yamaken spoke up in amazement, "A lot of thing happened in the Sakagami family, huh? By the way, how do you know all of this?"

"I haveto know the history if I am to be the next headmaster of Power Clan," Touma replied shortly.

"Oh," Yamaken became demur, his mind filling with thoughts.

"Now that I've told you everything," Touma said to Yamaken, "Answer my question."

"Huh? Oh! Right, ask away," Yamaken smiled.

"Back at that time, everyone seemed to be scared of Kaori.. Why do they seem to like her now?"

Yamaken blinked a few times as if he was wondering if he fell asleep, "Wait, you-"

"Just answer," Touma cut in, swooshing his hand in the air in embarrassment.

"O-okay, uh.. About that, actually Kaori changed a lot from back then. She used to be ruse and hard to approach but now, even if she's introverted, she's friendly with everyone," Yamaken smiled as he imagined Kaori, "Even if she left the clan, she still considers us as family. She's willing to give everything just to protect us from any kind of harm."

"She knows what she's doing and she knows what she has to do. That girl grew up.

I guess, when you live with someone, you get to see different traits of that person. And as you grow to know him more and more, you grow to like him, too."

"Is that so," Touma muttered.

"But why are you asking that?" Yamaken asked Touma curiously.

"Because," Touma scratched his neck, "I think that a headmaster should know the people of the clan well.. And also be loved and love the people of the clan.."

Yamaken's eyes lit up, "Are you saying-?!"

Touma let out a smile, "Yeah, I think Kaori is better being the headmaster."

Yamaken jumped on his bed, "You are so wonderful, brother!"

Touma laughed at the other's actions before mumbling audibly, "But there are some problems. One is grandpa Sakagami and the other is that tomorrow... Is the day when the next headmaster of the clan will be chosen."
