On Friday, the day of the school trip.
All the students of the school were crowding over at the frontal field of the school. Some were talking in groups while others were busy with anything else.
There were two big buses waiting at the school gate.
The students were soon divided into groups. Luckily, Kaori, Dylanthy, Willia and Melissa were on the same team while the boys - Yamaken, Wood, Robin and Tom were all on another team altogether - boys and girls were in seperate groups.
Mr. Stephen, Mr. Walker, Mr. Lense, Ms. Laurel, Mr. Patt, Ms. Owens, Mrs. Timber and Mrs. Rowl were the teachers who would guide the students throughout the trip.
Soon enough, the passengers took their seats inside the bus and started for their destination - the forest village.
(Note: This place was made from my imagination so it doesn't matter if it actually exists in America in real life. Imagine that it's a village that's near the town Kaori and the others live in)
The school had booked a place to spend the night in since it was a one night two day trip. So the bus was driven straight towards there as soon as they entered the village.
No wonder that the village was named the forest village, it was surrounded by forests. You could see forest after forest through the window glass as if it had no end. The village was green and fresh looking also. There were small houses that were visible as the bus passed by the road speedily. The whole atmosphere was goluptious.
Upon reaching their destination, everyone got down from the buses and went straight into the inn to freshen up. There were a single room for each groups, so they were taken to their respective rooms lead by the inn-boy.
After getting fresh, everyone came downstairs and headed to the dining hall where lunch was being served.
As the delicious smell of food went into their nose, everyone's tummies growled in hunger and they hurriedly took seats.
As they tasted the food and talked along the way, all they could think was, this trip wouldn't be bad.
*******************
"Now, we'll all take a tour into the village!" Announced Mr. Patt with all the other guides standing by his side while all the students were gathering before them.
"Everyone don't get seperated from your group! Let's go now!"
"Yes!"
And so, the huge team of students and teachers began their journey into the small village.
*******************
"As you can see, this village was named as - the forest village - because of how it's surrounded by forests all over. The population of this village is not much either," Mr. Stephen explained as they walked around to explore the small village, "But, even if this village is small and there's not many people living here, it's pretty advanced as much as a small town could be. There is a mall in the middle of the village as if a city. You can find everything you need in that area. All kinds of shops or anything else is available there. It's kind of like a- like a capital of this village, that place is."
"The place is the middle of this village?" Venessa asked, confused.
"Yes, it's at the North-East side. I had asked the landlord of the inn about this village," Said Mr. Stephen.
"There's also an amusement park there, we'll visit there later on. We'll also have a look into the forests, too, since this village is special for it's big forests.
Now, we are going to visit the main temple, which is one of the most well-known thing of this village. So, shall we?" He asked the students for agreement.
"Okay!" The students replied enthusiastically.
*******************
While visiting the main temple of the village, they also looked around the places and had lost the track of time.
When they were talking with some village farmers, they realized that it had gotten late since the sun was already getting ready to set.
So, they decided to take a break for the day. After the talk, they returned back to the inn.
As the travelers were tired from the journey, they took a big rest.
At dinner time, everyone came down to eat and that was the time... When things began to take turns.
*******************
All the day long, Kaori couldn't interact much with her friends, so she rather felt bored and thought that maybe it was better not to come.
She was lying on her bed in the room along with Melissa and Dylanthy who were sleeping on their ones when Willia came to call them up, "Hey guys, get up. It's dinner time, the teachers are waiting for everyone. Let's go- Melissa!" She whined.
"Hm?" Melissa asked, half asleep.
"Get up, I said!" Willia took away the pillow under Melissa's head and gave her a smack on the face with it, "Get up, hurry. Dylanthy," She called sternly, making the said girl to sit up straight on the bed instantly.
"Kaori?" Willia called gently, making Kaori humm in return, "Aren't you coming?"
"Yeah," Kaori got up, letting out a huge breath.
Willia frowned, "Is everything alright? You've been looking down lately."
"Everything's fine," Kaori gave her a reassuring smile, "I'm just thinking."
"About?" All of the other three asked at once, making Kaori laugh, "Nothing special. Let's go eat, shall we?"
"Eh," Melissa scrunched her nose in disappointment, "Fine, let's go."
The three girls came downstairs to see that most of the others were already here.
Now, the dining hall was actually like a school cafeteria. It was big and it had the exact same system. Everyone was taking their trays and choosing the food they want to eat on to it and also have to pay the respective price. Later, they take seats and eat the food.
Kaori was going to do the same but she stopped as she saw what was going on a little far away from her.
It seemed like a heated conversation - even though they looked calm - between Yamaken and.... Timothy Doyle and his gang. Some others were watching the incident. The matter didn't yet get too far, or there would be way more spectators staring at them.
"Hm?" Kaori observed the situation, "Interesting.."
Her eyes flashed a light of annoyance.
****************
Yamaken was walking towards the table where his friends were waiting for him after filling his tray with food but he was stopped by a certain person - Louis Obispo, known to be Timothy Doyle's right-hand-man.
The boy sntached away the tray from Yamaken's hand and indicated in a certain way with the help of his head.
Yamaken was slightly annoyed by what Louis did but he turned to see what he was indicating nevertheless only to see Tim sitting at a table not too far from him with a smirk plastered on his face and legs crossed as if he was a king.
His smirk widened as Yamaken looked over at him.
Frowning, Yamaken approached the male, "What do you want?" He asked curtly.
"Hm," Tim faked thinking, "Nothing much. Just that.." He gave it a little thought before saying, "Go get me my food and don't forget to pay for it. You see, I don't have enough money with me. And also, make sure to bring edible stuff," He said in a fake sweet tone with a fake smile.
"Why would I do any of that? It's not like I'm gonna do whatever you ask me to do," Yamaken replied in boredom.
"Oh?" Tim's smirk turned into an evil grin, "But I'm not asking you, I'm ordering you."
"Who the-"
"You're not someone who's allowed to order him as you wish.. Nor are you someone for whom he should be paying for anything on behalf of."
Yamaken stopped as Kaori entered the scene. She stood towering before Tim with a pissed off expression, "So go do your job by yourself, you kid."
At an instant, Tim's humiliated face was on the view. But Kaori didn't spare it a glance and grabbed Yamaken's hand, "Let's go."
She pulled him over to the table where all of her friends were waiting for the two.
As the show was put to an end by Kaori, everyone decided to go back to what they were doing.
Tim was still wearing an embarrassed expression while Louis stood next to him awkwardly.
*How dare she!*
He looked over at the table Kaori was sitting at.
As they reached the table, Yamaken noticed that there was an extra tray on the table at which Kaori pointed, "We saw what was happening so I asked Willia to grab another tray for you. Hope you enjoy," She smiled sweetly.
Yamaken smiled helplessly, sitting down next to Kaori and pulling the tray towards him, "Thank you for the concern and the food. I'll enjoy it then," He gifted Kaori a bright smile before begining to eat.
The others also began eating their dinner, while also holding a conversation about the trip as they ate.
Tim glared at Yamaken, "I want to just-"
"What should I do with this?" Louis cut in, showing the food tray he was holding that he snatched from Yamaken earlier.
At once, Tim's eyes lit up with a mischievous look on his face. He looked over at the certain table again before giving a smirk, "You know what to do, Louis."
Louis didn't quite get what Tim was saying at first. But then, the thing clicked into his brain. As it did so, he also gave an evil grin before walking towards the table where Yamaken and the rest were sitting at.
*******************
As Yamaken was going to drink another spoonful of soup, he felt someone's presence beside him which is why he looked over to see Louis standing there.
He opened his mouth to ask what he wanted but before he could say anything, Louis poured over all the content of the tray he was holding on to the tray from which Yamaken was eating.
Everyone who saw what happened either gasped or yelped but all the eight friends yelled altogether at what Louis did, "Hey!"
Both of Kaori and Yamaken had immediately moved away from the table but they had stains of food on their clothings already.
Yamaken was blinded by anger that he didn't know whom to yell at. Then he sensed Tim walking up to him, so he glared at the boy, "What the hell do you want?!"
Tim calmly walked up to Yamaken and gave some low pats on his shoulder, "Nothing much. I just wanted you to eat a lot so that you don't loose your health. Enjoy your dinner," He said cheerfully before turning to leave with Louis following him.
Suddenly, Yamaken moved and quickly grabbed Tim's shoulder and turned him around on his heels, raising his own fist at the same time.
"Yamaken, don't!" Willia yelled.
Ignoring Willia's warning, Yamaken landed a strong punch on Tim's face which made the latter stagger backwards as Kaori's eyes narrowed.
*Short temper?... He wasn't like that...*
Tim stood up straight, wiping the blood that came out of his nose and the bloody corner of his lips.
He aggressively walked forward and grabbed Yamaken's collar raising his fist in the air this time to punch him back but unfortunately a furious roar was heard at the entrance of the dining hall.
"You! How dare you to cause a scene outside school?" Demanded Mr. Lense.
At once, Tim let go of Yamaken and stood there as if everything was fine but what was needed to be seen, was already seen.
"It's you again, Timothy Doyle! How do you plan to explain yourself?" Mr. Lense stepped forward into the situation.
Tim stuttered, "Sir, I.."
"Detention!" Mr. Lense announced before he could say any further, "You will be helping the landlord with cleaning for all day long until we leave this place! The both of you!" He glared at Louis who recoiled himself out of fear.
"Now get out!" He yelled at the two boy again who quickly ran out of the place together.
Mr. Lense then turned at Yamaken, "And you, follow me," He ordered calmly.
"Yes, sir," Yamaken was obediently going to follow him but Kaori stopped them.
She objected, "But sir, Yamaken only did that because Tim-"
"Ms. Kaori, don't get yourself into this otherwise you'll also be in trouble," Mr. Lense warned her.
"But sir!" Kaori tried to protest.
"Did I not make myself clear? You can't protect everyone all the time,Ms. Kaori."
"I'm not protecting him, I'm trying to explain the truth," Kaori pointed out.
Mr. Lense frowned, "Can't Yamaken do the explanation by himself? Why would you be doing it instead of him?"
"Kaori," Yamaken spoke softly, making her glance at him, "Step aside," He had something in his tone that made Kaori move even if she was hesitating.
Kaori and the other six stood behind and watched Yamaken's and Mr. Lense's figure walking away farther and farther.
**********************
At night, in Kaori, Willia, Melissa and Dylanthy's shared room.
After dinner, everyone went back to their room for the day; so did the four girls.
While Kaori was lying on her back and staring blankly at the ceiling, Willia was getting ready for bed, Melissa was playing with her phone and Dylanthy was reading a magazine.
"What happened to Yamaken? Did you get any update?" Willia asked as she combed her hair.
"Yeah, Yukine-kun said that Mr. Lense gave him a warning for using violence and also made him write an apology letter. Then he let him go," Kaori replied, "Seems like that guy gave a good explanation, humph."
Dylanthy let out a suppressed laugh, "Seems like he can manage these kinds of trivial matters."
"Whatever," Kaori shrugged as she sat up straight, her hair all messy.
Willia got up from the stool and went behind Kaori, combing her hair, "Why does your hair always look like a bird's nest?"
"Ow, be gentle!" Kaori yelled out.
"Willia, don't you know how she's like? It doesn't feel like she cares about her look," Melissa muttered, typing in her phone.
Willia replied sternly, "Still, she should take care of herself. So careless. Is protecting people all you do? You should give some attention to yourself as well," She said to Kaori, who let out a light laugh.
"I don't only protect people, though. I can do pretty much everything," She replied with a smile.
Dylanthy threw away the magazine on her bed, "Even if she's so messy, she's still good looking. So unfair, right?" She said with a playful smile.
"Come to think of that," Melissa also looked up from her phone, "I wonder how'd she look if we made her into something close to human," She wondered out loud.
Both Willia and Dylanthy made eye contact and then looked at Melissa who wiggled her eyebrows.
Then the three of them turned at Kaori who was wearing an expressionless face, "What are you guys planning to do with me?"
**********************
"Ta-da!"
"Aww, she looks cute!"
"I'd rather say she looks charming."
"Pretty is better. Or maybe beautiful?"
"Just say that I look perfect," Kaori shrugged.
"Yes, agreed," The other three nodded.
"It suits you. You should often do your hair rather than just letting it be messy and all over your head," Dylanthy suggested.
"Yeah, you look way better in a low messy bun! The fact that your hair is short made the messy bun look even more glamorous," Melissa squealed, "You look so mature and pretty!"
Kaori smiled at her friends, "Thank you."
"Then listen to us and do your hair from the next time you come to school," Willia piped up, "You'll be way more famous and everyone will just love you."
Kaori tilted her head, "But why? It's not like I need popularity or love. I am enough popular by being who I am or without doing my hair."
"What do you mean you don't need love?" Melissa suddenly asked, "I thought you like Yamaken. It'll be easier to make him fall for you if you bring some changes to your looks!"
"Huh?" Kaori said blankly.
All of the other three girls then asked together, "Don't you like Yamaken?"
