Chapter 5 -  CHAPTER 5: MISSING / REPLACEMENT

** 1 MONTH LATER **

This 1 month in Celestina 's life was probably the best and she will most likely never forget in her life. The three friends grew closer and created a special bond that could not be broken very easily. But she had this one thought she could never put aside: she felt as if Jayden and Emily were hiding something from her.

"Hola, chicos!" Celestina greeted as she found her best friends waiting for her arrival in front of their school. One of the perks of being with Jayden is that you can easily learn Spanish.

They greeted her back. She wrapped her arms around them and guided her best friends inside.

Suddenly, out of nowhere a boy around the age of Celestina popped out and stood before them. She shot him a confused look and glanced at him up and down trying to find anything suspicious about this guy.

His storming grey eyes held fake happiness almost forced, his brown hair sticking out of every direction as though he hadn't tamed them in months, his blue plaid shirt and brown jeans tattered as if to say he had been wearing the same for months and his white sneaker filled with dust and mud clearly showing he had been on a run.

Celestina heard a gasp from her right side, she glanced and saw Emily covering her mouth, tears collecting in the corner of her eyes making her hazel eyes shine.

She then glanced at Jayden to see he was eyeing that boy in disbelief and staring suspiciously at his right hand and looking back at that brunette; the suspicious glance was fully covered with disbelief and happiness.

There was an awkward silence filling between the four. Before Celestina could do anything Emily moved from the arm Celestina wrapped around her and launched herself into the arms of the new boy. She felt a pang of jealousy and protectiveness go through her.

She watched her friend sobbing into the arms of a stranger. She watched Jayden do the same and she just couldn't explain the distant feeling coursing through her veins, but she knew one thing: she never wanted to experience that again but she will be very often in the near future.

Celestina cleared her trying to grab attention. The keyword being, trying to. The three ignored her presence as if she was invisible. "Um...can I know what is going on in here?" She asked, trying her best to be polite.

They pulled away from the hug and she saw the new guy eyeing her as if she was his prized possession.

"Sorry. This is," Emily said, heaving a deep breath "Edward Pasten, our best friend."

Celestina blinked rapidly. That guy is her best friend's best friend...that was a lot to process.

"About a rough month before you came, Me, Edward, and Jayden were best friends from like forever, we were so close like-" Emily stopped at a loss of words.

"Like the golden trio?" Celestina suggested. Jayden chuckled before nodding and taking her suggestion.

"Exactly like the golden trio." he said, taking her suggestion, "On the first day when you came, we were extremely excited and happy because we saw the same nervousness, happiness, and pretty much every emotion in your eyes just as we saw in Edward's eyes the first day. This guy was my partner in crime." he completed patting Edward in the back.

Emily spoke next, crying "He agrees to whatever happens with him but no one dares to hurt the person he loves. We saw it the first week we were friends with him."

When Celestina glanced at the so-called Edward Pasten, instead of finding eyes that held happiness she found one filled with guilt.

"Later, one day we had a field trip to a museum and he went to the restroom alone and never came back. We only got shreds of his shirt and we presumed he was dead. We both were devastated, so was his sister." Jayden finished.

However the story was emotional, she just couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. The emotions in Edward's eyes and Jayden's story didn't match.

"So, how did you come here? What happened?" Celestina crossed her arms in front of her chest and decided to interrogate him, herself.

"Uh, um, c-can you come with me? I will show you." Edward said in a high pitch. His voice was very high pitched, almost alien-like. It was now that Celestina noticed this is the first time he has spoken in this reunion.

"Uh, what happened to your voice, Ed?" Jayden asked. "I-I just have, uh, cold. But nevermind right now just come with me I need to show you something important" Edward stuttered.

Emily was the only one who supported him. Even Jayden looked at him suspiciously. "Please, let's go and see what's wrong. He says something is important." Emily pleaded and Celestina couldn't stand looking at her friend like this. This is her biggest flaw, she couldn't stand to look at people suffer and plead let alone the one she is close to, let it be even a week of knowing, but this didn't avoid her skeptical stare at Edward.

"Alright, lead the way" Celestina commanded coldly. Emily looked at Celestina with a look that could be easily mistaken as disgusted. Celestina decided to ignore the look Emily gave and follow Edward.

He led them away from the school and into the woods close to the school. They followed him, not uttering a word as he led them. It was not a comfortable silence nor a tension-filled one. It was just a time to mull things over in their head and try to make a sensible decision. And Jayden stayed by her side throughout.

Not seeing Edward stop she bumped into him making her stumble backward slightly.

She looked up to see what was the reason they stopped but before she could register anything, Edward pulled her into something large enough so that it looked similar to a regular house but it didn't have the aspects of a house. Jayden and Emily followed them.

Once they were inside the...thing, Celestina yanked her hand from Edward and moved away from him and took a moment to glance at her surroundings and gasped when she saw that this place could be compared nothing to that of a home.

It was a spaceship.
