The past week was quite rough for Celestina. It was the time she and her friends were trying to wrap their fingers around this new concept but all they could do was touch the concept and flinch away realizing how novel it was.
Celestina tried to warm up to Edward but regardless of what she tried, they would always end up bickering over small things, with Emily and Jayden trying to prevent them from pouncing on each other and attacking. There was this one question in her mind which inevitably came to her after every fight hay had: 'What did I ever do to him, why does he hate me so much?'
But she would console herself by saying that he just feels jealous that she replaced him. Though she never quite understood why there was a need to console her, she didn't need anyone to please anyone...right? That was one of the questions that were left unanswered.
The one week in here was filled with awkwardness since this was completely foreign for her. There were times she jumped five feet in the air when No.666 would randomly catch her in the pantry room in the middle of the night - she can't exactly say when is night or day because...well, she was practically in the space - which would cause her to stutter out excuses and sprint to her room or the time where she would unknowingly bust into Edward's room assuming it's hers (that was one time though) and seeing him staring at her incredulously with tears stains - weird, was the only thought in her mind - and yell at her to get out.
With all these things she at times felt really sad thinking about her family back home but all that suddenly turns happy but annoyed seeing Edward and Jayden goofing around with her and Emily asking them to shut up or turning joyous when they played ludo; No.666 brought it which was never questioned how because they were so busy squealing over the fact that they have something to pass their time with other than speaking to each other or boring staring at the wall of the ship and overthinking.
However, she used to hear sobs in the middle of the nights - again, it's just a guess seeing that she was sleeping at that time - and being the curious cat that she is, she would go around pressing her ears to the doors (What about privacy? You may ask, but when you are kinda kidnapped in a spaceship that doesn't count) to find where the sobs come from but she could never succeed in finding it.
So, now there she is glaring at Edward in another argument with Emily and Jayden shaking their head, facepalming in the background.
"What is your problem?" she yelled, throwing her arms in the air, clearly frustrated with his anonymous behavior that she despised.
"You, you are my problem." he replied, folding his arms in front of his chest.
"Really? I don't even know you!"
"There is no need for you to know who I am! Yo-"
"Actually, there is a need," No.666 intervened, making their heads turn to his direction, "If you are going to save our planet then in that voyage you will have to know each other like the back of your hand."
Edward scoffed and left the place without another word, making Celestina even angrier than she already was.
"That guy! Oh my, what is his problem? Every time I speak to him, he just either snaps at me or ignores me like I am a piece of unwanted furniture!" she rambled to her friends who just shot her an apologetic look.
"He just needs some time, Les." Jayden said, placing a hand on her back, rubbing soothing circles with his thumb.
"For what does he need time?" she exclaimed.
"Things happened before these all Les, events intertwined and memories made him even more depressed. Just give him some time, he will come around" Jayden explained calmly.
The explanation was not at all convincing, moreover, it just led her to be more suspicious. Knowing not to press this matter more she decided to let it go, reluctantly.
"Fine," she mumbled, still slightly angry "When will we land? She asked Mr.Marmalade head.
"Um, within," he said, taking his time to walk to the panel where the ship was on autopilot and look at the screen next to it, "another 22 hours."
"That is about a day," Jayden stated the obvious.
"Obviously, how dumb are you?" No.666 asked rhetorically.
"Me? Dumb? Are you kidding me? I am the most brilliant out of all you guys here" Jayden argued, offended by his opponent's comment. No.666 just scoffed and left the place.
"History repeats itself." Celestina and Emily said at the same time before leaving the place not before hearing Jayden mumble to himself, "I am not dumb, am I?"
"Yes, you are Jay" Celestina replied, making him grumble an embarrassed "Shut up".
Celesia returned to her room; calling it a day she flopped on her bed and sighed.
In a matter of 21 hours, they would be on a planet nobody knows ever existed, facing challenges, "saving" it and most likely have a war with hideous creatures. Yes, this totally is not what she thought in the morning she returned happily to her school that day.
It was just a week but she was longing to see her parents and her siblings. She closed her eyes, the sweet memories she had with her parents flooded back to her mind.
She stood up and walked to the mirror. Admiring herself, seeing the beauty of her mother and father in her, reminding of Chase. She looked into her amber eyes. Unshed tears threatening to fall any minute. She was trying so hard not to cry not because it makes her vulnerable because it makes her lose confidence. One single drop of tear could bring a flood of bad memories.
But at that moment she couldn't control herself, so she did the second best thing she could do: letting her body take over her mind for a minute, she let that tear which she had held back for a very long time roll down her cheek.
Within minutes she collected herself wiping the tears that she let go and walked to her bed. Though the tears made a sad memory return to her…
'It was when she was 4 years old; she was standing in front of her brother's room wiping her eyes with one hand and holding an empty skittles packet with another. Her brother's door opened revealing a 7 years old Chase, way taller than when she was his age. Without hesitating a minute she hugged him, still crying.
Chase easily picked her up and walked inside his room letting his little sister cry in his shoulders and sat on his bed while cradling her in his arms and rocking her back and forth threading his hands through her hairs and giving her a massage. When her tears stopped and she only dry hiccups came from her, he slightly pulled away.
"What happened?" he asked gently, afraid she would start crying again if he raised his voice. She raised her right hand that was still clutching her skittles packet. Realizing what was the issue he chuckled slightly before leaning over his bedside table and pulling another similar packet to his sister and gave her that. Her amber eyes widened, she sat up in her brother's lap; this sight bringing a wide grin to Chase's face. He gave her the packet knowing if it was in his hands anymore she would have snatched it from him. She hugged him yelling "You are the best!" with a wide grin on her face.'
Her heart ached to be in her brother's arms being comforted by him. But knowing better she silently sniffled and slipped in the realm of peace excited and nervous for the upcoming events.
