A little girl with brown hair wearing a frilly blue dress just like a princess in old tales. she was playing Alone on the playground swing set while others play with each other, she was different in every way in fact...she didn't know what fun was, even though she got the biggest gifts and the most love out of three siblings, she still felt nothing. As most stories of hero's and love this little girl had the gift of sight as in she could see lost souls or the dead, watching them watch the living with empty and longing looks within there hollow forms sadden the little girl.
how could she smile when she knew others suffered in the world that people cant see is corrupted, she defined the world as the city of the dead...a city of longing and thirst to be noticed lounged within these poor unfortunate souls.
"Roxanne, come and eat lunch" said her father, a slim dark tanned skinned Hispanic who worked hard to provide for his family "yes come eat or i will eat it" her mother, large in size and white as american souls bellowed as she gulped down on her sandwich. The little reaper walked slowly to the picnic sight, she couldn't help but stare at the younger souls who walked through the park and gaze lonesomely at the living young humans, it was unfair to Roxanne, how others couldn't see what she saw, the sadness and grief that their own kind was in.
she sat down at the old, almost ancient picnic table to her family of mix breed, part american and part Mexican "what are you staring at, Rocks again" growled mother "no mom, i was thinking" "your always thinking, get out of the clouds and get in reality, you selfish brat" "now darling dont be so hard on her, she is still a child" barked her father, defending her from evil, her siblings looked at her, her older brother Michael who had thick dark chocolate brown hair that went well with the squint in his eyes "are you okay sissy?" "Im fine, i shouldn't be thinking anyway" Roxanne argued as she got up and left the table to walk around the small park.
Roxanne's mind was always somewhere else...somewhere over the rainbow where she could tell everyone how she truly felt and where people like her, the strange and unusual could live and be happy, but she knew better than to go deep into temptation, the thirst of that world was drowned with tangy oranges she plucked fresh from a small tree. As she took another bite out of the juicy fruit she waved to as many dead children she could, they would stare at her as if not believing the fact that they were seen, then she saw a little girl with golden curls and a puffy pink dress with the most beautiful black shoes she had ever seen, the little girl had emeralds for eyes and pearls for a smile, her face was sprinkled with freckles that went from cheek to cheek, Roxanne stared at her, her eyes locked on her perfect form as she played skip rope as if she had noting to worry about, all Roxanne could do was stare at this human swan.
she was too scared even move, she didn't want to frighten this girl away with her freak like abilities but she felt her self being compelled to move, her heart and mind raced as she got closer to this perfect figure, sweat began to pour from her small dainty hands as so her head, then her ears perked up, she turned to the loud sound, horror spiked from her heart as she saw a large blue truck coming at the girl with full speed, her legs kicked into overdrive as if her mind was never in control, her heart beat to the steps of her run "LOOK OUT!!" she shouted, the girl looked at her...she stopped in her tracks and waved "thanks for the help" with a smile on her face... her body was tossed into the air as scarlet petals fell from her body and stained her perfect dress, Roxanne dropped to her knees and stared at the body of the broken swan, once snow white and fair and now red...all red. Roxanne cried and sobbed over her failed rescue, the girl laid limp on the cold gravel "honey" Roxanne sot up to see her father standing over her "whats wrong?" "the girl, she got hit by that truck and-" "what truck and what little girl" Roxanne's blurry eyes fell back to the scene of the death, to her dismay there was nothing, nothing but the cracks and small pebbles that laid untouched on the road.
"sorry daddy, i was imagining things again" Her father sighed, he then gently picked up the young child and held her close, his warm embrace made her feel safe from the world...and herself "its not your fault Mi Hijo, the world should never be so cruel to a child, especially my child" Roxanne felt water stream down her face, her father was everything to her, when she was sad he always knew how to bring back her smile, the crisp autumn air felt heavenly to the two as the cool breeze seemed to have dried her tears, a faint yellow butterfly landed on the little girls nose and gazed into her different colored pupils "let get ready to leave shall we?" he gently placed her on the ground and took her hand in his much larger one "we shall" Roxanne giggled as she and her father walked back to the picnic, the yellow butterfly fluttered to a small patch of flowers before they were to die...
