The drive to the house was gruesome, the occasional travel games were awful and the awkward silence was so tormenting, this poor girl hated this so much, she wanted to go back to Schofield with Thomas and Maria but she knew that may never happen at least not until she moves out "we're here" grunted the mother, the children dashed out of the car to see a large ugly yellow house and 3 acres of back yard and woods "this may be interesting" Roxanne chuckled "okay go pick your rooms, tomorrow you start to school me and your father will bring in the boxes"
5:30 AM
the next day
Roxanne awake from a nightmarish sleep, her eyes bloodshot red with large bags under her eyes, she already hated this damned place. She got dressed and headed upstairs where her siblings were so joyful to be going to another school "are you kids ready" the mother cooed to the two children "yeah mom" they chirped, Roxanne glared at her mother "I hate you" she murmured under her breath. the children were driven to the school called Spokeland Owls, of course, Roxanne hated that name 'owls'. Roxanne and her family entered the school to see a large woman blocking their way "this is gonna take a while"
12:21
first-class
Roxanne entered the classroom where she was greeted by a grown man with chocolate hair "class this is Roxanne, she is a new student so please treat her with kindness" students chuckled and began to gossip, she rolled her eyes and took a seat in the back of the class "hi, nice to meet you, I'm Riley " a girl greeted her, she had nerdy glasses with a perky smile, she was your average geek that knew too much and did popular kids homework "I'm Roxanne as you already know, tell me what are the standards here" "excuse me?" "where are you on the popularity level" the girl smiled "oh well I'm the top in nerds and libra" "sorry, what the fuck is Libra?" "oh here at this school you are placed in classes based on your Zodiac sign, it's basically your birthday month, when were you born?" "April 30th why?" "wait for a second, you're in the wrong class" she then raised her hands "Mr. Tucker, Roxanne is in the wrong class" "whats her sign?" " Taurus sir" the teacher then phoned the office "yes I'm afraid Roxanne is in the wrong class this hour...Taurus...okay I will" he then hung up "Roxanne, you will be going to room 205" "um okay then?" she grabbed her things then walked out of the class "just go down the hall and make a left," the teacher said before slamming the door "well how kind of you, dick head" she growled before walking down the hall.
it was creepy, how quiet it was, she would have at least expected someone to be in the halls but nothing and why separate students by their zodiac signs, that's so stupid of them to do. she reached a door with the numbers 205 "this must be it" she then knocked on the door, a slim woman with brunette hair opened the door "you must be Roxanne I'm guessing" "yes ma'am" the women then looked at her "please come in" the women opened the door, her room smelt like pastry glazing, it was heavenly "class this is Roxanne, she will be joining our class for now on" the class looked at her with a smile except for one, he glared at her then chugged a pen at her, she caught it without even knowing there was something flying her way "Tyler Hitchens, office now" "no ma'am its fine, I just want to talk to him" Roxanne glared at him as she slowly made her way to his seat "what do you want" he growled "listen boy lets make something very...very clear" Roxanne then grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and jerked him forwards to where their lips were barley touching "I really dont want to hurt you but if I have to I will, I barley know you so I suggest you shut your sausage lips and listen, im not in the mood for bullshit, in fact, im not in the mood for anything, if you want to survive the school year with me then I think you should treat a girl better than what your doing now, understand me tyler" the boy was shaking "okay okay just get off of me you freak" Roxanne let go making his face hit his desk "alright, now that thats over, let me start over" Roxanne said as she returned to the front of the class
"im Roxanne Delaware, the one person you should not screw with, I hope that I can be 'friends 'with some of you if not all of you" Roxanne then walked to the back of the class and sat down as the teacher began to teach.
Lunch
Roxanne sat alone in the corner of one of the lunch tables until she was now facing Riley again "Hi Roxanne, hows your first day been" "well..." Roxanne smiled as she took a bite out of her fries "it was pretty good" "that's so good to hear, even after Tyler" "I think he's learned his lesson" she said with a wink "so do you want to be friends, I know you might not want to since it's your first day and all but it's well just that I don't have any friends and I'm lonely" she said with puppy dog eyes, Roxanne looked at her top to bottom then smirked "you know, its so rare that you find someone who is genuinely honest like you, people at my old school would ask to be my friend for the same reason but I could tell they were lying, do you want to know how I could tell?" Riley leaned in closer to listen "they would twitch" this confused her "but the twitching is part of being human especially being scared or nervous" "correct but it can also tell if someone is lying" "how?" "they're scared" Riley looked at her and swallowed "how do you know so much?" "You learn a lot over the years of being alone..." Roxanne said as she took another bite out of her fries "but yes I will be your friend, you're the first person who was genuinely honest and I respect that..especially someone who is loyal" Roxanne said leaning close to her face, Riley smiled nervously at how close she was too her, Roxanne looked deep into the girls eye's trying to find a bit of a twitch, any sign but nothing, she sighed and sat back down.
"So where do you think I end up on the popularity scale?" Roxanne asked Riley "you should ask the popular kids, they will determine your popularity in two days based on your activities and your sign" "that sounds complicated especially for a bunch of 12-year-olds" "it is but they have us, nerds, to help calculate accurately and honestly" "cool" "so how old are you" "12 why?" Riley gasped, her eyes seemed to light up "I'm also 12, ironic right" "I guess I mean we are in middle school" "yeah good point" she chuckled sweetly, Roxanne only smiled before finishing her fries, even though the fries were a bit soggy and bland, they were some what appetizing...
