Chapter 24 - Hero's party (8/10)

Marv looked with surprise at the bowing Masha. he could have sworn that Masha was one of those unnecessarily proud women who would bow to nobody. he stared at Alyssa and wondered what kind of relationship they must have. Alyssa was having a calm expressionless face right then and wasn't paying attention to Marv's curios stare but focused her attention to Masha who was bowing before her.

that's when it hit Marv. Masha had just said her name as Masha Kerian which meant she either head an extremely close family name to Alyssa or they were from the same family. he was leaning more to the second choice as it made more sense but it still was shocking to see such a situation and he slowly leaned back in his chair. to enjoy the telenovela happening before his eyes. he narrowed his eyes in great anticipation.

*********

Marv's lazing posture didn't go unnoticed by the other two but they just ignored him. Alyssa looked Masha dead in the eye as she straightened her posture. she let out a chuckle within her heart as she looked at her cousin bowing down before her.

{so the deserter decided to show herself...you sure left the household with a lot to deal with and it was a royal pain just trying to fix all the problems you left me...but family is family.}

Alyssa let out a sigh and told Masha to not be so formal when addressing her. after all, they were cousins.

Masha relaxed a bit and sat down at a third chair with its back to the cafe. when she sat down a waitress appeared and gave Masha a recommendation to try the cafe's coffee. with ordering the coffee Mash turned her focus to Alyssa ignoring Marv's presence completely. Marv noticed this but didn't care all the same.

"umm...if it is appropriate for me to ask lady Alyssa...why are you here in the base plane of existence? is there a mission that the family has assigned to you? if so I swear on my honour to do my best to help you!"

Alyssa looked at her cousin and let out yet another inward sigh. she knew that Masha was persistent when it came to issues related to 'honour'. with that sigh, Alyssa told Masha that she was here in the name of both God and the family.

upon hearing God's name Masha's face darkened slightly but went unnoticed by the other two. Alyssa explained that her mission was related to Mr Marvin and had decided to form an adventuring party together with him. when hearing this Masha widened her eyes in surprise when hearing this and turned her head to gaze at Marv.

{a man as useless as him?!!?...why would a powerful woman like Alyssa side with a good for nothing man?}

Masha didn't bother hiding her dissatisfaction on her face and Marv silently returned Masha's gaze. he was watching a telenovela and he didn't like it when the show tries to involve the audience.

Masha then returned her focus to Alyssa and said with a determined tone.

"very well lady Alyssa...I promise that I, Masha Kerian, will try my best if possible to help you. so please let me join your party if possible."

**********

Marv had a gut feeling this would happen and he didn't like it at all. but he could do nothing and just watch the drama. if he involved himself in the conversation he was afraid he might cause an awkward moment.

Alyssa looked at Marv with a clear expression saying 'what do we do?'. Marv tried to give his best 'you decide' look and pretended to put his entire focus on drinking the tea before him. this slightly annoyed Alyssa but she turned her gaze to Masha who had the look of determination on her face. Alyssa still hadn't forgiven Masha but had managed to forget about her...uptil this point. Alyssa then made her decision.

"very well, we will consider letting you join our party if...you can still form your angel wings. we may be half-angels but we still have angel powers. this should be simple for you, right?"

Masha's determined look shattered completely upon hearing Alyssa's demand. Masha looked to the cup of coffee that was brought on a wooden tray by the waitress from earlier. Masha was indeed able to form her angel wings but she had decided long ago to forget about her angel bloodline. but now, she either had to choose to forcefully acknowledge her angel bloodline to help Alyssa or to be selfish and run from her past...she didn't like either option.

she took a sip of the coffee then placed the cup onto the saucer and looked at Alyssa with determination in her eyes.

"very well Lady Alyssa."

with those words the group stood up from their seats and Masha left a single gold coin on the table and they all left for a dark alley not too far from the cafe. Masha reached the end of the alley and turned around to face the other two.

"tri-act-re"

she recited a chant with a low voice and the dark alley was illuminated by small balls of light floating from the ground and disappearing into the night sky. the scene was extremely beautiful and the wilted flowers that were along the walls of the buildings making the alley started regaining life in them.

Marv felt a wave of calmness overtake his body and he also felt something changing within him...a small fire was lighting up and was enlargening be the second. he looked to Masha who held her hands before her in a praying position. her black hair started changing slowly and completely underwent a transformation.

she had her breasts enlarged by at least one size and her hair had now become blonde. behind her back spiritual radiance shone brightly and had condensed to form bones of light and started positioning themselves to Masha's back making wings made of bones.

slowly the small bones of light stopped ascending and started flying towards Masha's back forming feathers of light. they attached themselves to the other bones of light and shrouded Masha within their brightness. Marv had to look away while the light quickly died down.

when Alyssa assured Marv that it was now safe to look. he widened his eyes in shock. standing before him was a blonde version of Masha with a breast size of at least C cup. she had yellow glowing eyes and two feathered wings on her back. every now and then a feather would fall of her wings and disappear only to be replaced by another feather.

it was breathtaking as this was the first time Marv had seen anything remotely close to an angel. he mostly saw pictures and paintings of them at churches back in his world but had never interacted with one face to face.

but then something unprecedented happened to Marv when he was watching Masha closely. the light had made him turn his head away and as he did so he missed a single green semi-transparent message board pop up.
