Marv looked at the large book on the desk and he felt scared. he wondered if something would go wrong if he did the examination. he was fairly confident that he didn't have evil karma within him but if the test results prove otherwise then that meant it was probably some type of result from the chaos dimension or Johanna. he gulped as he followed Beatrice's instructions as best he could.
he placed his hand on a page of the book and the book lit up slightly. characters started appearing all over the page next to the one he had put his hand on and they started roaming the page. it was amusing watching them cause they kept bumping into each other and tried to escape the page by hitting the edges.
after about a minute or so the characters started becoming more orderly and settled down forming sentences. they read some type of language that Marv was not familiar with but Beatrice kept watching them closely. when they settled a flash of shock passed her face.
she took an empty sheet of paper from one of the document piles and a feather pen appeared in her hands. she copied the characters onto the sheet of paper and excused herself. Marv watched silently as she disappeared. he wondered what his test results had shown and what exactly was the test?
***********
Beatrice inhaled sharply as she read the paper while walking towards the staircase. she knew how troublesome such data would be to the people of Arcane city. she read the paper once again before heading up the staircase.
{Lord Herald must hear this...otherwise I'm not sure that man's life will be spared.}
she had reached the top of the staircase and a crystal chandelier hanging above her head she turned to her left and went down the corridor and had reached a tall wooden door. she let out a breath of air and opened the door with determination. this man must live otherwise the future of Arcane city would be a disaster.
********
Marv was roaming around the room as he looked at each of the books on the large bookshelf. he picked up a few of them but all of them couldn't be read because they were all written in the same language as the book that he had done his test with. he gave up and looked out the window to only see the wall of a building next to the town hall, not as beautiful a sight as he hoped for. he sat back down in his chair and played around with his status window, his inventory was empty and the only gear he had on him was his simple clothes that didn't boost any of his stats. he had nothing much to his name and had lost two of his demi-god skills...
he wondered whether his actions up till this point could be considered the actions of a man saving a world. he let out a sigh and looked to the room ceiling.
{what am I doing....}
just as he was reminiscing about his actions he heard the door opening once more and looked to see Beatrice entering the room. the look on her face was one with glowing radiance and she had her eyes fully open. Marv twitched an eyebrow when seeing her expression.
few words were spoken as Beatrice told Marv to follow her. they both left the room and closed the door behind them. Marv watched curiously as Beatrice headed up the staircase and he soon followed her. they turned left and headed down the corridors. Marv was reminded of the knight outpost as he went down the corridor. there were pictures of former mayors and legendary adventurers all along the corridor walls until they reached a tall wooden door.
Marv sensed something was watching him but then came to believe he was just being paranoid. Beatrice stopped before the door and turned to Marv with a smile and opened the tall door.
"creak!.."
Marv saw the interior of the room and immediately thought of his own office back home.
the room had a fireplace that was currently emitting heat from a lit fire. in front of the fireplace was a wide desk with a few documents neatly arranged by the side. there was a large leather chair facing the fireplace with a figure sitting on it.
Marv felt odd before coming to a sudden realization. this power was just as oppressive as Johanna's and he had sensed it watching him since coming to the second floor.
"Hello, Marvin Rheede..."
the chair levitated off the floor and turned around before landing back behind the desk. the figure sitting on the chair was wearing a cloak but instead of a dark one like Johanna, it was snow white. the cloak covered the figure completely and the oppressive pressure Marv felt from before reduced. he looked to the figure and wondered what was happening. the figure stood up from the chair and walked around to the front of the desk.
it was then that Marv felt something different, Beatrice from before had disappeared and his senses seemed to have heightened. he felt the atmosphere within the room was one of peacefulness. he then thought of one thing.
{a dimension}
this dimension felt...different from Johanna's and Marv immediately thought whoever this figure was. they probably weren't as strong as Johanna but all-powerful figures felt the same to him.
"Mr Marvin...you're probably wondering about what type of place you are on right now aren't you? well, unlike the previous dimension you came from, mine is somewhat...friendlier to the environment of this plane of existence. if you are wondering, this is an order dimension created by me.
