the beast at the entrance to the spacious cave watched the creature before it... although it saw this creature as small and not capable of satisfying its appetite it could sense a tremendous amount of magical presence from it...the beast felt uncomfortable as it looked at marv who was standing at the back of the cave in supposed fright...
"Crrr..."
it let out some type of complicated roar...marv suddenly realized that this beast was probably the one he heard once he came to this world...he couldn't move as he was glued to the spot where he stood...although apparently, he had the powers of the demi-god class marv inwardly knew that all this class was good for was to help him 'become' the strongest human in existence...normally such a concept sounded good but in marv's case it was terrible...
it meant that sure he had part of a god's strength however his power was complicated to assess properly as his strength and agility stats were hard to depict thanks to his demi-god class...he knew that if he wanted to properly assess the limits of his current power he would need to fight...however, for marv, this was way too much of a risk to take...he could die in the process of 'discovering' his hidden potential...he might even be weaker than the average human...
marv knew that the only thing he could properly rely upon was his intelligence....even though his magic presence was high and thus reduced the risk of low-level monsters daring to approach him, it would only prove bothersome cause if beasts stronger than him sensed him they might feel threatened and attack him...marv really hated this situation cause also as a side effect of the extreme magical presence he had brought this beast to him...
he cursed inwardly and hoped the beast would leave the cave...
the only sound that could be heard was the crackling of the fire as the two stared at each other...the beast then decided to step inside and walked into the cave...
marv took a deep breath as he looked at the creature...it was actually a giant wolf with blue silky like fur...it looked so majestic marv couldn't help but admire its yellow bright eyes...it slowly approached him in a graceful slow manner that made marv shrink even closer to the back wall...however what happened next shocked marv to his very core...
"hello...should I say human? or something else..."
the wolf said this sentence with a low voice that boomed like thunder. marv sensed some type of authority in the voice and he suddenly lost connection with his legs and fell to the ground in disbelief
The animals could talk?!
this was an extremely scary moment for the former CEO...he had led a breakthrough in technology back in his world...he helped humanity perfect the stability of cloning and even managed to find a cure to Huntington disease and was knowledgeable in biological features of wolves...
however he tried to assess it, it should have been impossible for a wolf to communicate in intelligent speech especially with its tongue shape,...
soon marv recovered and stood back up...the wolf was now lying on the ground waiting patiently for this weird human to recover...
"Sorry, my behaviour was discourteous, and to answer your question I'm half-human..."
"half-human you say...then what is your other race?"
"Unfortunately I also am unsure of my other race, I had never met my parents after I was born they had died in a village fire and I was raised by another survivor of the fire..."
marv lied with such a straight voice it was almost commendable how fast he thought of it...however, lying is lying and he knew if the wolf sensed the slightest bit of hesitation in his voice it could lead to his death...
"I see...anyways I sensed your magical presence from a place not too far from hear...and I just wanted to see what it was... I assure you if you think I'm about to eat you, I'm not..."
the wolf had a slight tinge of sincerity in its thunderous tone...this gave marv hope and he thought he could risk asking the wolf a question
"excuse me...but may I ask as to whether you know of a place called arcane city?"
the wolf looked up with surprise on its face, it had thought that was where marv was from at first...
"hmm...yes I do know of the location of the place you ask but why do you wish to go there?"
this question wasn't forcefully asking for a direct answer however marv thought that he should at least give one...
as he tried to tell the wolf that he wanted to head over to the arcane city to find a job as a mage's apprentice, the wolf nodded its head in understanding
"hmmm...i understand what you're trying to do and I agree it's very commendable to try to support the one who has cared for you since childhood...very well, how about I help you get to the arcane city?".
