when noon had come around a female knight had come down to check on the criminals in their cells. however, she stopped when she reached the final cell at the end of the corridor.
"you're still here!?!..." lady Masha looked through the cell bars and looked at the inmate calmly sitting in the corner facing the walls. this perplexed Masha as she looked at the young man.
upon looking at Masha's face a flash of disdain flashed across marv's fave however he quickly showed a smug smile and asked the knight as to what she was asking about.
Masha had grown up in a noble family and had a fair share of suitors however her father was someone who believed that daddy's girl was never supposed to marry. he chased all the suitors away and taught Masha that all men had a single desire and that was to use her body to satisfy themselves. she grew up as a sheltered princess and came to believe her father's teachings.
the man who sat before her was showing a smug smile and this pissed Masha off as she wanted to slap that smile off his face but she knew her identity as a knight of the Arcania empire and held herself back.
"I see...I thought you would have broken out of your cell by now but it seems you have a good sense of right and wrong... that's good if you don't mind I would like to have the cell keys back now."
Marv thought about what his response should be and a wide grin appeared on his face as he made his best impression of an innocent man.
"cell keys?...I'm not too sure of what you're referring to miss but last night I was gifted with a set of toy keys for children. they jingled a lot and I decided it was better to give them to a street child who happened to pass by my cell window.
He seemed amused by them and ran off to play. in all honesty, I wish I could meet the person who gifted those keys to me so I can thank them for making a child's day."
The look on Masha's face made marv's day.
"I see...well then it seems your a kind soul, after all, how about coming with me? I've decided it's probably best you get identification papers from the town hall so I never have to- I mean so you can prevent this from happening again."
a vein could be seen on her temple popping up but she continued to play nice.
Masha had another set of keys and opened marv's cell. they then walked up the corridor to the stairs that returned them to the knight outpost reception.
Masha left a report with the receptionists saying that they were going to the town hall for identification papers and would be back by dusk. with that, the duo left the knights' outpost and marv looked up at the sky.
it was clear and few clouds could be seen surrounding the circumference of the sun...marv felt odd seeing such weather and asked Masha about it.
she told him those clouds were a bunch of sky islands that surrounded the sun's circumference. the islands would go where the sun goes and had 24 hours of sunlight. she said there was also another group of sky islands surrounding the lunar ball. The lunar ball was their term for the moon...
Marv felt like this world had a lot to be discovered and was now more determined than ever to find out its secrets. he asked Masha if there was a way to get to those islands and her answer made Marv's determination plummet.
"the only way is by the use of sky boots which are shoes with small magic wings attached to the sole... however the shoes cost at least two and a half million because the shoes are crafted from feathers of the solar and lunar phoenixes.
They are extremely hard to obtain and can perish within 7 hours of being obtained thus they must be made immediately they are obtained...plus the phoenixes live in regions that are distant from other civilisations so getting the feathers to a craftsman on time is hard."
this information made marv even more sceptical on what exactly this world was made for...why introduce this many species to this world and not his...was his world incapable or something?...he put away this thought cause if he wanted to ask someone he would have to get a phone call to God.
as they were travelling through the loft area of arcane city Marv couldn't help but ask questions about all the shops they were passing. He found out that some blacksmith shops were split between alchemists and blacksmiths. there were even people such as magic blacksmiths.
Masha wanting him to shut up faster decided to answer all his questions as best she could so he wouldn't ask two questions about one place. Then they finally reached the town hall.
A tall red brick building was before them with white windowsills and a small fish pond before the building. It had two large rustic metal doors with an emblem of two roaring lions. one on each door.
Marv felt curious to learn about the interior of the town hall and wanted to see if there was anything else that could surprise him within it. he slowly approached the fish pond and looked in it. he recognised clownfish that were also in his world and sighed some relief looking at creatures he was familiar with, excluding humans of course.
suddenly marv felt something was wrong, seriously wrong. his body suddenly sprung up. Masha had a look of mild shock on her face as she looked at marv who suddenly stood up with a serious look on his face she decided to let him look at the fish pond for a bit.
Marv was squinting his eyes as he looked towards the metal doors of the town hall. he felt something had changed and looked around his surroundings only to see the empty courtyard.
Marv looked up to the sky and grew even warier as he looked at the slightly red sky. he looked around his surroundings and...everyone had disappeared including the fish in the pond.
something just didn't feel right as he looked back to the rustic metal doors of the town hall. there was a figure wearing a dark cloak standing there. suddenly a green semi-transparent board appeared before Marv's eyes.
