Chapter 19 - What Is Time?

What Is Time?

As students, we should all know not only the meaning of this word but also the importance and the weight it carries in our lives.

If I ask you to define time, you might add this line-- "Time is money" in your definition. For me, Time is not money. It's much more valuable than that.

And nope, I don't disrespect money. It has its unique importance and it's VERY valuable indeed. It gives happiness. It cannot buy it, but it's a source of happiness.

Why do I disagree with this "time is money" line? Because you can earn money again but you cannot earn time again. Even if you say, the money which is not with me anymore can't come back, I'll say you cannot get more time.

You can get it from a person, but this individual is giving his or her time to you. They're not giving you YOUR time.

Supposed if someone has only 5 minutes to live and you ask the doctor to give you 5 more minutes, Is that possible?

That's why Money and time are NOT the same things.

They have different values. More money you have more the value of your time.

But this "value" is for others. Alas, the concepts of this judgmental society.

For YOU, the value of your time should be the same as the value of Bill Gates' time. This is not for others. If you don't value this precious thing yourself, how can others do so?

You have to tell others, not directly but indirectly. That to you, your time is very important and you can't waste it. If they still don't get it, Either they are deafened by their stupidity or they are simply jealous of you.

Throw these people out. Not from your school or your classroom, but your very life.

How does someone come into your life? When they're in the same class as you? You two are neighbors? Nope.

When you start thinking about them.

Even if they're on the other side of the world and you think about them, they ARE in your life.

You can plan your time. Please don't try to learn extra things which will never be in use. You should know what is worth your time.

Learning painting is useless if you're not planning to be an artist.

But no no...Don't put that in the household work category.

Every individual, whether men or women, they should know all type of household work. Why? So that when they live abroad or even not live with their parents, they know how to do things.

Knowing how to cook is a great thing. No one is telling you to become a Michelin star chef.

You should know as much so that you don't have to always go to restaurants for dinner and lunch. They waste your money and make your health worse.

The tiniest bit of things, that look very insignificant, if you can do it, your life would be much easier.

Do not think too much about the future. We don't know exactly what's going to happen. And even if something really bad happens, Think about it when it comes.

Crying about something that you don't know will happen or not, is foolishness. Stop being an overthinker.

Some people get stuck in the past. There are times in our life when the people who were very dear to us, leave us alone in the world.

But, what can we do? If you think you could've saved them from that particular injury or their health condition, wouldn't you be declared as a god?

It was meant to happen. Even if it happens a few days, a few months, or a few years later, it will still happen. You can't escape death.

Second of all, We think we could've taken care of them in a better way or something. Make them happier when they were alive. It's not your fault. You did what you could do. I bet that they are satisfied with whatever you did for them. So, move on.

We all have experienced and gone through a lot of struggles. Is struggle only there if we're poor? Or when we don't score well? When we are between jobs? Nope.

Being obese is also a struggle.

All of these things can't be rated as a small or big struggle. Why? Because no matter what, you're going to be mocked by people as you have this "problem" with yourself. All of it will make you feel insecure about yourself. The sufferings may be different, but feelings are almost the same. Sadness, insecurity, frustration, even anger, etc.

If this is in the past, it might've left a scar on your heart. It reminds you how much you have gone through. I'm proud of you. That you stayed strong and didn't lose hope.

But don't be in the past because of this. Past is a huge black hole of darkness. Once you went inside there is no way out of it.

Plus, to be more specific, it wastes your time. Thinking about you getting full marks 4 years ago, you can't afford to get egoistic about that. What matters is, where you are right now. Past can be used to motivate you about how strong you are and you can go through certain problems but not for crying about it.

Don't daydream. I am not stopping you to stop dreaming but be aware of it. If you're only thinking about work BUT not doing it, then it's completely useless.

There is a difference between daydreaming and planning something. When you dream about it, it means you're imagining how it will turn out to be regardless of whether you dream it as a negative or a positive outcome.

Planning something is you're preparing for the future happening while staying in the present. It means you're going to perform it.

And lastly, don't disrespect time in any way. You shouldn't even say you're time-passing. It's just an excuse. The correct way of saying this should be: "I'm doing absolutely nothing productive".

It seems harsh but it's the truth. There's no need to be scared of this. Why? Cuz even if you are scared of the time that is passing right now, Time will still keep going. It won't stop or wait for you to catch up to it.

If you don't respect time, time will never respect you.
